The Ned

We have been to the Ned on a few occasions now but this is our first overnight stay. The staff are a credit to the hotel. Our room was very clean with an excellent attention to detail even though it was a "cozy" room not one of the more expensive suites.

Our room was stacked with extras but we were a bit confused as to what was chargeable and what was not. The alcohol in the room and the refrigerator were obviously chargeable, but the bathroom had a very generous variety of extras which wasn't so obvious. My only other query is I thought breakfast was included in the stay but it wasn't. Perhaps I misread the booking which might not have been clear enough. I would recommend anyone booking to pay attention to this.

Rooms are amazing! We went for the medium room rather than the cosy! Loved it! Light switches are a pain - you have to hold them to get the lights to work as they're dimmers but on an old style toggle switch.

Service charge on top of the high room rate! Constantly very busy - hard (impossible) to get a seat for a drink! Staff could be friendlier when you're a guest - getting a table for breakfast always appeared an issue to the 'greeter'. Some facilities you can't use even as guest - unless you pay extra. Food at the Asian Fusion restaurant was disappointing - esp at the price!

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff are professional, helpful and were lovely to deal with. I had heard so many great things about the hotel from colleagues of mine and it certainly did not disappoint. One of my favourite aspects was the attention to detail / amenities in the room- all you needed to bring was a suitcase. Toiletries, hair appliances included a straightener (which you seldom see), plug adaptor, charger, slippers in different sizes. I was floored. A bonus is that the mini bar is beautifully stocked.

The bedrooms, the bars, and the general feel of this place is great. Taking you back to an undefeated period of luxe and understated glamour.

I came away feeling a little disappointed at the lack of access to facilities. When you are paying more than £1000 for a 3 night stay to be told you can’t book in certain restaurants as they’re members only feels a little off. Staff felt light and as such took a few times to resolve issues.

A Great Hotel in the heart of the City. Huge expanse of dining/bar options. little cake & lovely note in room for special birthday. Dinner in The Parlour was lovely. Breakfast food great. Reception Staff Lovely.

Way, way too busy! it’s bedlam from morning to late at night. As a business am sure it works amazingly but guest areas are open to the public who come in droves. hard to get seated anywhere in the evening. Even had to book a table for breakfast if we didn’t want to be in a corner somewhere. Didn’t feel special as a guest at all. Restaurant staff generally dour including those “welcoming you in”. Room & Reception staff saved it. music on our night in The Parlour was dreadful lol tho subject to taste I am sure.

The Room was amazing, everything one can need, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, great bathroom with fantastic products

The breakfast was disappointing, quite a few mix ups, which can happen, but quite unfriendly service and seemed almost that we bothered them with our questions. We got the wrong meals, by the time we were brought the correct items, the rest of our meal was cold. They took items away before we were finished with them too, such as the tea strainer. Great quality of the food, presentation lacked the sophistication expected of a venue such as the Ned. Not satisfying in a hotel of that standard.

Location was good and entertainment exceptional.

The lighting in certain key areas was for me personally a little inadequate. An example being the stairs to toilets and venues below ground level was very poor and in the actual bedroom area.

We have stayed at The Ned previously and whilst we appreciate the upturn in costs we were surprised to see the significant increase from £265 last year to £450 this year. On top of that we were asked if we wanted to add service charges and tips which we felt unfair as the service and amenities and food were to the standard we would expect. The breakfast is lovely but perhaps the kitchen is a distance from the table as the eggs were cold and still only lukewarm when we got a second set, but, the service was impeccable and nothing too much trouble. Can I mention the ladies in the Spa who were extremely friendly and helpful, I had my hair dressed for a function which I was so pleased with. The staff are courteous and we loved the toiletries in the bedroom, the hairdryer is not great though. Overall a good stay.
