Fantastic location near the city centre, train station and bus stops. A 20 min walk takes you down to the bay and the Spinnaker Tower. The seaside resort of Southsea with lots of things to do is a short bus ride away. Plenty of choice for breakfast, including a few cooked items. Really appreciated the dog friendly area in the restaurant (had an evening meal at the hotel but for a change of scene, check out The Dockyard across the road - dog friendly and lovely food). Bed was comfy and shower was warm and powerful. Room is quite compact, but it wasn't a problem. Left the car in the car park during our week stay (£10 a day which is slightly cheaper than nearby car parks) and got about on the excellent public transport. A comfortable and convenient hotel for the price.

Could have done with a hand towel in the bathroom, not just shower towels. Four pillows would have been better than three, but no problem as I know we just had to ask. Wish we were told that you have to register for wifi every day.

Unusually for England (we spent 6 weeks touring), the parking situation was simple and reasonable. You just parked behind the hotel and paid a reasonable fee for that. The location was perfect for our need, which was to spend 3 days in the extensive Portsmouth naval museum area, which was maybe a 20-25 min walk for two slow walkers in their 70s (us). The hotel is also very close to the downtown area with a wide selection of pubs and restaurants and even a few historic sights and statues. I have stayed in ibis hotels before and always liked their simplicity and budget rates, and this time it was the same. ibis hotels are austere in some ways, but perfect for tourists like us who just need a place to sleep, watch Wimbledon, and spend the days outside the hotel.

The room was a tight squeeze with two suitcases and two big backpacks. The bedside reading lights are not conducive to long bouts of book reading. This is always true at ibis hotels (hence the great price). The furnishings are simple but adequate. Don't expect a big desk, a fridge, etc. The bathroom reminded us of the ones we had on cruise ships--tight but efficient. If you spend most of your days out, none of this will bother you--otherwise it will. NOTE to ibis: if you would provide a night light, we wouldn't need to leave the bathroom light on all night to avoid taking a fall in the dark.

Location was perfect for what we needed. Minute walk or two to all pubs - shops- clubs - leisure & transportation Kettle in room Already had towels and shampoo/shower gel etc in bathroom which was great Extra plug box for extra Charging wires was very handy and needed Cool Fan and hair dryer in room again is a must and wanted so very happy be perfect with also an iron Free good Wi-Fi connection Bar & Pool table with large seating in reception area was great

Room & Bathroom was small had to keep moving items but I guess it’s okay for short term Would like to have more tea and coffee in room daily of stay. Couldn’t get Tv to work or to connect to Bluetooth unfortunately wasted over an hour of our time but again maybe down to Tv issues More pillows would be better

I really liked staying at the ibis for a week. It is close to uni. The room was clean and had everything I needed: kettle, free tea, desk with a window that let me see a big tree. Breakfast was varied: eggs, tomato, cheese, hams, bread, pastries, cereals, fruit, juices, tea, coffee. The restaurant offers food till late.

The bathroom is indeed tiny. A larger person would struggle. Wifi had some glitches. Sometimes it didn't work properly. Also, my phone kept complaining that the connection was not secure.

Great location for our needs, walking distance to Gunwharf keys and Also town centre, /historic dockyard. Dog friendly very nice staff free on site parking, on a first come basis. I would have no problem staying here again.

Good selection of food but I like my food hot not warm! The baked beans were warm, not hot, same with scrambled eggs. We were first down for breakfast so expected things to be hot! I would recommend lids for the sausages and bacon that the guests can lift to keep things hot and a microwave so that guests can warm things up if they want it a bit hotter. No Air conditioning in room but fan provided. If windows are open it can be noisy into the night as there are a couple of clubs across the street. ( If you are facing the main road).

Lovely welcome, friendly helpful manager, very comfortable reception/sitting/dining areas. Excellent room, comfortable bed, good linen and towels and plenty of soap products. Hospitality tray/hairdryer and a real plus the electric socket is next to the mirror for hairdryer use (something lacking in other hotels). Good meals on last night, curry, excellent fish and chips, well cooked and presented and good white wine. Convenient for shops/cafes/museums/theatres etc and walking distance to Gunwharf Quay, Hotwalls, and Southsea beach. Walking distance to Albert Road for different shops and range of eateries. Parking on site for £10 a day - much cheaper than taking taxis everywhere.

Nothing can be improved - perhaps wifi signal but understand it is generally bad in most of Portsmouth due to high buildings.

Pretty much everrything.

Tight staffing levels and multi-tasking for staff meant it was not immediately clear where to check - in and whether the bar was open. On occasion, neither appeared to be staffed, although someone came over to the relevant work station fairly quickly. Staff were helpful and friendly. I had hoped to find a hotel walking distance from the ferry port. The route was complex and I needed a taxi to find/take me to the hotel. This is not a complaint - but qualifies my slightly lower mark on location.

Style and decor was excellent. Carpeting really nicely done. Nice to see that it was clean under the bed. Shower doors a bit silly. Gaps down the sides and two holes for handles let quite a lot of water out onto the bathroom floor which I had to mop up with your nice clean towels. Couldn't bluetooth my iphone to the tv and apple devices don't work with chromecast, so still watched tv on my phone.

The breakfast had a really nice selection, but the bacon was hard, the scrambled eggs were dry and I asked the chef for a fried egg instead but my breakfast was cold by the time it arrived.

Staff were very friendly and informative.

Breakfast was not great value. We paid over £20 for a cooked and continental breakfast. Bacon overcooked, sliced mushroom were from a jar or tin. Little choice available on the pastries and no bread products available. Maybe we were a little late. However fresh scrambled eggs were made on request, but still very overcooked. (perhaps that's just personal preference) Worse still, we bumped into a chap, that had paid half the price we did, after finding them on To Good To Go. Who then proceed to have his fill, make himself a snack for later and fill his bag with fruit. Fair play to him I guess.
