Rose And Crown

The dinners were very good. The room was fine and so was the shower. The room provided nice large towels and breakfast items (coffee and tea bags, milk and sugar) with electric water cattle very helpful when the morning were a little too cool for us.

The view from our window. I guess the only room available was not the best because the view was the roof top occupied by the exhaust of...heaters? Kitchen stoves? However, we did not mind the pleasant smell reaching from the kitchen below us when the preparation for the day meals were taking place :)

A great pub, in a beautiful location. Mum and I stayed in Room 8, which was a perfect size for our stay. The bed was super comfortable and Mum loved the pillows. Linen was white, crisp and clean, and the towels were super soft, and big. Free toiletries in the en-suite bathroom were an added bonus, and the shower over the bath was excellent. A bath/shower mixer with a massive fixed round shower head that flowed incredibly.. The bedroom had a little balcony, and a fire escape down to ground level. Plenty of tea/coffee sachets in room, hairdryer in wardrobe, which was equipped with plenty of hangers, and iron/ironing boards in the corridor to use. WiFi was free, with excellent coverage throughout the pub/guest rooms. Key access to rooms, and a massive leather attachment to the keys so I wouldn't lose them, haha. We didn't have food in the evening, but what we saw from those in the restaurants looked absolutely amazing.. (Sunday lunch/evening) We ordered the breakfast, full English, with continental too. Just enough, and everything was perfect. Hosts were very welcoming, and friendly.. We left there this morning, leaving a little gift for them, and we were given a pan au chocolat each for the journey home. We loved every minute, and can't wait to book again soon.

Nothing we didn't like.

A fabulous pub, really comfortable room, if anything a tiny bit noisy as over the bar area but we were expecting that and not a big problem as the walls are very old and very thick! Breakfast was great, lots of choice and three different price points. Staff were very lovely and happy to chat. They even made my husband a bacon butte for free as he had to work through and missed breakfast. All in all a lovey stay and sorry to only be there for one night at the end of the Senior Open Golf competition.

Nothing, bar noise lulled me to sleep.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy, rooms were very clean. It was very restful and relaxing. Meals in the restaurant were excellent.

A lick of paint needed in the hall and stairway. We were not made aware there would be a music festival happening in the grounds, so there was a lack of parking. Fortunately, we were able to park at nearby relatives' property. However, we do admire the way the staff handled the busy event.

Really friendly and ideal for a visiting the area for a stay,definitely recommend the Rose and Crown,food was awesome and the staff went above and beyond 😀

Only issue is we had 2 cars and with the pub and hotel I think the carpark struggles to accommodate enough parking spaces but if your lucky you can get a space and the shower over the bath doesn't have a different attachment so you can blast your under areas but that's a personal preference to me but I do prefer that rather than the over head shower

A character pub in a charming village. Friendly, helpful staff & good food with an extensive menu. Rooms are simple but comfy beds, spotlessly clean & well-equipped (nice to have tea & coffee making services in the room) & good wifi, ample parking too. Great base for a short break as just a short walk into Porthcawl centre or Rest Bay beaches & golfclub. Plenty of good walks in the area & 5 minute drive to Retail outlet site for retail therapy! Stayed with friends for a reunion & had a great time!

The service at The Rose & Crown was excellent, the team are so welcoming and willing to do whatever they can to make you feel comfortable and valued. A varied pub grub menu was on offer along with lovely roast dinners on Sunday, the quality of the food was really good and great value for money, also very nice breakfast options and plenty of tea & coffee! The bedroom was a reasonable size for two, clean & comfortable. Despite the stricter covid regulations in Wales the team did everything they cold to make our stay as relaxed as possible. A very nice stay indeed.

The rooms were nicely decorated and quite modern however, the bathrooms although perfectly functional were a little tired and could do with upgrading.

The location and pub are great, the staff are friendly and helpful we love coming to stay at the rose and crown. The room we stayed in was clean but did smell of damp which was a little off putting, but this did not put us off our stay .

The pub is so cosy and comforting it’s nice to relax. The menu has changed which is good giving more choice. The staff are great and friendly and happy to help.

From the start we were made to feel welcome. Staff were brilliant throughout. This included the bar staff, waitresses, staff in the morning serving breakfast & the cleaners. Everyone was so polite and very helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and had everything in it we needed. We had an evening meal there one night & it was delicious. The location was also perfect for going into Porthcawl.

The staff and atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The bar and restaurant area was warm, cosy, comfortable and characterful. Breakfast was filling and tasty. I ate dinner at the pub both nights and was tasty, I would recommend the cockles starter yum yum!

My room was just above the kitchen so could be a little noisy during the day and evening from kitchen ventilation, but this cannot be helped and is not a complaint as it is what it is. This did not effect my comfort or sleep during my stay, I was very comfortable. I would advise not to open the windows of Room 1 during the daytime as the kitchen smells may linger in your room, perhaps an option to open the bathroom window instead would be better as this was locked during my stay.
