The Clermont London, Charing Cross

bars and communal areas have been refurbished and are beautiful. our bathroom seemed newly refurbished too. the staff are excellent. they knew it was my husbands birthday and left us cake, cava and a lovely little note with two free drink tokens at the bar. very kind

the room and hallways leading to it (6th floor) were run down and really could do with a refurb. for example broken plaster/paint everywhere and the headboard was all broken in our room, it looked like years of wear and tear (still clean! but need of tlc)

The lobby/atrium is beautiful! The location was the central point to the city. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was a good way to start some of our days. The step in shower was large. Love that there is a fridge stocked with water and drinks, free of charge. Also, snacks and candy.

The room was at the end of the corridor over the ‘bridge’ and it looked outdated. Needs new carpet. Aside from the carpet, it felt clean. The mattress needs replacing. Bathroom was ok except having the toilet right by the door as you enter. We couldn’t lower the temp on the AC and the room became warm in the night. (We must have had it as low as they allow.)

The hotel kept our luggage before check in so we didn’t have to lug these around with us. They also kept them for us after checking out. Very accommodating. Hotel main lobby and stairway is impressive. Exactly like the photos online. Lovely hotel Shower was very nice. Breakfast was fantastic. Love how close the hotel is to the main attractions such as the London Eye.

Minor details - stand at the bed head was peeling. Mini fridge was dirty on the inside. Looked like something had dropped inside it and then had dried up. These are minor details but when you are paying that much for a night, you expect the attention to detail.

There was a slight problem at check-in as we wanted rooms next to each other and that didn't work our, however the rooms for close enough. I would have liked to have been able to check in earlier as we had just gotten off a long flight, but rooms were not ready until after 4:00 pm. It would be nice to have rooms available earlier. The location was excellent for seeing the sites of London and very close to many nice restaurants. We included breakfast in our room stay, and it was very good. The dining room is beautiful. I really did like the hotel. A very special thanks to Hally at the front desk. She was wonderful - so very friendly and always with a smile and checking to see if everything was okay.

Check in time could have been earlier - rooms should be ready for guests arriving after very long flights and not have to wait in the lobby. It would be nice if ice for rooms was more available.

The service from all staff in all departments was outstanding - friendly, welcoming and professional. The Studio Suite where I stayed was a lovely room with a good view onto The Strand. Bed was blissfully comfortable (really a 5 star bed) and the blackout curtains very efficient, something I always appreciate. Room and bathroom impeccably clean. Very good breakfast and the restaurant, with its original 19th century decor is beautiful. The location is central and incredibly convenient, with Charing Cross rail and tube station right next door, a few minutes walk from museums, theatres and Covent Garden.

Hard to think of anything. The only problem was occasional loud noise from Trafalgar Square - people were playing very loud music there late on Saturday night and although the double glazing in the room was good, you could still hear it. But that's not the hotel's fault or within their control.

The location was perfect and the hotel was lovely. Our room was spotless when we arrived and cleaned perfectly every day. All members of staff were welcoming. The breakfast room was gorgeous, and a good selection of food was available. The staff here promptly asked preferences of tea or coffee and brought them right away. Bar staff were friendly, and the service was quick. The Service Manager Andrea helped us greatly by returning something we left behind. This was service above and beyond, and we greatly appreciated his help.

I liked the location, the fridge in the room was great, especially the complimentary drinks. I would have also liked some cosmetics in the bathroom (cotton wool/ear bud or two) but otherwise very nice, next time would like a room with a better view. The hotel is really lovely, steeped in history which gives it the character.

The staff at breakfast, very sullen, no smiles could have been a lot friendlier. I love room service in a hotel, and there is none after 10pm.

lovely entrance, good dining facilities, very clean tho disappointing bedroom. Bedding lovely and bed comfortable.

Bedroom had low ceiling and felt airless for almost £400 per night inc breakfast. Headboard very poor. Shower room- no bath- had floor with missing grouting. Told that they were in process of refurbishing. Gym small and not great. Breakfast was on a strict half hour booking on the half hour- no flexibility as the facilities were small for the number of rooms- reception told us that we could arrive at 810 but would still have to be out by 830. Had to book breakfast ahead every day- limited slots. All self serve/ buffet- staff lovely. Food fine. No real lounge/ communal spaces other than corridors. Had originally booked for a larger family party who couldn't come due to illness- not sure would have been appropriate. Comfortable stay but certainly not exceptional for the price.

The room was located on the 5th floor, and unlike other hotels near by everywhere was clean - the spirral staircase and blossom tree was amazing and made a real statement! Our room was spacious and clean with a large walk in shower that was powerful, our friends room opposite had a smaller shower but did have a bath which was a bonus! Our rooms were very quiet given the location of the hotel but that may well have been the floor we were on? Great extra large bed which was very comfy and free mini bar - with water, sweets (nice touch), biscuits and coffee making facilities. Would have liked a robe but that required a further upgrade! Our rooms were not ready on arrival but we were able to leave our cases secured and easy to retrieve on our return. Staff were lovely, the breakfast room on the first floor was so beautiful with settees and we were allocated in the glassed conservatory room which was fab! Good selection of food offered for breakfast and of a high quality standard too, with great staff who were friendly and removed plates quickly without making you feel you should leave. Great coffee selections if you wanted more specialist drinks - as well as bubbly if you wanted it. The location of the hotel was just fab - and we were able to walk into the heart of covent gardens within minutes, or take a tube to wider london attractions.

My only ask would be the eggs at breakfast - they were not the best after sitting in a warmer for a time - sure I could have had this addressed if I had raised but I wasn't that fussed - had scrambled instead! No other issues the hotel was perfect

Lovely touch with the drinks and snacks available for free in the room, location excellent for everything we wanted to do i.e. restaurants/shows. Always smells so good in the reception area as you walk in - gives the impression of a clean environment and staff so friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice superb.

We’ve only ever stayed in winter but the corridors as you walk from the lift to your room are always so uncomfortably warm that you have to remove your coat before you get out of the lift. The loo roll is cheap, not in keeping with the impression of the rest of the hotel and would be a nice touch to have hand cream by the soap in the bathrooms, just as a thought.
