Seth!! What a genuinely nice staff member. He gave us the warmest of welcomes when we arrived and asked us polite questions regarding our stay. After learning it was for my 30th birthday and the fact my partner was moving away for work, he upgraded us to the suite out of the kindness of his heart. On top of this generous act, he also multitasked such as taking phone calls, reservations and helping other hotel guests whilst dealing with us at the same time. I believe Seth as an individual played a key role in the enjoyment of our stay as we had never expected the generosity. Seth is a fantastic asset this hotel and the hotel manager such be proud. The hotel room itself was lovely, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was lovely and the stay itself was incredible. I know for a fact, one of the hotel rooms (7) was having the time of their lives #PoorReceptionist #TimeOfTheirLives P.s. typing this out from the hotel itself as we already came back!

There wasn't a bath. We did know that when booking so it wasn't a big deal. It is very difficult to fault this hotel as we know for a fact, we will be back! P.s Seth wasnt on this time round :(

The room was clean and comfortable and suited what we needed , the staff were friendly and helpful ! The location is perfect for a walk on the shoreline or going into the city for a meal and drink !

My partner has a bad back so walking long distances is an issue so not having allocated parking was a slight issue , this said that's not the hotels fault and they don't advertise parking it's just a comment to think about for people who may have disabilities !! The hotel made sure we had a ground floor room to negate having to use the stairs which was helpful !

Fantastic location and excellent value! The room was a very good size and made up perfectly for us and our toddler (a super king-sized bed for us and a single low-level bed for our toddler). The bathroom was nice with a good shower that had excellent water pressure. The location was fantastic, as close to the beach as you can get and immediately opposite the lovely beachfront parks - in terms of the seafront it is located perfectly between the two peirs (both walking distance within less than 10mins). It also very close to Palmerston Rd with loads of bars, cafes, and restaurants - a 2min walk. A great choice of hotel to stay in Portsmouth, there is no food service but so close to a variety of restaurants with an excellent breakfast cafe close by which I think is much better than relying on hotel food etc.

The WIFI was a bit slow, but it was free, so can't really complain!

it’s a beautiful hotel very well put together. The location is great as well just a 30min walk to the centre but there are local shops about 5 mins away. Breakfast is in a lovely Cypriot restaurant great food and friendly staff. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and welcoming.

These aren’t real problems but just niggles. Although the breakfast was lovely it felt a little expensive especially if you were on holiday with a family. There wasn’t any milk on the tea tray there aren’t any plugs near the kettle so I had to do a little rearranging with the furniture. Although I put the sign out for someone to tidy the room (hoping I would get some milk as well) no one had been in. That was a little disappointing but on the whole a great stay. Would go back again.

The hotel was a perfect location for a night out in Portsmouth! The room was clean and the reception staff were lovely!

We had a room downstairs at the back of the property. It was boiling in the room with just a small window and just a small fan which did nothing!! Maybe for the rooms at the back, it would be better to have a bigger fan that circulated properly! We knew it didn’t do breakfast which is fine as there’s many places around for breakfast but maybe have a vending machine with drinks in etc

The location was fantastic & the room was tastefully decorated given that it was a single small room. I spent a comfortable 3 nights there

Just a comment rather than a dislike. There are a lot of stairs which was fine for me. It could be a problem for more elderly visitors or people with special access needs. I was aware when I booked about the entrance stairs but I don't think I was aware that there were so many stairs inside and that there was no lift when I booked.

The staff there are so lovely especially the manager. The hotel is in a perfect spot close to alot of the main attractions. We spent three nights and really managed to pack in alot as the hotel was close to everything. Room was very modern had a lovely bathroom we also had a tv and iron board/iron and my husband really loved the coffee station. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely consider going back.

We had an on going issue with our toliet which was annoying but to be fair the manager was on it and offered us free breakfast for the inconvenience. Room was really hot the fan wasn't enough but we was out most of the day so wasn't a big issue for us to complain about.

Plain room with no decor, just white walls, but modern and suitable for everyone. Lovely lobby and comunal areas. Fresh, white bedding and towels, clean and comfy. Lovely helpful staff. Nice location, no breakfast, but voucher received for the Farm Kitchen restaurant a few minutes walk away, and that was delicious. Would rate.

Not 'didn't like', but just to note that one of the shower doors came off it's track when I tried to close it (with normal force). I fixed it back into place fairly easily while in the shower 😄 but the doors didn't meet, leaving about an inch gap where water escaped. Could do with thicker pillows.

We stayed here last minute due to the treatment we received from the vile host of the Ashby, round the corner from the Q8. On arrival we were greeted by a really friendly gentleman on reception who was really helpful and after the horrendous experience we had been subject to at the Ashby this was a breath of fresh air. I wouldn't think twice about staying at the Q8 again, which just shows how important good customer service is. Thank you for making a long day better.

there was no bin in the bathroom but we did find a sanitary bin outside our room in the hallway the following morning.

Clean rooms, good value, near to the beach and restaurants. They allowed us to park at the rear of the hotel, which was very kind of them. I think, though, the back of the hotel needs tidying up a bit, if guests are being allowed to park there. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really liked the breakfast at The Farm Kitchen.

The small bed in the family room was lumpy, but they put an extra duvet on top, which helped. I felt that the foyer smelt of cigatette smoke, which wasn't great, but the rooms smelt fresh and clean.
