The Bell Hotel, Saxmundham

The Bell Hotel Saxmundham was nothing other than *Outstanding* despite nearing the end of complete renovation works. This didn’t matter to us at all. The House Manager Ashley was just brilliant he couldn’t do enough for us and was extremely professional, well spoken and dressed really very smart as a Manager in hospitality should be. Callum who also works there was also most efficient and very helpful indeed.

There was nothing at all we didn’t like. our immediate impression being escorted into our room by Callum was WOW this is really spectacular. The interior design and colour ways are A* . The Hotel’s location on the quintessentially British High Street was picture perfect. parking was a 2 minute walk upwards behind the hotel. The breakfast choice was more than plentiful everting was just fabulous without fault. Saxmundham is just a short 10-15 minute taxi trip to the unbelievable Wilderness Reserve in Yoxford where we were attending a wedding.

We booked a night as we had to drop of machinery for work in Aldeburgh and the next day pick up a Tourer from Aldeburgh to be taken to Nottingham, so it made sense to book close to Aldeburgh. The hotel is situated in the middle of the centre and car park is close by, only 10 minutes drive from Aldeburgh! The place has just been renovated and was absolutely superb! Staff was very helpful and friendly! The room is very spacious and shower was lovely! the bar and outside seating area are great! the restaurant was great! food was superb ! After 23.00 the village quietens down and you think you are in the middle of nowhere, the silence is great, we slept like angels!! we will be coming back!

nothing to fault, so if i have to nit pick i would say the 5 hotel parking places are a bit difficult to find so i just parked at the market place parking which is free from 1800-0800. we are frequent hotel users and i have to say this is the best hotel we have stayed in for a long time!!! This place beats anything in a radius of 20 miles! The price is very reasonable and if you have to choose between the popular Aldeburgh or this sweet little village i would come back here again for my peaceful night sleep and great food and lovely staff!!

Historic surroundings, beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean and recently refurbished, very calm and comfortable. Beds are large and super comfortable. Bathroom was large and stunning, beautiful new fittings.

This is a slight issue and the Only thing, as the hotel is incredible overall. Some air conditioning for really hot weather possibly though a good fan was appreciated. Due to being a Grade II listed property it does not have double glazing so a little noise from the traffic travels up when the windows are open.

We didn’t have breakfast as the price seemed excessive. The evening meal was well prepared, served and at a good price. The welcome and service was excellent. The room, newly refurbished, comfortable and pleasantly furnished, and the en suite spacious and spotless. We would happily return and certainly recommend

Renovations are ongoing which detracts a little from the experience. I wonder also if it’s not time for all double rooms to provide king sized beds?

Opening just 2 weeks ago we were welcomed with Christmas wishes. Recent renovation, though incomplete has been well done. Looking forward to the finished lodging and dining. Clearly this "rebirth" of the Bell Hotel will lead to it being the social center of Saxmundham. Well done Ashley and Team!

the finish of the ongoing building works is very good and the rooms very comfortable particularly the bed and linen. Obviously with the building works the noise disturbed by stay with workmen arriving from 7.45

I think training g needs to be given regarding client interaction as during my three days nobody make any attempt to talk to me, all very robotic

the presentation of the hotel. it’s fantastic it’s been recently refurbished and the decor is absolutely amazing. the rooms have been finished to the highest of standards and we absolutely loved our stay that much that were already looking at when to book for our next visit. the management and staff were amazing couldn’t do enough for you the options for breakfast were amazing. so much to choose from. loved the options

Property was lovely and clean and the staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly.

The room itself was very spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately for us, the weather was very warm and so was the room. Even with two fans, it was unbearably hot and stuffy. The staff did all they could to help so there’s no complaints there.

Car parking availability could have been clearer. Hotel does have parking for staying guests but by the time we returned all spaces were full later in the day. We found road parking nearby which is free after 6pm on Saturday through to Monday

Staff really friendly, especially Matthew who went out of his way for us and even found us a car parking space. Charmingly decorated room, high and comfortable bed, large bathroom, brilliantly clean, larger than expected room, lots of plug sockets, water as well as tea and coffee, biscuits! Stayed in Room 2, Walberswick.
