Holiday Inn Express London Heathrow T5, an IHG Hotel

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Check-in was surprisingly quick despite the lobby being full of guests. The buffet breakfast was great - a really good choice of food and drink. Travel from Heathrow airport is reasonably inexpensive and relatively straightforward, either by no. 4 bus from airport or shared e-shuttle back to airport. Full-price taxis are expensive.

I would have liked a reasonably-priced shuttle to and from the airport provided by the hotel. It was difficult to find out how to get to and from the hotel without paying a lot of money for a taxi, although on my 2nd visit I knew what to do.

The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking space on my arrival. Terry at the reception explained everything during check-in and he was polite and professional. The room was bigger than expected and nicely decorated. I especially liked the bathroom with huge bright mirrors and a very spacious shower cabin. The complimentary soap had a lovely scent. The rooms were surprisingly quiet! This was my main concern considering the hotel's proximity to the M4 and Heathrow. But nothing could be heard in the room of the traffic or passing planes. The bed was comfy, the sofa bed was adequate - good for a night or two. The pillows were great though! The air conditioning worked well in the room and kept us nice and cosy on a cold night in January. The buffet breakfast was good but this is what suffered from the tight budget. Hot breakfast options were: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and beans. No mushroom, hasbrown, tomatoes. The quality of the food was just what you can expect for the money. It didn't taste really nice if I'm honest, but I had worse. There were two toasters available and the buffet was well laid out. Other food options were: croissants, muffins, youghurts, cereal, jam, nutella and fruits. And of course there were fruit juices, tea (only breakfast tea) and several coffee options. Overall experience was very good for the asking price.

If I had to say something I didn't like it would be the temperature in the restaurant which was too cold. I was wearing 3 layers and I was shivering during breakfast. The waitress was a bit too eager to clear the plates from the table.

Location was great for what we went for. Ideal for Windsor and Thorpe Park. All staff were attentive when we needed things. Choice of breakfast was decent and even offered Gluten Free cereal and Toast

Noise from Atlantis was too loud. one of our party was given the room.direclty above and had to change rooms due to the music and base banging below Not a great start to the weekend for them 😕 Also Aircon wasn't set to stay on. Once active it went off after a few seconds. With it being spring now and weather heating up I feel as a guest we should have the choice to have air con on or off and it not be centrally controlled per floor which we found out. Also no opening windows in the room. Understandably safety reasons but most hotels have a sliding window that opens for airflow. Found this strange and uncomfortable. We did ask for Aircon to be fixed and it was however this shouldn't need to be done..

No hot water to the shower

Close to what we needed. Good breakfast. Good price. Very clean. Very helpful cleaning staff, we wanted more towels but not a full room clean and she advised if putting the sign on the door as we didn't want anyone to go in the room. Cleaning staff said good morning both mornings that we were there, very smiley and nice.

Room had been cancelled (not by us)- this was rectified but took a while, we had travelled a few hours with young children and just wanted to be in the room, reception staff didnt apologise about the mix up, just said the manager had accepted it (after seeing the booking on my phone that was confirmed)- which was good as we didnt cancel it in the first place! Bathroom smelt like mould (there was a little bit in the shower, round the seals), once the shower had been run the smell went away a bit, but came back the day after.

The hotel was exceptionally clean, tidy and extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I had a long wait before I started my return journey home and I was made to feel very welcome to wait in the comfortable seating areas until it was time to leave. The receptionists were more than helpful to arrange a shuttle transfer back to H/Row for my onward journey which was really helpful.

I was given the impression that there was a shuttle bus transfer available from H/Row T5 to the hotel. Apparently, this is incorrect and I had to resort to taking a taxi which was an added expense. What a pity the excellent shuttle transfer available from the hotel to T5 isn't available in reverse.

The breakfast was a bit of a shambles. Lots of waiting around for plates and cutlery to be available. seemed to be a shortage on knives as lots of people was waiting around and asking for them but they only brought out a few at a time. Food was ok once we finally got what we needed. Also parking is very expensive when your already paying to stay in the hotel, this is the first hotel Iv ever stayed at where Iv had to pay …. £16 a day is a lot if ur not even using the car park for that whole day we dint arrive until 8pm and was gone by 9.30am.

I’ve stopped at this property many times previously due to its location to LHR. Easy and cheap to travel from any of the terminals via public transport, don’t use a taxi or Uber if you want to save money. use google maps and it will highlight which busses to use and where to find them. Very clean and tidy with a great cooked breakfast if desired!

unfortunately I’d forgotten the weekend I was travelling back into the UK was also the Coronation weekend. The venue was packed with all manner of people, very noisy at certain points through the night - not the hotels fault.

price was good. very comfortable beds. manager was able to accommodate a request a room away from the noisy lounge. the step in, relatively accessible shower suited our needs. nice hygiene products (soap and shampoo). impressively quick response to a maintenance request (TV was missing a cable). breakfast was excellent (don’t skip the croissants). it was conveniently served by a local/city bus (service number 7 from stand 8 outside terminal 5), which was a bargain at £2 per person and ran every 30 minutes. bus accepted contactless payments; not sure if cash was an option.

the website could have been clearer about the bus service (I got the impression it was served by the Hotel Hoppa, but it’s not). the bus stop was about 150 yards from the hotel which may be problematic for travelers with disabilities or huge amounts of luggage. taxi service was also available but much pricier. breakfast service was short staffed so at the busiest times there were waits for clean mugs, etc. no big issues though.
