The Chainbridge Hotel

Friendly and courteous service; all staff were very helpful and pleasant. Good food (especially good breakfast) and drink in a comfortable bar/restaurant. Great views and beautiful location and local area.

Car Park could be better organised as cars parked across lines in restricted area. Wi-fi poor and EE phone signal very weak/non-existent - but hopefully/probably not what you'd come here for. Rooms, especially bathroom, a little dated and basic for my taste but perfectly clean and comfortable. The rapids are very loud which is neither a positive or a negative - just an observation for any light sleepers in a balcony/riverside room.

The room itself was tiny. The bed mattress was old and needed replacing. I nearly fell out of bed because of it and had a terrible nights sleep. This hotel isn't for those who are infirm. It is in a steep river valley. There is no lift and the stairs are steep. Don't bring a suitcase, an overnight bag would be better. There is parking for a dozen or so cars down at the hotel level. If you can only get a space on the next level up there are sets of steep metal steps to get down to the hotel or a long walk round.

Fabulous location right on the river Dee. We had a second floor room with a balcony. Loved the noise of the river and found it really soothing at night as well, but not for people who expect a deadly quiet night. Lovely room, very clean and comfortable beds. Staff were all really pleasant, helpful and friendly. We had an evening meal on the first night and it was reasonable, but nothing special. Breakfast was adequate. We both had the cooked breakfast which was pleasant - the sausages were Lovely. Lots of choice. In general, we had a lovely stay and will Definitely return.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see a lift! LOL We had a second floor room and my knees didn't enjoy the stairs, but seriously, this is a lovely hotel and the rooms with balconies over the river are a bonus.

The position on the river. The room was large and comfortable. The meals were good value. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Maybe just a few suggestions We got there before 3pm, we didn’t want check, we just wanted so info as the Visitors Centre was closed (it was a Thursday). Be a good idea to be able to have info re local attractions. The dining room has a superb location. A few things- the menus could be laminated, they tended to be dog eared and scruffy. The staff in the dining room were very pleasant and helpful, however their dress was not in keeping with the surrounds. Bare midriffs is really not appropriate in a dining room like the Chainbridge. Sorry to be a little critical.

Very pleasant surroundings close to horseshoe falls located between canal and river. About 20 minute walk into Llangollen along the canal path. Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast. Nice little snug area to sit in the evening and balcony overlooking the river.

Although very pleasant surroundings the price for the room did not match expectations. Very small room and glass instead of plastic cups would be preferable. Cobwebs in doorway to bedroom area. Parking difficult and needs dedicated motorcycle area as spaces taken up by bikes on our visit. I am not against motorcyclists as I am one, but the area under the walkway/bridge could be used to save some space for cars.

Location was beautiful, in an AONB, beautiful rooms with stunning Deeside views from a covered balcony, the teaming sound of the rapids to fall asleep to, tranquil , amazing service from a team of staff who go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Freshly cooked heart breakfast and option to dine there in the evenings which we did on our first night, home cooked superb pie, and a bread and butter pudding , which was divine.

Faultless stay. Beautiful setting, warm friendly staff, clean and comfortable surroundings, a lovely flat walk into Llangollen, heritage railway on the other side of the river at Berwyn station. Narrowboat trips. A wonderful nearby bakery. Quirky quaint shops. Lots to see and do .

The rooms, location and food was gorgeous

The smoking policy you have. At 10pm with our door open to the balcony, next door sparked up a Marijuana jiont! I rang into the property and asked what your smoking policy is. Was told no smoking in building but ok on balconies. That’s awful as you have not provided ashtrays on the balcony furniture and I thought you had to have a designated area for smoking? Someone did aprox h the room next door I think as I heard someone taking and the smell stopped. However no mention of it the next morning to us by anyone! Think your smoking policy needs looking into!! Apart from that we loved it x

Location, room and view (stunning)... Bathroom more than adequate. Bar area cosy and welcoming, Restaurant the same... *Food was good and plentiful. Pie's lovely! Starter choice really nice... Staff, superb and accommodating...

*Food, menu choice needs a rethink, evening and breakfast. Tad tired... The location, dictates a captive audience, make the menu sing with local produce! Pizzas great, put the oven on show, make it a crowd pleaser!!... Item's we're not available on the breakfast menu, scrub them off! And, oddly enough no fruit or cereal! Definitely not catering for dietary needs... We were fine, frustrated, but, generally appreciated all the efforts. You'll find, however, others were not... Drink prices, a tad expensive. Quality was fine though... Bedroom; Power point for hairdryer no where near the dressing table!

Second time staying at this lovely family run hotel and we loved it as much as the first. All the staff are friendly, attentive and looked after our every need; nothing seemed too much trouble and they genuinely care and want to make your stay the best for you that they can. The entire hotel is immaculate, well looked after and maintained. Each time we've stayed there have been beautiful flowers to greet us on the veranda and hanging baskets and the location could not be more perfect. Our first stay was in one of the upper balcony rooms overlooking the river and this last stay was in one of the downstairs dog-friendly rooms. I was hugely appreciative of the separate entry door that each of the dog friendly rooms has which made it much easier as we did not have to trail in and out of the main entrance with our fear-reactive floofball! I would recommend The Chainbridge to anyone who wants a beautiful location, friendly and attentive service and delicious food. 10/10

There wasn't anything that we didn't like!

The Chainbridge Hotel is totally enveloped in the countryside beside the rushing, gushing and gorgeous river Dee. Do not expect shops, pubs or pharmacies, this is proper rural. It's a very special place. There is a charming canal walk into the town of LLangollen that takes about 20 minutes with good pub and restaurant options. Upon return, we were looked after by the very charismatic Gemma, who catered for Irish whims (a last extra pint) and warned against the lack of wifi in the Valleys (i.e. talk to one another, noses out of the phones), no harm. Gorgeous people.
