Clarion Hotel Newcastle South

The staff were friendly and very helpful during our stay. They answered our questions and made us feel quite welcome, even going so far as to move our room to the first floor to assist with out disability requirements since the lift was unavailable for a time when we checked in. The breakfast was also good, the rooms clean, and the location spot-on.

The light switches in the room we were given were a little puzzle-like. Certain switches had to be flipped under the lights themselves before the main switches would work, but once we got the combination figured, out it we had no more troubles for the remainder of our stay. The staff were very helpful with this!

Will definitely stay here again. We booked in to be near Stadium of Light for a concert. This hotel and their staff went above and beyond to accommodate everyone who was attending the concert. They had arranged a pamphlet with all the details one would need to get their way around. Good choice of hot and cold items for breakfast. Lovely, clean and comfortable room. Attentive, polite and friendly staff. Not too far to the Metro.

Because it was very busy (concert, wedding and an event) they were let down by their breakfast. Food was lukewarm and took a long time to replenish items that had finished.

We came upon for the P!nk gig. The staff were all fantastic, we got early access to our room, there were maps and information on getting to the gig and various different info for taxis and transport which exceeded my expectations. The food for breakfast was fantastic. We will definitely be visiting you again.

Due to the concert on the night we thought triple in the normal price was a steep hike, also we had no hot water in our room. Which to be fair we didn’t inform anyone of but I am fairly confident the team would have rectified the issue should they have been aware.

my wife and I met here at this hotel 10 years ago in the Jacuzzi when the hotel was under its previous name. we chose to have a night here as part of our 10 year anniversary and go back in the jacuzzi but unfortunately it was closed. we were really disappointed and it did spoil the stay for us as we were not informed when I rang up to ask about the spa facilities. I am however still giving a 5 star review due to it being the place I first met my now wife as it brought many years of happinesses and we aim to come back when the jacuzzi is fixed.

The staff where nice and polite and welcoming The pool was a nice activity for being pregnant The bedroom was very clean we stayed in the big room The suite witch was lovely.

The only thing I would fault was the evening food we waited around 45 minutes for put food to come out but we thought it wouldn't take long since us being the only ones down stairs? Our food came it looked nice but it did not taste good it was very bland and tasteless we complained appropriately and we got a refund and a free breakfast in the morning witch was nice of the staff to do for us.

The hotel was ideal for my great north run run. The Sunday roast was out of this world the bed was comfortable and the extras laid on for runners was fantastic and a lovely touch

The fact that a wedding party was able to be around while we was eating, so may be a partition would have been good. Breakfast on Monday was not good there was no fresh fruit to have with yogurt, also the hot food was not topped up until I complained also chef went on break after asking for poached eggs. There was also a firework display rather late that woke us up . But I will say the manager delt with the problems right away.

Staff friendly offered a warm welcome - the beds were oh so comfy and the swimming pool exceptionally clean there were two weddings during our stay despite all we heard nothing once in our room very quiet

Room 137 the spider on the ceiling opposite the bed I thought it was a dead spider but it moved a little during the night !!!!! We needed to time our trips to the bar as there were a few functions on

poor service on bar, went to bar for night-cap and was told tills were off, was only 10.30pm, after advising we didn’t have a card attached to room staff reluctantly said would serve us if we had correct money … asked to pay by card and was told card machines had been cash up … but if we waited 15 minutes they would be back up and running, offered to leave swipe of card but was told no … decided not to bother waiting after being blocked all ways just to have 1 drink before bed

the property was Very well laid out, everything was easy to find

we could have catered a little more at breakfast time for Vegetarians, I had to ask for some vegetarian sausages and also for some porridge. it would have been nice to see what was offered in a menu ? Also in the bathrooms if you step over the bath to have a shower in a morning , once finished it’s very slippy in and there is no hand rail on the shower to help you get out the floor of the bath of the shower,m so you don’t slip.

hotel was lovely in terms of cleanliness and facilities were lovely. Food in the restaurant was beautiful - highly recommend, shame about the unpleasant atmosphere of a rowdy wedding.

would of liked to have been advised upon booking that there was a wedding taking place the same day / evening. wedding guests were rowdy while we were trying to eat in the restaurant which did make the experience unpleasant. Certainly would not have booked if were made aware of this, didn’t actually realise this was a wedding venue, first time coming here.
