The Old Hall Inn0

The Old Hall Inn is in a fantastic location, conveniently close to the train station and town center of Chinley and on the starting route to plenty of lovely walks of different distances. Breakfast and dinner options were exceptional! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A fantastic facility that the hotel offers is a GPS tracker loaded with walks from the hotel that a member of staff is able to talk you through, offering good suggestions and answering any questions you have. The room was very comfortable and clean with the facility of a coffee machine much appreciated by us.

The level of noise in the evening - we were pre-warned about this when booking and everything was quieter past the Old Mills closing hours.

What didn't I like? We brought American friends with us and it was their first trip to England so I wanted to ensure it was a real heart of England experience. It did not disappoint. Building is gorgeously kept, beautifully decorated, rooms are charming with fairly high end amenities (bath and shower in both rooms were lovely). Food was good, breakfast served at the large dining table felt like being a guest at some Lord's home (without the awful middle class snobbery I assume that brings). Location is ideal, big car park, horses to chat to, everything.

We ate dinner at the restaurant one night and the only vegan/vegetarian option was gone very quickly. It was limited to meats, which makes sense given the location, but did cause a disappointment on our big 'group dinner' evening. It's also not cheap.

The Room was excellent, cozy, clean and spacious for 2. Although the Old Hall resturant was closed on wednesday, the papermill was an excellent alternative which provided amazing pizza's and we even got to meet a chef at the Old Hall while we had our evening meal.

There is little to nothing i'd say was below our expectations - we would certainly reccomend this to any friend or family member. Although we were situated above the pub and could hear people below, after 11pm - it was very quite and even before this, it didn't disturb us after a long day walking around the peaks.

The room was lovely and the facilities in the room fabulous. Food both evening and breakfast was delicious and they catered easily for gluten and egg free needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful , making recommendation when asked. The use of the GPS for a guided walk was a lovely additions that helped us explore more of the area. We really enjoyed our short stop and would definitely recommend to others.

There was a little dust on the skirting board and the toilet seat was a little loose - minor points. Some decaffeinated options in the room would have been good as my partner doesn't drink caffeine but likes a coffee in the morning.

We stayed in the Old Hall (not the Paper Mill, though we had a good pizza supper there). Old Hall was a lovely cosy inn with log fires in the breakfast and dining rooms, old beams etc. The room was very nice. I particularly liked the all the meals we had as the menus were very tempting, with locally-sourced and seasonal produced and a range of vegetarian options. We went by car but will return using the local railway station (a few minutes walk away) as we didnt need to use the car once in our three-night stay. There are good walks from the door, and advice, maps, geo-location devices all provided. Staff all very helpful.

There is no lounge, but the room was large and comfortable so one wasn't really needed.

Best breakfast ever! They have a choice from their hot menu, and a wide selection of pastries, cereals and fruits. The freshness of the food is even better than those large hotel chains. The restaurant staff are really friendly, especially the ladies who wake up early in the morning to prepare the breakfast.

The location of Old Hall Inn is not exactly the easiest drive for somebody used to the wide city roads. There was parking available at the restaurant area. The room was on the second floor up a narrow stairway. So not advisable to bring a big luggage there.

Absolutely loved this place! I was with a group of family and friends visiting Chatsworth House and found this amazing Inn. The manager Dan was so helpful! he couldn’t do enough. Before we arrived Dan rang to say they had to change the cottage we were staying in due to a leak. He told me not to worry and that our accommodation would still be what we had booked. He wasn’t wrong, it was so spacious, very clean and accommodated our group very comfortably. There was ten in our group, 3 stayed in the two bed house, 1 stayed above the Paper Mill and then the 6 of us stayed in the 3 bed cottage. We were there in November on a Christmas break. When we did our exchange of our Secret Santa gifts, we all sat together in the three bed cottage as it had a large sitting room, which was perfect. I also informed Dan that we could be arriving a little late and might not make our time for the dinner reservation. Dan said not to worry, have a safe journey and he would be able to sort us out with something when we got there! The food was plentiful with lots of choice on the menu. The breakfast was delicious and my group asked for different things that wasn’t exactly on the menu and our waitress was completely happy to sort it. I really couldn’t recommend this place enough. Surrounded by rolling countryside, plenty of walks to go on. The only thing I would suggest, is to pre book taxis if you don’t want to drive to Chatsworth House.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

Excellent stay at Whitehough. All the staff were a perfect combination of helpful, friendly, competent and efficient. Room 13 downstairs and upstairs for family of 4 is a dream, beautiful view, my daughters absolutely enjoyed, the evening meal and breakfast superb. The Old Hall Inn itself is fascinating, the atmosphere good and the bar a cozy treat with an excellent range of beverages. Will most definitely be back and recommend to friends and family. The location is perfect, with a whole hose of walks available straight from the accommodation, (along with maps and a free to use GPS). The food is exceptional, with the menu being locally sourced and super creative. The staff are all attentive, polite and go the extra mile to ensure you're comfortable, looked after and happy. The wine on offer is fantastic, with Dan the landlord being particularly knowledgeable and happy to help you select something to suit your palate. We quite often visit the peaks, usually looking to stay somewhere different each time as we love to explore new places - this year we chose to return to the Old Hall because we loved it so much last year and we plan on going back again. If you like good food, great wine (and ales), friendly faces and picturesque scenery, you won't be disappointed here!

Staff were all excellent. Efficient and courteous! Rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The continental offering on top of the pre ordered cooked breakfast was great. Great choice of cask ales and a reasonable menu.

Get the chefs to make more of the Lamb Bourguignon pudding. It sold out both nights before we could try it :( . It looked and smelled delicious, shame it wasn't on my plate lol
