Love that this place is right next to the beach. Plus only a few minutes walk to the lovely parks, beaches, and fair, good place to eat, or get a drink. The room was large, good facilities and was clean. It looked out over the restaurant and out over to North Shields, which was lovely. This was a ‘treat hotel’ to end a mini cruise break to Amsterdam, and we wanted a good night sleep before travelling back home to Stockport. We had a Sunday lunch 2 course meal, which was really nice, and with desert it’s a really great price. Hotel clean and welcoming. There was a wedding on the night we stayed, but I have to say we were not disturbed by it at all.

We stayed in a Seaview room that I paid extra for. But I was very disappointed that the twin beds in our room were terribly uncomfortable. Could feel all the springs, and the pillows weren’t great either. So for the price I paid i was rather disappointed. I did hang around to mention to staff on leaving, but they were busy with wedding guests. Which was not a problem, as other things were being dealt with, plus we needed to get to the metro station. I had stayed previously and the bed was amazing, almost didn’t wake up for breakfast.

My friend & I really enjoyed our stay at your beautiful Hotel! The breakfast included was exceptional. We had a few meals in the Restaurant over our 4 nights stay which were beautiful! The Staff couldn't do enough for us & we're so friendly! Our room which we requested on a low floor was spotless & clean, the cleaning staff made sure we had supplies of towels, toilet rolls & emptied the bins on a daily basis! The views from our window was panoramic, & we were fascinated with the big Cruise liners passing. We will definately be coming back! The weather was against us with the heavy rain, but it didn't keep us in! Thank you for having us 😃

I can't say we disliked anything. But if you have twin beds next time we come, if not room number 107 with a queen bed will be fine again 👍 My only other question is why no entertainment? That would be like fitting the last piece of a jigsaw I'm! We are in our 70s & didn't feel like getting ready to catch a taxi to Town for some entertainment after a day of strolling & finding our bearings, if there were entertainment we would have spent more time in the bar! These are not complaints, just suggestions!

Lovely big room, comfortable bed, quiet and peaceful, great view from room looking out to the mouth of the Tyne and the beach. Friendly, helpful, cheerful staff. Breakfast plentiful and varied.

Service in the restaurant in the evening poor. First evening after drinks served, fairly promptly, then waited 15 minutes for food order to be taken, after attention of waitress caught. Restaurant wasn't busy and 3 staff were variously chatting, wiping cutlery and disappearing into kitchen. Second evening took 55 minutes for our food from ordering to service. Again, not particularly busy, coach tour had already eaten. Waitress, when asked after 50 minutes if food on the way, remarked the kitchen seemed to be on a go slow. When it came, food was delicious, well cooked and presented. Shame about the wait.

Brilliant hotel and location, easy parking near to entrance re bags/suitcase etc. Rooms brilliant with exceptional views, something always to see re water, saw cruise ship, ferry, working and pleasure boats. Very interesting and even when a little rain could look through window, have open and see the sea/river over to Tynemouth Abbey. Breakfast large variety of choice (only small point am vegetarian and you have to pre order in the dining room although had said one vegetarian when booking, worth noting if a vegetarian so did not have full breakfast options re vegetarian. Was wedding etc whilst there but no issues the hotel can absorb that and good if you are not part of the wedding party can opt for room away from this. Brilliant stay would recommend and use again. Cleaning of rooms is exemplary done daily towels,coffee/tea etc and toiletries replaced again daily. Gd liaison with staff throughout.

As above breakfast if vegetarian, can do this but need to not only let hotel know but dining room as well

Location is beautiful. River and sea views are amazing. Breakfast busy but nice. Cooked breakfast very good. Other breakfast foods offered were ok. Had a Sunday Lunch, evening meal and sandwiches. All very nice and reasonably priced. Even when busy, wait times for food were clearly communicated and food was fresh. Chef has prepared meal to a high standard for a 3 star hotel. Check in was later than advertised on Booking.com but receptionist communicated this well. Rooms are basic but very clean. Older family member would have appreciated a grab rail in bath.

Early breakfast finish! (845)

Can’t wait to return we travelled to South Shields to visit family and chose this hotel as it was near the Groyne and beach. There were events on at the hotel but this didn’t bother us and our room was facing the marque. The rooms were lovely just what you need for a hotel stay and they were cleaned and replenished every day. The walks in the area are brilliant and you can get a ferry over the Tyne. All in all a wonderful visit thank you to all the staff at The Little Haven Hotel

The breakfast times 8:45am finish on weekdays and 9:15am finish at the weekends!

Room 232 had three window sections, each with a fantastic view of various parts of the bay/beach - could just sit and watch (some shipping activity was a bonus to view) and relax. And the windows opened fully (not like some economy hotels with window 'restrictors') so plenty of opportunity to get nice fresh sea air ventilation. Super location, so near to the beach

Was difficult to get the lights to work - they seem to be synced in a strange way that, if the side lights aren't turned on, then no other lights will come on (and vice versa) - all Ok in the end, though. Privacy wasn't always brilliant, as there's potential for people walking by to/from 'pier' to be nosey.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Bed very comfortable too. Location is very quiet but still easy walking to parks, shops and fairground.

Again booking a room with a view was allocated on ground floor. View of outside tables for the bar and people walking over the grass within a foot of your window. Beyond the tables you could see the river which was better than last time, if you stood on your tiptoes you could see over the outside tables for the dining room and hedge. Other than the view no complaints. They could do with an extra staff member on breakfast service as they were all working flat out and barely keeping up with demand.

My usual hotel was closed for refurbishment so this was the next choice it was built around the Mid eighties, but its been kept up and well maintained. so its like stepping back in time to a sound track of Wham & simple minds and Phil Collins! Receptionist was lovely and got me in to the last sitting of dinner and was very helpful. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The room was very clean spacious and my view was probably the best Ive had this year looking out over the Tyne Harbour Breakfast was a canteen style half self serve and cooked breakfast doled out for you. Choice was ok but limited it is in a big glass conservatory that's seen better days. There is good parking but you need to register at reception or the fine is hefty. Dinner was very good considering I didn't have time to check in first! Thankfully unlike my last hotel it did have tea & coffee and Biscuits!

Its a very old fashioned hotel in its ethos it felt like stepping back in time meal times are regimented and for a limited time so if your a late traveller the restaurant closes at 7:30 not 9:30 or 10:00 like most hotels. Also last sitting for breakfast is 8:45. The rooms are bright & clean but again stuck in a time warp but its obviously a popular location.

Location is beautiful and if you get beach view it's lovely to wake up too. All staff I encountered were helpful and polite, from reception to bar staff, cleaners and catering. Breakfast was OK, I'm Veggie and had veg sausage cooked to order on day one and they came over cooked and too hard too eat. I appreciate they aren't like meat sausages and staff might not have a lot of experience in cooking them so the second day I left it and had the other items - beans, tomato, scrambled egg, hash brown and mushroom. This was absolutely fine and there is fresh fruit, Yoghurt, toast, jams, cereal etc. Juice, tea, coffee. Previous reviews regarding staff in breakfast room I can say everyone was lovely and helpful to us. I can't fault them.

Bed was too soft for me but obviously this is down to personal preference and could be fine for another.
