The Relais Henley

Spacious, relaxed feel. Recent fresh redesign inspired by the river and Henley history. Highly attentive and professional staff. Excellent food. Particular thanks to Pauline for masterminding the relaxed and efficient breakfast team. Plus Linda’s flat whites!

Brief all staff on the parking nearby so they can brief us fully! Hand out a sheet maybe? It was fine actually (we were pointed in the right direction and it’s not too bad, 5 mins walk) but more info on checkin would have been ideal. Read and act in advance requests made on booking.com! One of ours hadn’t seemingly been noticed. It was sorted on checkin though.

Very centrally located and lovely, friendly, helpful staff. The room was big and comfortable. Nice shower.

The hotel is located on the corner of a busy intersection, so the traffic noise is loud. We were on the 1st floor and buses could look straight into our bathroom if we had the bottom window open. There is a privacy blind, which we had down most of our stay, but that meant the windows stayed closed to block the sound and people looking in. There is aircon, but we prefer fresh air, so it’s a personal choice.

Joanne on reception was fantastic when we wanted to change the room. Sadly some of the rooms are not in the best position so best to request and pay for one overlooking the river. It is a town centre so I suppose you cant have it all.

As said previously some of the rooms are not in the best location in terms of a view but if this is not important to you the actual location of the whole hotel for visiting Henley is excellent. The car park has been converted to a beer garden so if arriving by car the best place to park is the train station at 10 quid a day. But its 10 minutes walk so take a brolly!

Ideally located across the road from the river, and at the edge of the shopping strip, this hotel is superbly decorated, spotlessly clean and the staff cannot do enough to oblige. The rooms are large and have comfortable furniture and beds. Bathrooms are clean, and the shower had great water pressure. Downstairs, the bar is cosy and the drawing room delightful. Outside is a courtyard with tables and chairs.... with heaters and blankets when it is chilly. I look forward to staying here again next time.

Everything was great! The only thing I didn't like was leaving.

A superbly renovated and decorated hotel that offers modern conveniences within a characterful historic building and a more recent wing overlooking Henley Rowing Club on the Thames. The thoughtful design of the spacious main wing room I booked provided everything one requires for a business trip or a longer pleasure stay: Ample built-in wardrobes, dressing table, espresso machine, and many convenient sockets to plug in electricals, computers etc. Every socket has a twin USB charger - great for phones and the many gadgets I carry with me. The bed was large and supremely comfortable, the furnishings period and tasteful, and the bathroom fitted with quality fittings, i.e. Burlington period style bath and taps. The standard of finish and excellent ergonomics - no stretching for towels or fumbling to find light switches - shows considerable thought went into the design. Dressing gowns, towels and linen were crisp, clean and a joy to use after a long journey. Breakfast and lunch were excellent and very reasonably priced, £12.50 and £16.50 respectively. Most notably, the service is outstanding - the staff were accommodating and efficient, and no request was too great an ask. Truly 5* at 3*/4* prices. Exceptional value for money.

Some may find the mild quirkiness of the main building layout to be a challenge if mobility is restricted - the main building is a period house with several staircases, otherwise, there is very little to dislike.

a beautiful fully restored old Inn with the best, super friendly staff. They really gave us the first class treatment. Restaurant and bar are very nice. Room quiet and comfortable. Great location, literally next door to historic sites and the Thames river. would be fabulous in summer on the patio and dock. can’t wait to go back. meals were excellent in the dining room. next time I’m staying longer. you can cab it to Heathrow, 30 mins, 40 pounds

The hotel was really nice. The staff were excellent

The booking .com write up said pets accepted which was true but confusing. Pets were allowed only in some rooms and not at all in any public space. Spoiled our visit since we couldn’t even use the bar unless we left the dog in the bedroom. Understandable but disappointing. Should have been made clear. We were given a very small room but after complaining we were given a very nice courtyard room. The staff were excellent and helped all they could given the house rules.

The politeness and courteousness of the staff were exceptional. Every member of staff we met were extremely welcoming and helpful. It was my Father’s 80th birthday on 18th March. The food at lunch that day was delicious and Nickill (I hope that is the correct spelling) and the team in the restaurant were wonderfully attentive and polite. Service fantastic. Breakfast the morning after also great. Bedrooms were so clean and comfortable.

Toilet handle flushing issues. Reported and fixed right away. Leakage on morning of departure but reported at same time.

A beautiful, characterful hotel. Spacious room. Comfortable beds with nice bed linen. Excellent shower. Lovely soft towels. Staff in reception and the restaurant (for our excellent breakfast) were all super friendly, helpful, attentive and efficient. Aircon in the room was a lifesaver on the hottest night of the year. Brilliantly located right next to the river and close to lots of pubs and restaurants.

The light from the aircon controller on the wall in the room was very bright at night.

Fabulous stay at the hotel for our son’s wedding on Temple Island and therefore the location was fantastically situated for both the Registry Office and the boats to get to Temple Island. The team at the hotel were very helpful in assisting us with our copious amount of luggage and even carried it to our room for us. Nothing was too much trouble. We were welcomed with a smile and left with another cheery smile and ‘ safe journey home’. Breakfast was delightful and all the restaurant team were extremely attentive. Service was quick and the food was delicious and presented beautifully. Overall very good value for money and I think we had been treated to an upgrade due to a leak in our ‘booked’ room - a positive gain for us!

Sorry to say - the inability to be able to park at the hotel but do understand as the hotel is right in the centre of town. The station car park is near and we received a good recommendation from a member of staff to pay by the parking app rather than by the machine as the time runs out at 4 am!!
