Velvet Hotel

We were greeted with glasses of Prosecco during check-in...a nice surprise! Room was spacious, clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom an excellent size, including the shower, & toiletries were provided. Tea & a coffee machine were available plus a mini bar. Loved the room decorations!! As this was our 1st time to Manchester, we found the staff very knowledgeable & eager to assist. We ate at the Brasserie next door, the food & service was excellent & good value for money. Location was quite good with a short walk to shops, bars & public transport.

Through no fault of the hotel we were disturbed in the early hours of each morning of our 2 night stay, even with our room being at the back on the 2nd floor (#23),( noisy revelers & the garbage collectors). Reception did offer to move us but as we were only there for a short time we declined. Future travelers may find it worth noting that Canal Street is a busy pub/club area.

The property was stunning, especially the interior. The rooms were well designed, clean and well furnished.

The stay was brilliant with no complaints. I will however never stay here again. I have been waiting for my security deposit of £50 for 4 weeks. I have called over 10 times with complete mishandling of my issue. I was assured 2 times that the money was on the way to then be informed the money was never sent as they believed the transaction was never processed. The money has still not entered my account after being directed to the financial team and calling my bank as they advised, which is where I discovered the payment had never been sent back to me.

This hotel is ideally located for exploring Manchester. It was only a 5 minute walk from Piccadilly station, a 15 minute walk from Victoria station, and easy to walk around to many of the top sites, restaurants, & shops. The hotel had lots of character. My husband & I loved our room, which was very spacious, comfortable, and air conditioned. It was located in the back of the hotel, so it was always quiet. It had sitting area with a stylish black couch & chair plus a huge tub & shower. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. We appreciated the early check-in so we could relax after our flight from the US.

The shades from the window still let in a lot of light & it gets light super early in July. Thankfully we had sleep masks to resolve this. The mini fridge wasn’t plugged in when we arrived. It would have been nice to have a cold drink in the room after we checked in.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in a suite for the night. The room was gorgeous, it had super cozy vibe to it with the choice of lighting options, had a very comfortable bed and a stunning bathroom. The property was in a perfect location with bars a couple of doors down and a 15 minute walk from the Arndale Shopping Centre. The staff were so incredibly polite, chatty and helpful! Couldn’t fault the place at all.

The only possible downfall is that even with the windows shut, you can still hear people having a good time outside. However this didn’t effect our stay personally and would definitely be staying again!

Customer Service was truly on point, warm welcome and help, great value for money and definitely will be returning, I stayed in the Balcony King Room and it was amazing. I did think due to where it is located it would be noisy but honestly didn't hear a thing. If you are looking to travel and get good value for money the Velvet Hotel really did tick all boxes and so far the best Hotel I have stayed in. Oh and the bathroom is divine!!

I honestly cannot find a thing to fault you on, you ticked alot of the boxes for me, perhaps on my next stay with you something may crop up but I doubt it. Well done! <3

It was absolutely stunning, from lighting to the beautiful design, staff were very polite and welcoming. Nice view of street lights down below, massive TV, custom fan settings for the whole accommodatiom. VERY comfortable bed and high ceilings. Just wish we could've stayed longer.

Bath took ages to fill, wasn't so clear on snack prices (as list was hidden behind crisps in the basket), the blinds also shut randomly without our knowledge and didn't know how to open them again. Water in shower was cold and couldn't turn it up any higher. Also no milk to go with the coffee (would've had to call downstairs for it but only stayed one night and had to be out by 11am and couldn't wake up which is more of a positive on the comfort of the bed). Lights weren't very versatile- if we wanted the room lights on the lounge part would also have to be on. Really getting petty here but bin liners weren't secured to the edge of the bin so basically fell beneath the rubbish, felt bad for the cleaning staff.

Comfortable, stylish room overlooking Canal Street. The freestanding bath in addition to the shower was a great feature, as were the adjustable lights. Good quality toiletries in refillable dispensers which avoided the waste associated with individual miniatures. Decent level of soundproofing, both between rooms and between the room and the street. We used the train, coach and bus during our long weekend stay as well as walking the city, and it couldn't have been in a handier location for all those things. My husband very much appreciated the coffee machine, and the welcome chocolates for his birthday also went down well. We didn't try the brasserie while we were there but the service in the bar was good.

The hotel doesn't have its own dining room so if you wanted breakfast, it would be a simple continental breakfast brought to your room as a chargeable extra. At this price point you'd hope for breakfast to be included so that felt tight. Other small niggles included: the only teas available in the room were those that didn't require milk, as there were no milk sachets provided; the shower door leaked; the room was too hot in the morning as the thermostat couldn't be set lower than 19 degrees, and only one of the windows opened at all to ventilate and regulate the temperature. None of this dampened our enthusiasm for our stay though.

We stayed in Room #401 The Signature Velvet Suite/deluxe suite, with vaulted ceilings. It has two rooms, one being a well defined daytime living space & the other is the bedroom area with freestanding bath. A giant 65inch TV in each. There are archways between the rooms, no doors. The super-kingsize bed is comfortable with a thicker mattress than other rooms, as a larger obese person I found it very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. This room is located on the top floor of the old cotton mill side and at the front of the hotel. Upon arrival we found chocolates in the room and a personal hand written welcome note in an envelope. Nice touch! The reception staff are fantastic and Adrian... well he's just a joy. He makes the experience of staying here even more special. A great addition to the front of house.

The picture for the bathroom shown on the listing is incorrect. That's not the bathroom that this Deluxe Velvet Suite has. There isn’t a large double vanity or the large walk-in shower as shown in the listing. Tis not merely a case of the camera failing to “Capture the compact element of the bathroom”.

On arrival, we were greeted by staff and offered a glass of Prosecco... this was a nice touch! We were made to feel very welcome and given accurate instructions on how to get to our room. The room was spacious and there was clear evidence of attention to detail throughout. The bed was also very comfortable. We didn't access the breakfast and so cannot comment on this. However, the hotel is situated very close to local cafes, restaurants and shops and so this can be easily accessed within a 10 minute walk.

Our bedroom was at the front of the property, looking out onto the canal. This room was on the first floor and so at times felt like people walking on the canal could see into the room. Noise was also, at times, an issue coming from bars across the canal; although, this didn't impact on our stay.

Velvet, Canal Street, Manchester THIS HOTEL IS AMAZING!! 01. The room was super clean, very comfortable, and the staff (especially Scott!) was amazing. They went over and above to help make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Manchester City centre. 02. The hotel were extremely accommodating and allowed me to check in late that evening. I also slept in the next morning and they doing mind me checking out late got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. The sevice was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there. 03. I had a wonderful experience at the Velvet. Every staff member I encountered were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Will recommend to everyone!
