This isn't your regular sort of hotel, a large building with a reception area and lots of rooms. The BoHotel consists of five guest rooms over a bar/restaurant, rooms accessed by a rear staircase. I was in Room 5 at the back of the building, up in the attic, with Velux windows with views of the night sky and fresh air. The interior decor owes nothing to Travelodge, Days Inn and the like. This decor could come from a film set and my room, and I expect all rooms, were done with an excellent taste in decor, a room just waiting to be photographed and I loved it. There is no TV but then most people seem to use mobile phones and tablets to access broadcasting channels. There are already photos on line and mine would look much the same. Guests have a choice of small dishes served in the bar/restraurant which is also open at breakfast time. This saves a walk around town looking for food first thing on a wet morning and there is enough choice on offer. That said, there is a wide variety of cafes within a few paces of the BoHotel if folk need more options. The bar manager was friendly and helpful, rescuing me when I managed to lock myself out of my room, and the morning staff happily told me where I could buy sought after oat cakes to take back to Wales. I did get friendly email information on the booking and a telephone number to call in case of any problems which was as good as a Reception desk.

There is no parking at the hotel but the Whalley Hayes car park is 3 minute walk away. Free parking here after 3pm but I did have to get up before 8am to pay for the car park. Too late I learned this could be done by 'phone and it might have been useful to know in advance how to do this.

One of the most boutiquey boutique hotels we’ve seen, lots of thought gone into decor. The bed was so comfy bed linen had a happy smell. Loved it will stay again.

It didn’t bother us but there is no television in the room. Wi-Fi not brilliant.

Lovely decor, very cosy. Location was great and parking super easy. Loved having the bar/restaurant downstairs - a real bonus. They had also given lots of recommendations for places to eat nearby so we had pizza one evening (from next door) and it was delicious. The place was so incredibly dog friendly, even for our big dog Joey. The team working downstairs were so lovely and couldn’t have done more for us. The on duty manager really looked after us (and Joey!)

My husband says he wishes that there had been maybe one brighter light in the room but I personally like the cosy feel!

The rooms are beautifully decorated with character and unique style. It felt like an absolute treat staying here as soon as I arrived. Cosy and chic. The restaurant downstairs has exceptional food and the staff were all incredibly helpful. I had messaged beforehand to see if on the off chance there might be hair straighteners available to which I got a very prompt response from Laura who offered to lend me her daughters. They were in the room ready when I arrived. These personal touches really go a long way and it’s very rare to find. I’ve been an international flight attendant for 10 years and haven’t found somewhere with such good service before. Thank you to everyone at Bohotel!

Floor boards upstairs were a little creaky but to be expected in older properties

Great decor, a comfortable and very pleasant place to stay. The staff were lovely and the whole process was extremely smooth. Mini party rings by the tea and coffee were a winner, and drinking a gorgeous red wine from the bar downstairs whilst soaking in the giant bathtub was dreamy.

Main bugbears were the soft furnishings- the towels were fun and matched the decor, but when push comes to shove, there were two of us staying in a room with a shower and a huge bathtub, and only one towel big enough to act as a bathsheet which could be wrapped around a grown adult. A few more big, fluffy towels wouldn’t go amiss. In the heat of the summer, a thin bedsheet would also have been better than the duvet.

The details in the room showed that the place is extremely bespoke making you feel a little more special knowing 'this is the only room like this'. In particular the copper bath tub was beautiful. The lighting can be tailored to your mood and the beds are both quiet and comfortable. The level of cleanliness was exceptional with towels and floor mats provided. A very nice addition was the provision of shower gel and shampoo. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable stay in a beautiful location. The host was incredibly attentive and reliable when communicating and bent over backward to enable us to stay an extra night.

Absoloutly nothing.

Great central location, helpful staff, comfy beds and individually designed rooms. Just what Macc needed! We extended our stay and enjoyed two nights in our 'boho boudoir'. Laura, the owner, checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was just downstairs which was great. For breakfast my wife had blueberry pancakes and I had the full English, both were really tasty. It was just a short stroll into the main town. The Treacle Market on Sunday was an unexpected bonus for us and we were able to leave our bags in the room until 2pm, so we could enjoy wandering around for a few hours. The mushroom stall was out of this world! The whole town had such a good atmosphere. We'll be back. --

BoHotel is a brilliant addition to Macclesfield! We stayed in the superior king room which had a very comfy super king size bed and stunning copper bath. Totally luxurious! The decor was beautiful, with not one, but two ornate fireplaces and panelled walls. We appreciated all the little thoughtful details, like the glass decanter for water instead of plastic bottles and the quality bed linen. The restaurant had a great small plate selection, delicious buttermilk chicken, amazing halloumi and a really good bottle of wine. We could hear the hum of the music a little from the room around 9pm, but it wasn't loud and it was turned off when the restaurant closed at 10pm so it didn't cause us any issues at all.

The room was great! Definitely Instagrammable - very striking decor. The bed was really comfy and the shower head was a big rainforest one, so that was superb too. The essentials were spot on. There were nice little touches, such as the Parma Violets and Haribo, and the shampoo that smells like pina colada. Working in conjunction with Suburban Green cafe/ bar is a great idea, too. I just have to get used to not meeting someone at reception now!

Not much to dislike. The telly was online only, no terrestrial available, so I had to know what programme I wanted to watch and it would take 5 minutes to type in the title with remote control. I enjoy the pot luck of channel hopping, so this seemed better suited to families with kids who want specific things.
