Overall we had a lovely stay, we met the new landlord and landlady the morning after our late check in. I can honestly say after only being in the job for one week they certainly know how to make you feel welcome. They have inherited a few small issues and are well aware and working hard to correct these and I have no doubt they will and continue do their best to improve and build a fantastic business for themselves while making their guests stay the best it can possibly be. Good luck Matt and Mags, we will return to see you again.

The bathroom we had was small and as a wet room could have a slightly better design, excess water all over the bathroom after showering. I’m sure the new managers will look at options in the coming weeks.

So the wife & myself stayed here for one night 19th aug before we flew from Bristol. We arrived after check due to traffic, I phoned ahead & they were great about it. Upon arrival we was told the chef phoned in sick, but they could recommend a place, Matt ( the manager) was great , once he showed us to our room, through conversation we said we was looking to go back out for food. After showing us the very comfortable room etc . He returned 5 mins later to say he’s booked us a table at a near by pub/restaurant ( the plough) which I thought was above & beyond. It was a 7 min drive ,& the food was exceptional. When we returned I was offered free shots ( which again was brilliant) all in all me and the wife plan to stay here later this year just because it was that nice. The decor of the rooms was great, & I like the bar area which had wood fire ( winter time ) & lots of history. We will return 👍

Very friendly staff (on the phone) super comfy beds with the most incredible pillows. I arrived late and had called ahead so they arranged a convenient pick up for the key. It's a beautiful part of the country too.

Don't try and communicate through Booking.com or by email, I attempted to do this several times to say I would be beyond their 9pm check in cut off but received no response. However, when I personally called them, they were wonderful and accommodating, so just cut out the middleman of technology. It also reminded me that speaking to people is infinitely nicer. There was no staff at Breakfast, so I guess it just missed a slight personal warmth at check out. Also for £84 I want better coffee than Nescafe in the room, all the teas are a good brand, so for sure they can up their coffee game.

The room is on the smaller side but well provisioned in all aspects. The bed was comfy. The evening meal was excellent. Although quite busy the pub and restaurant were not rowdy so it was quite pleasant in the evening. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The included full English Breakfast was super (only available Fri-Sun). Free wifi too. Real value for money

If I had to find fault the chandelier is overdue for a good dust. You can't help noticing as it's directly over the bed, and the bedside tables are a little small in height and width but that's just my preference as I have lots to dump at the side of the bed

Everything was lovely. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, the room was super-comfy and gloriously quiet. Huuuuge bathroom, with lots of piping hot water. Beautifully quiet room, tastefully furnished, and good heating (it was a very cold winters day). My husband had to check in at the airport very early in the morning, and that was just an easy 15mins drive away. so we will definitely be booking again to come back, as we to and fro quite a bit from Bristol Airport. We also booked a table in the restaurant the evening we arrived, and had an absolutely superb meal. There were so many delicious choices on the menu that we will need to go back to try them, and the quality was excellent. A real gem, and absolutely first class.

Our only tiny comment would be that there was no information folder in our room, so we didn't have the wifi code (and were too tired and comfy by then to go back downstairs to get it :D ), and if we'd wanted breakfast wouldn't have known what time it was served.

The room was comfortable and staff very helpful considering they had to cope with the fact that the chef/and agency chef replacement weren't available. So no meals Saturday night-quite annoying for us,if we had known we would have booked elsewhere!!!

The fact that we were charged a fee for paying with a debit card. If we'd known we would have paid cash...plus the email receipt doesn't reflect the additional amount. It's a small amount but it's the principal it not being told of this charge.

very warm and cosy, lovely staff and nice clean room, facilities was very good. the breakfast things made available to us was lovely when we had to leave around 3am for our flight! The shampoo and soap range was really nice.

would of preferred to of known that food was not going to be available so would have stopped somewhere on the way to the hotel to eat rather than having to go back out to go and eat, needing one of us to drive so couldnt have a drink, not sure why evening meals were not available.

Beautiful room, amazing food. Lovely garden and restaurant.

Unfortunately on arrival we noticed that there was only one toilet roll in the bathroom which was a few sheets from being finished. We went down to get lunch and reported this to the bar staff and asked if more could be put in the room. On return to the hotel at midnight we realised that none had been put in. Breakfast was lovely but there was only enough orange juice for one small glass each. When you have paid £152 for a room, I’d expect more. When we reported the toilet roll issue again in the morning, this was rectified but we were 20 minutes from checking out. An apology was given and we received a glass of juice each for free.

The bedrooms were very clean and the facilities were better than expected. The bed and the bed linen were very comfortable.

Unfortunately the restaurant had experienced a power cut so we couldn't eat there. Breakfast was a complimentary continental offering. I'd have preferred a cooked breakfast but the fee offering was perfectly good. The main strange thing was the complete absence of any staff on-site.

Room was nice. Very comfortable bed and had everything I needed for one night. I liked the products in the bathroom (soap etc.) Staff were nice. Had dinner in the pub quite early at 5pm - it was delicious and lovely wine, I am a vegan and they had a great mushroom pie. Also had a lovely vegan breakfast.

Room was a little bit small and the bathroom was quite small and got very wet when I used the shower, but these are small things. It was a good hotel.
