Good location - less than 10 mins walk to the centre. Free parking - small car park but plenty of space to park in the street. Very helpful smiley staff. Good breakfast. We had dinner as well, which was tasty and very good value. The room was compact but clean and comfortable. Overall excellent value for money given the location.

Decor was okay but the window frames could do with some attention. The TV had a line across the top of the screen which was a bit annoying but you could still see what was going on. Radiator took a while to warm up but got there in the end!

the property is right off the High Street- great location. the breakfast was superb!! LOVED the eggs Benedict with the Hollandaise on the side.

the property states it offers Wifi throughout the hotel, however there was NO service in Room 1. I went down twice to speak with the staff (which is what the welcome booklet instructs to do) and while she did reboot the modem, nothing was done to help. either don’t offer wifi or buy a booster for the property (very easy solution).

The location is good, along the side of the hotel you head to the Pier and seafront, heading up the road across the front of the hotel leads into town (bear right and you head to the harbour, past the water tower), and you can go in a circle through town back past the pier. The staff were nice, breakfast was decent (but would benefit from baked beans with the breakfast), there is a bar (noting the town bars close at 9.30pm).

The dinner bookings closed a bit before the 7.30pm deadline, so we struggled to find a place for dinner on the Sunday night. There is no air conditioning, but the room was OK without it. This is a fairly old building so some of the wallpaper in the bathroom was coming a bit loose, and the floorboards a bit squeaky, hardly material though. There is some parking, but we got blocked in by other guests when we parked at the back who parked right up against us (not the hotels fault), so we parked on the road thereafter, plenty of spaces along the road.

Although undergoing and in need of upgrading, we found the Blyth very clean and comfy. It was a short walk to the centre of town and quiet. Our room had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and was generous. The old hotel had a lot of potential and is better inside than it appears from the outside.

The hotel was the perfect place to stay to explore Southwold, but we found the town itself disappointing. There was nowhere in town to eat at night time; the hotel restaurant was closed and the bar shut at 9pm. If we were to return to the town, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Blyth, but we see no good reason to return.

This hotel is excellent. The rooms and hotel itself are tired and could do with a revamp, but it is clean, has a lovely bar, the staff are exceptional, the breakfast is really really good - full breakfast, salmon, unlimited toast, jams, yogurts, tea, coffee and juices. Small car park, but plenty of on street parking. Short walk into town, which is perfect. I would highly recommend The Blyth if you want a budget weekend away with breakfast included.

Hotel could do with a revamp and the bar could stock more general draft beers (partner's comment). But generally I enjoyed the whole stay.

Large, impressive and well decorated hotel towards the edge of Southwold. Lovely reception from the helpful young ladies; one cheerfully went off to find decaf tea. One to replace batteries for the tv remote. I loved the room with its huge windows and a large balcony with table and chairs. Large double ‘sleigh’ bed with nice clean bedding. Tele, wardrobes, tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits. The bathroom is bright and warm and clean with shower over. The shower wasn’t overly hot, but, warm enough. Towels and (industrial) toiletries provided. The hotel is bright and has a bar (not open on the Sunday night) and a large (and small) eating area (restaurant?) for breakfast. Breakfast was OK. Juices (Apple or orange). Yoghurts and/or toast and jams and tea or coffee. Good Full English with black pudding and fried bread! The area is quiet being opposite Southwold Police Station! Five minutes to town. Town is the lovely Southwold.

Breakfast was strange! No cereals. The shower water needs time to arrive!

The location of the Blyth is excellent, being just a short 10 minute walk from the centre and beach, plus it has free parking both in the carpark and on the street. The staff and the breakfast were both exceptional. Dinner was enjoyable and good value. Our room, although on the small side was comfortable and clean. The hotel in general is freshly and tastefully decorated throughout. The bar and garden have great potential for the future as could be used for events etc.

The only very slight niggles were the shower door was a bit rickety but worked, and some anti-mould spray wouldn't go amiss to get rid dark stains on the grout within the shower. The expel-air could also do with a clean. I am being really picky, but it would have made a 'very good' into 'an excellent'. Also the bar shuts at 9pm. Maybe they should try attracting non-residents and stay open later.

The staff were very pleasant, food good and plentiful

The room I had was tired and in my opinion was only a single, if there were two people in this room, one would have to sit on the bed as there was only 1 uncomfortable chair the shower was very small and no shelves to put your toiletries on did point these problems out at the time as constructive criticism I know that this is work in progress but my room No 2 should not be sold as a double

Hannah on reception was really lovely, a credit to the team. Location good, parking a bonus, lovely big bed, rooms were a good temperature. Breakfast was lovely. Given some of the reviews on here, I was pleasantly surprised x

The TV in the room (11) could do with a manoeuvrable wall mount, so that it could be positioned to enable watching whilst in bed. Quite expensive, but we booked an hour or so before arriving .. that said, £125 was £90 cheaper than the next cheapest in Southwold for the night! Yikes!!

The location was excellent for easy access to both the town and the sea front/pier. Although the room was small and the bathroom a little tired, it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast and evening meal were all delicious. The staff are a true asset to this hotel and more than make up for it faults. Great value for money for the area.

The kerb appeal could have been better with a few flowers and hanging baskets ( the dead trees removed at the front), as the views from the hotel aren’t great. The Brewery who own it need to spend a little money on it to bring it up to scratch.
