This is a little gem of a place, we were walking Offas dyke and it was about a mile of the path but still handy. It's a community run pub and well supported. Joy one of the people running it is a total star, no food was being served the evening we arrived so she ferried us to a nearby pub and then proceeded to pick us up an hour later. At time of writing food was served Fri/ Sat /Sun breakfast was minimal but adequate to see us on our way the next morning The local folk band was rehearsing during our stay adding to the experience (Wednesday eve)

It would have helped to know about the lack of kitchen service before we arrived- we would have brought more supplies with us but were trying to minimise bagage weight. If you are coming by car this is not an issue at all as plenty of local options nearby.

The room was great, in a lovely pub. Dinner was very good too. We felt the breakfast, left in the fridge for us, was a little unimaginative - croissants, cheese and jam. However, as there was a fridge, kettle, sink and microwave, we could have brought our own food and made more. But we were walking so that wasn't an option for us. It was adequate though, and the evening staff kindly provided us with plenty of fresh milk. Really appreciated the fact that the pub is run by volunteers - they do a super job!

We absolutely loved this place. It's a "community run" pub and they deserve all the bookings they can get to help them stay open. The pub was a good old fashioned village pub, food was really good, staff excellent. The bedroom/sitting room/ kitchenette we had was recently refurbished and very clean etc. Ideal to be able to cook in the well stocked kitchenette but we decided to eat in the pub. Would 100% def recommend this pub and would def be back whenever in the area again. Dog friendly and we had a good walk just from the pub in the morning with Cooper. Sadly only a brief 1 night stay.

All was good to be honest..

This is a really good place to stay, exceptionally well run, who accommodated our early arrival and late check out without issue. This is a community run pub and accommodation and these are the places that need to be used to help them survive as it's the heart of the community. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room catered for our needs, comfortable beds, fresh linen/towels, plenty of tea/coffee/hot chocolate satchets and milk etc. The breakfast bag of croissants/Jam/orange juice was much appreciated. Lovely location and I would recommend it and definitely stay there again.

Unfortunately, the night we stayed, there were no meals been served, so if booking and want a meal, check beforehand as there is no other option in the village. Also, a welcome pack with a write-up about the history of pub/village, local walks, etc. would be a nice touch.

Room was great - although quite small for two people. Really useful to have a microwave although Joy offered to heat up our meals in the pub. The pub quiz was a brilliant, unexpected addition to our stay.

Room was on the small side but had all the facilties we needed. It would be really helpful if the pub could offer simple options for food on all days. As walkers it is not always easy to find evening meals and carry them - it would have been really helpful to know there was also a village shop near the pub.

The view over the church was lovely and the village had a friendly feel. The room was comfortable. The accommodation was as advertised so as we were there on a kitchen closed day we had bought a meal to heat in the microwave which was in the kitchen area of the room. There are community shops in Pen y Stryt and Llanarmon-yn-Lal and we were walkers. The Raven inn also has a visiting cat co-host who kept us company as we enjoyed our after dinner drink.

The only issue was that there was no-one there to let us in at 5pm as the pub wasn't opening until 6.15. The evening's host did arrive shortly after I called the Raven's number and left a message. The pub's visiting cat was there on the dot of 5 and kept us warm. We weren't waiting long.

Good food in the pub both nights we stayed. Nice view out across to the church. Kitchenette useful as we brought breakfast things plus some breakfast items are provided in case you didn't realise breakfast not included.

Room a little small so no bedside table on my side. First night a bit noisy right outside our window as pub customers enjoyed the warm weather finishing their drinks

Raven Inn is an old pub that is community owned - therefore it is only a few days per weeks possible to have dinner in the inn. Very nice and very quit location in a lovely small village, just opposite the church and green. Room was okay, nice view. Every tuesday is pub quiz for the locals, we joined, which was a bonus to our stay.

There was a breakfast bag in the fridge, but with croissant to bake - but we had no oven! Breakfast choice could have been a bit better, also regarding the prices of the room (80 pound twinroom with small bathroom).

We were warmly welcomed. Despite being extremely busy the person concerned took time to explain everything that we needed to know to make our stay a joy. The room was light reasonably sized and well equipped. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The evening meal was well served, well organized and delicious. This is a community run establishment based mainly on volunteers and it put a number of professional places I have stayed at to shame. A continental breakfast was left in a fridge in the room and was more than adequate. The setting is idyllic.

Lovely historic inn in a pretty village. We stayed while walking the Offa's Dyke Path. We arrived long after the restaurant had closed for the day (a Sunday, so they stopped serving at 4 PM), and one of the servers kindly came back when we arrived to prepare our food. Very nice room, renovated but preserved the charm.

Cold breakfast in the frig in your room when the restaurant is closed (a few days a week)
