Somerset House Boutique Hotel and Restaurant

The staff are absolutely brilliant and very accommodating. The staff couldn't do enough for you. My only complaint would be that the hallway light was on all night and could be easily seen through the base of the door which made the room less dark. Breakfast was delicious and our dining experience was delightful. Would definitely stay het again.

We had the ground floor room which had a separate toilet that had no privacy window this could benefit from a frosted window sticker as there are properties that look over the window.

The breakfast was superb..Room large and only spoilt by the inconsiderate guest opposite who went in and out the doors leaving them slam about 3 times between 6 and 7a.m

Large bedroom, shower. Excellent breakfast, full English cooked as I like it, eggs hard.... The room it's self was warm.

The separate toilet in the room probably was the smallest toilet in the world. if you were of ample proportions then I fear you would not have got in there! When me a 13 stone man went in there my shoulders were touching each side walls! It was the case of backing in there!. The depth of the toilet room was also very small. Clean and tidy but very cold in there.

The room was lovely and comfortable. It was great to have 2 comfortable chairs to relax with a drink. The bed was so comfortable, best sleep I’ve had for ages. The breakfast was superb, very tasty and hot. The staff are all really friendly and helpful.

Only slight thing was the placement of the tv. If positioned to watch comfortably from the the chairs, you couldn’t open the bathroom door. But this was a minor issue, didn’t affect our stay at all.

Staff lovely and location good and check in easy

Room was cold staff tried to help but bathroom radiator was useless and it was freezing. Sons executive room was spacious but also had a freezing bathroom. Our room on the top floor was in the eaves of the roof and husband banged his head on the sloping ceiling in bedroom and bathroom and nearly hit it going down the stairs on more than one occasion and he’s not very tall! Not much room at breakfast No fruit on menu

The whole experience, from start to finish was brilliant and memorable. The staff were extremely friendly. The accommodation was extremely clean and tidy and smelt wonderfully fresh. The choice of breakfast menu and evening meal was thoroughly enjoyable and exceeded our expectations. The parking arrangement were ideal. The conservatory and outdoor seating area were a great setting for guests to enjoy.

It would have been useful to have had a safe within the room.

Very comfy bed and lovely room. The breakfast was good (included in price). Very handy to have free parking permit provided and we managed to park right outside.

There was mould on the bathroom wall which was disappointing for the price. It would have been good to have had a fridge in the room. The staff seemed quite young and inexperienced. When we checked out, we weren't asked if we had enjoyed our stay which I was expecting.

Breakfast quality very good with various options

The only smallish negative we had was parking. Due to it being the great south run weekend there were lots of cars parked up. However the hotel supplied us with a permit to park anywhere on the street if all the hotel spaces were occupied. On one occasion, one of the staff allowed us to use their car parking space which was very kind indeed. They really do value their customers.

The room was at the top of the building (no one above you to make noise!) the shower room was spacious and had a large Velux window that you could open and look out over the roof tops whilst showering! The room was also spacious and has good quality furniture throughout. It was also a central location which was great. The staff were also excellent they came with an iron and board swiftly when i needed it and this helped me attend a naval function in time - great work

The parking is a difficult problem in Portsmouth, the hotel was great in supplying a permit but it was tricky to park. The wardrobe in the room was a little strange - the room had high ceilings and plenty of space however the wardrobe sat on the floor (without legs, like they had been removed!) and was the smallest wardrobe I have ever seen - I know it sounds strange but when staying over having a place to put suits etc is a positive - i understand if the room was small but it wasn't!

We were really pleased with the decoration and furniture in the room, nice and cosy. The only thing was, that we had to remind ourselves we were under the eaves and pay attention as to where our head was in relation to the wall. It was clean, the bathroom was roomy. There were a large choice of beverages too.

It would have been nice for us to be able to see through the window into the street.
