good size room overlooking the water. lovely breakfast

the shower had no regulator and initially tepid at best and then the water was literally scaldingly hot. it was not possible to have a shower and when you pay nearly £200 for a night you expect things to work properly and safely. The toilet seat was also broken and so was the toilet paper holder.

The room was very comfortable, with good facilities and a great view. Breakfast was one of the best full English cooked breakfasts I've had in a long time. The location is superb, as it has the best of beach, historic interests, city life and shopping on its doorstep. The hotel had a beautiful atmosphere, generated by the lovely well kept architecture and decor, the use of space, and the layout. We were there attending a 60th birthday party, and that was excellent, with good service, great food, and comfortable and pleasant space for the party. All in all it felt like a pretty special break.

Bathroom was a bit cramped, but perfectly good.

The hotel is a fabulous building, the architecture and age was a pleasant surprise. We had wonderful weather so took full advantage of the beautiful garden area. The room had everything we required but was slightly on the smaller size but I assume that this is due to the age of the property. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent and all staff were friendly and courteous. The proximity to the ferry port was brilliant. We would definitely return.

As mentioned previously our room was a little on the small size. There is nothing else that I would change. Everything came up to or exceeded expectation.

This is the third time we have stayed here the last was 4 years ago around tge same time. We booked a room overlooking the beach and solent. Was first class. Very large. Great bathroom with a proper bath. Large bedroom area and massive tv screen. As you enter there is a small area with a good hospitality tray fridge and a safe. As regards resturant we only had breakfast which on our package was free continental . If you chose from the menu then it was £15. To be honest there was less available than last time to choose from . However I must mention Anne one of the restuant staff she was there last time we visited and she is Totally First Class. Friendly efficiant in every way. A CREDIT to the hotel. The other staff were also 100%. There was a Spanish waiter whose name i cannot remember but he was first class as well. Also reception staff spot on 100%. You probably pay a bit more to stay here but it is totally worth it. We did not have any other meals there but I am sure they are first class

As I said before a bit more buffet choice would be nice. Maybe a toaster and bananas would be good.

Great building and sense of splendour in the public rooms such as the dining room. Very comfortable room with nice tea and biscuits in the hospitality tray. Nice to have a bath as well as a shower. Fine breakfast. Staff appeared professional. Room service was good. For me, a welcome change from staying in one of the chain hotels. which lack the character and personal touch. The location is excellent with Southsea Common across the road.

Not much to criticise. I don't know why hotels of this calibre are moving away from fine British ceramics to budget mugs that one sees in a Travelodge and a shame that the complimentary lotions which were fine are produced in China. There are still some quality UK producers which could be supported.

This was our 3rd stay here. The staff were very welcoming. The service in the bar was good, There was a great ambience gentle music playing in the background. The breakfast was plentiful and accommodated my dietary needs very well. The Hot food was hot and a great menu to choose from. The service was excellent.i would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

It was a very windy day and night. The double glazing is old and draughty . So more noticeable because it's blowing a gale. Also whilst a lovely room with double aspect window giving lovely views. At night I woke up thinking it was daylight, discovered it was the lights , lighting up the outside of the building and Name Queen's Hotel. I suggest a blackout blind to rectify the problem.

The hotel reception area was very impressive. All the staff were really helpful and pleasant. The location is perfect between Southsea pier and Gunwarf. The breakfast was good. Having parking on site is a bonus.

We were not happy with the first room we were given, as the windows were very small and frosted, so no view and couldn’t even open the windows. We were then moved to a brilliant room at the front of the hotel with big windows overlooking the sea. The room itself was much larger and the bed was massive. The staff were really helpful and moved us right away at no extra cost.

Lovely hotel overlooking the sea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and so were the cocktails! Lots of charm and character, we were very happy staying.

A couple of minor blots on an otherwise excellent stay. 1. Booked two rooms, one labelled "sea view" and paid a premium for it, but the "standard" room turned out to have a view of the sea too! In all honesty we couldn't tell which was the premium view! All good (for the kids), but it made me feel that paying extra for the sea view was pointless. 2. Our room had accesibility features which we didn't ask for and didn't want. They made things just a bit awkward and less stylish, which was disappointing.
