Thistle Piccadilly

Breakfast was really good. Location was the best of any place I've ever stayed in London. I loved that they had room doors that closed slowly on their own. We didn't hear doors slamming all of the time like they do at other hotels. The staff who cleaned the room were exceptional.

Our visit was in July and their air conditioning wasn't quite up to the task. We did have fans in the rooms, but you don't want to pay this kind of money and have to rely on fans.

Location, facilities and staff are great. A great place to discover London.

Air conditioner did not work first night. Staff was good trying to provide options but there was no other room available. I got a fan. Next night I was changed to another room. Would have expected a first night refund, or some discount when I did the checkout. A fan is not substitution for an almost $400 dolar night. It would have been gracious to offer a discounted night for this situation. (Opening the window was not an option since they are permanently sealed) Nevertheless, It was a good hotel with good staff and I would stay again with them.

The hotel was in a great location in the centre of London making everything easy to get to. The breakfast was excellent with the cooked food always nice and hot.

Tried to communicate with the hotel before leaving my home country. After five unsuccessful tries over two nights, trying to get someone to answer the phone, I gave up. I sent two messages through booking.com and two through the hotel website contact section but none of the four were ever answered. When I raised the lack of follow up communication with the hotel on arrival, they couldn’t give a reason why nobody bothered to answer my requests and didn’t seem at all concerned, when they should have been.

The location is simply brilliant, and whilst the rooms are a touch small, one forgives everything when taking the location into account. The staff were prompt, helpful and effective. Breakfast was more than adequate on each criterion. Advice give on a range of topics was informed, useful and appreciated. In other words, stay here!

This risks moving into the “nitpicking” arena, and whilst I can pick out small things, the simple fact is that the property is simply superb locationally and the small things melt away, whereas if one is unhappy, they get amplified

In addition to the excellent location and service there is a high emphasis on security in this hotel which gave me great comfort.

Not accepting cash payments. This may cause embarrassment to a customer especially that this policy is not clearly mentioned on the hotel's website where it shows the accepted cards but says nothing about cash refusal. Fortunately I had three cards with me. two were declined and the third and last one was accepted; I would have been obliged to go to another hotel if this last card was not accepted. Please note that foreigners from some countries might have tight limitations on their credit cards.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious considering it’s London. There was plenty of room to put our suitcases on the desks so we didn’t have to leave them on the floor. We had a problem with the aircon unit in our room late at night, and the staff was able to relocate us to another room with a working aircon unit. We liked the shower and always had hot water. I was also surprised at how quiet it was, considering we were on the first floor and the hotel is very close to Leicester square which gets very busy on the weekends. We loved the location, which is close to many good restaurants on the strand and the west end theaters. Also we found it convenient that it was close to 2 tube stops.

I chose this hotel for two main reasons: location (Piccadilly Circus) and air conditioning. It exceeded my expectations on both counts. Regarding the location, there are two subway stations and numerous city bus stops within a 3 minute walking radius as well as innumerable restaurants and theaters nearby. The air conditioning was excellent and it would cool off the room within a few minutes after returning a full day of sightseeing in the summer. I was also pleasantly surprised by how well the permanently-shut windows soundproofed the room - I never heard any of the raucous crowds or street hawkers just outside the hotel. There was an ample wardrobe, a laptop safe, and a mini refrigerator - all of which made my stay quite comfortable.

There were a couple of occasions when the water pressure fell in the faucets. Fortunately, it did not affect me too for it came back up again fairly quickly and I was alone. Also, there is precious little storage space in the bathroom for the toiletries. But both of these were minor problems.

Location. We got an upgrade as compensation for a very bad experience 3 weeks before (separate article in Booking). Really nice junior suite. The staff was very nice. Want to remark Mr Mukaram, who was the only officer taking responsibility for the problems on our previous visit (although he was not responsible for them) and tried to find a solution.

The management did not contact us and did not apologize for what happened in our previous visit. The upgrade was nice, but a word from the Manager is not less important for the hotel prestige

This is a nice hotel in the heart of the Theatre district located halfway between Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square. We had a mini-suite suitable for 3 people. The room was airconditioned and spacious enough for 3 people. The bathroom was modern and had plugs at the side of the bed. The hairdryer was strong enough to dry my long hair-well done! Love having a small fridge with some bonus free water and coke.

A clean, relatively large room in a hotel across the street from Leicester Square - exactly what we were looking for for a three-day layover in London. Even though we were on the first floor right over the entrance and just across the street from the Swiss Clock, the room was silent, excellent soundproofing. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast hearty, and the exercise room had a good selection of new equipment. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
