The Randolph Hotel

Property mostly in good condition and room is spacious. The hotel is mostly modernised and looks good. Excellent position for the sea. A little too far to walk with a young family. Breakfast was good

Bad smell in bathroom, When we stayed on one particular evening there were a large number of dogs (5 I think?) running around the children’s play area. Probably a one off however perhaps not ideal to allow dogs into the children’s area? The owners were complaining about not being allowed in to the hotel with them but took them into the children’s playground. Hallways could do with modernising.

The Randolph was well run, comfortable, clean and spacious both inside our room and in the outside garden area, and is just a twenty minute walk into Southwold centre. Our king double room was wonderfully bright and airy, and although looking out onto the road was quiet and restful. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The a la carte breakfast was delicious with a good selection and fulsome portions. We also dined in the restaurant on one of our two nights and were very impressed with chef and proprietor Gareth's cooking (our steak and sea bass were top quality).

Very friendly atmosphere and staff were excellent. Very good breakfast with varied menu.l The room we stayed in was well decorated and clean.l Shortbread biscuits, freshly made by the Chef were wonderful.l

The only fault we had was that the beautiful bathroom didn't have a blind at the window, although the window was misty and you couldn't see out of it. All the same it would have been better to have had more privacy. When we arrived we did mention this to the Receptionist and could have changed rooms although there would have been an increase in the cost of our stay. Not too much of a problem but think it would make a difference having a blind. Everything else perfect.

We enjoyed out first stay at The Randolph. The staff were attentive and courteous and always willing to help. We found the room to be comfortable and the bathroom bigger than expected with both a large shower cubicle and separate bath. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The didn't eat in the restaurant but did have a drink of local brewed ale in the bar. We walked into Southwold in 10-15 minutes and had a lovely stroll on the sandy beach and paddle in the sea.

Nothing to complain about, it was all very good.

The cooked breakfast was excellent and good quality. The toast was nice and thick. Could have had more choice between rasberry jam or marmalade. Homemade shortbread in our room which was delicious. The room was perfectly clean but we thought could do with a bit of a spruce up and on checking out we were told that it was about to be re-decorated. Room 2 is over the kitchen so there was some noise but nothing detrimental to our stay. There is a large car park on site which is a bonus. We have plans to return and would recommend the hotel as good value for money. An ideal base for anyone like oursleves wanting to visit RSPB Minsmere.

The only thing is that room 2 is over the kitchen so there is some noise in the evening and also what we think was an extractor fan.

We liked it all. Staff all very welcoming and friendly. Room smallish but fine for us. It was perfectly decorated and en suite brilliant. Liked that there was a radiator with a valve that could be turned up or down without any hassle . Homemade shortbread and bottled water a very nice touch. The bar and restaurant were excellent. We were going to eat there for the first evening then go elsewhere but were impressed so ate there both nights. We felt very comfortable and at ease here. Thankyou Also liked the location as easy to walk into southwold and to get onto numerous footpaths and explore the area.

The only thing that could have been better for me was that I would have liked a chair in our bedroom. The room was small but it would have been nice to not have to sit on the bed all the time. I think a small bucket chair would have fitted in. There was a table and two patio chairs on the balcony but it was a bit cold to sit out there .

This was a very friendly hotel where the staff made up my room earlier than expected because I checked in early after a wedding and needed to crash. My room was Premier Inn standard in keeping with the building. Breakfast and dinner were always very tasty and beautifully presented and there was service with a smile and the right amount of chit chat and advice on the area. I could traipse in and out in my walking gear and be myself. I feel that I had a break.

Other guests walking by and letting themselves into their rooms can be a bit startling if you have drifted off to sleep. I think that some sound proofing might be needed at some point because you can hear snoring! This didn't make my stay any less restful though.

Bed comfortable. Cooked breakfast excellent Staff friendly. Good sized room Full length mirror Liked coffee bags when available. Shortbread biscuits nice.

Restricted wardrobe space (length and width - had to hang long dresses on door). Few hangars. Limited drawers. Chairs in room not that comfortable. No coffee bags first 2 days - had coffee bags last 2 days. No comfortable lounge area just standard bar. Could have had couple of comfortable settees in corner.

We were greeted upon arrival and provided with information on the hotel and breakfast times. The room was very clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed having a morning coffee/tea on the balcony. Overall, it was a very good stay and we would highly recommend it to others. The hotel is also located within walking distance of Southwold and many footpaths.

The only thing that we noticed were a few cobwebs in the corners of our room other than that the room was very clean and to a high standard.

The location was ideal with just a 25 minute walk into Southwold. A very quiet area. The newly finished patio area is excellent. Overall decoration and presentation of Hotel was also excellent. Friendly staff. Breakfasts were brilliant and the two evening meals we had were lovely. Local buses to nearby towns within easy walking distance. We were in a Fire Exit room and we initially had a problem opening the Fire Exit door but this was soon sorted out by the staff.
