Location is great, it's near to X7 bus stop and at a 10-15 minutes scenic walk to Paulton's. Rooms were of good size, clean, comfy, with beautiful view, and with all the necessary amenities. Extra beds were arranged for the kids.Breakfast was good, dining area was spacious. There was an outside sitting area too. It had a car park.

We had to leave early for Paulton's park so we checked out at 9:30 am. We requested the staff to keep our bags with them as check in was not possible in the other hotel which was in Southampton. But the lady was quite insistent that we should take our luggage with us to Paulton's and keep it there. We told her that we don't have car, dragging our luggage all the way to the park with 2 kids in tow is not an ideal situation. We found it quite strange as all the other hotels are not so fussy, they keep your bags happily.

The whole experience was very positive. The place is situated at the edge of a village in New Forest, which is very quiet and relaxing. The wooden floors, the interior design and the sitting area in the back yard all create a very calm and peaceful countryside atmosphere. The staff were extremely nice, helpful, and patient. Breakfast was great, as well as the food served at the restaurant. They also have a lot of drought beers of different types to cater to anyone's taste. The room was big and spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. We came to New Forest mainly to go to Paultons Park (an amusement park), which is a walking distance from the accommodation, so for us the location was fabulous. If you plan on visiting mostly the rest of New Forest, there might be a car drive or taxi ride involved as well though.

The only caveat of the room was the lack of A/C. Usually, this would not be a problem in England, since heating is available in the room and the weather is usually very nice even in summer, however, recently England has been experiencing heat waves during the summer and sleeping without cooling at night was no picnic. The hotel did provide a fan which made sleeping possible, but still, on hot days, it's a little rough.

old building around 200 years old. great kitchen yummy food , my kids loved the pizza and Frensh fries , and the stake is so good. beds are comfortable. but the extra rolling beds were not , if you need them just lay the mattress on the floor better my kids loved that .

no AC , they provided a fan , in the night was not bad as we opened the windows . some spiders in the toilet, but that’s normal because of the location. the cleaning of the room for one of the rooms was not good enough as the dust were under the bed . but the other room cleaning was perfect

Great stay, lovely old pub, staff were really nice. Room was very spacious, comfy bed, food was really good we eat two evenings in the restaurant and breakfast was lovely. Good place to stay to explore the forest. Nothing not to like.

Cant think of anything we didnt like. If i had to be really picky, the floor boards above our room were really creaky, but its an old building and something you have to expect, but it adds to the carrector .

Liked the size of the room and the fact that the staff made the room up each day. Staff were very friendly but service was very slow.

Really bad dog wee smell as you enter from the back door. Dogs allowed to poo in family garden and not cleared up by owners who didn't even notice it, small kid were also playing in the garden at the time. Food not great apart from breakfast, could do with a new chef, never had such over done greasy Yorkshire pudding before and carrots were a mixture of cooked and completely raw. I could havd done a better roast, however the beef was very good and cooked perfectly. Had chicken burger which was okay but the triple cooked chips were awful didn't taste like they were cooked once, dry and hard not fluffy and crispy as I would have expected.

The staff were so perfectly charming. From everyone interaction I came away with the sense that they deeply care about what they do and they are doing their best to accommodate us.

I think some of the processes could be modernised. We booked four rooms, but 3 of the rooms were not equipped for the correct number of people i.e missing towels and bedding. 2 parties had to swap rooms, and a third party had to request head of house keeping to make up an extra bed. The staff did well to accommodate the confusion, it’s likely that the booking process could use some improvements. A minor point but the TV aerial in one of the TVs was held in by blu tac, which wasn’t quite sufficient to guarantee any reception 😅

The breakfast was very good the room was lovely . The evening meal was good.

The tap in the bathroom had been plumbed back to front cold and hot in opposite places. The shower was very hot in the evening and I would have liked a long mirror. The prawn cocktail I had for starter could have done with a bit more garnish and seasoning but overall the evening meal was enjoyable .

The staff at the Mortimer arms were lovely, really fun and gave us lots of useful tips during our visit. We had a huge room which was very comfortable and quiet. The food was great, huge portions and delicious. We would definitely stay here again when next visiting the new forest.

The temperature of the shower was a little unstable but this was a very minor quibble.

Staff were very welcoming and very child friendly, paying attention to the small details (providing toddler friendly cutlery) before we needed to ask. The staff were knowledgeable about the area and couldn't do enough for us. The location is ideal for exploring the area.

Our stay was good and we didn't have any problems during our stay.
