The rooms were comfortable with all the amenities required including bottled water replenished daily. The breakfasts were outstanding with plenty of choice and marmite on request. The coffee was the best we have had for a very long time in a hotel.

It was a shame the Brasserie hasn't reopened. The area where it should be was used for breakfast and was very nicely decorated and furnished. The rooms did get a bit hot and the windows didn't open very wide. These are just observations as all in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and general decor was well thought through. felt relaxing. Public areas were clean and well appointed. The Sea Spice restaurant was absolutely fantastic and the food was wonderful - cooked with real knowledge and passion. Reasonable free parking available.

Disappointed with breakfast on the first day. Ordered decaf tea and a full english with fried egg but received decaf coffee and part full english (items missing) and with a boiled egg. Clearly my order had been muddled with someone else's. The server went to the kitchen to check and then brought out a fried egg on a side plate. Only a partial rectification and no explanation or apology. Shower over the bath not a problem but as an older person with mobility issues I would have appreciated a grab handle on the wall. Communication before the stay was a bit hit and miss in respect of reservations for dinner.

Clean comfortable room. It has a sort of lift. Most of the staff are lovely. Excellent breakfast.

Parking is a nightmare. The hotel itself has only five spaces and nearby public parking is more or less guaranteed to be full. Two bad experiences with staff — very brusque manner of guy on Reception after I had waited twenty minutes beside the empty desk. He had been ‘showing round’ a family who then took precedence in spite of the fact that I had booked in advance, which they had not. Then waited unattended at the bar while the only member of staff kept her back turned while tidying a shelf before disappearing behind the scenes. I had to go in search of someone prepared to sell me a drink. But as said above, these were two out of all the rest who were great.

Very good value for money The White Lion is a traditional hotel, with comfortable bedrooms and en-suites, with excellent housekeep. There are plenty of seating areas in the lounges. There is a good dining room and bar area, and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is opposite the pebble beach, and few minutes from the town centre - but is a very peaceful area. Top marks go to the excellent breakfasts.

the property is a little tired looking and could do with some updating, but this was not an issue and we really enjoyed our stay. we will be back!

Great location, friendly welcoming staff, delicious breakfast. It’s quirky with wonky floors and squeaky floorboards! Very clean and a nice touch leaving things in our room for our dog. it’s so refreshing to stay somewhere that really welcomes dogs, we were even allowed to take her down to breakfast and she was given treats by the staff! This hotel has a lovely feeling about it, we felt totally relaxed and looked after. Looking forward to returning!

Just a minor thing but we were in room 10 and the window is very draughty and the noise of the extractor fans outside were quite loud. Secondary double glazing would be good

Reception welcome was excellent . Location was super . Staff pleasant. Fortunate enough to get last place in the car park.

The Number of stairs ! We were in room 33 and there were still a number of stairs to negotiate even if you got the lift . Breakfast the first day semed somewhat random - i got a breakfast i didnt order and the pastry arrrived after the breakfast ! All sorted and was at least worth the wait .When the temperature started to rise the bedrooms started to get a bit stuffy.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good but was very surprised that it was not a buffet style breakfast which, I think, most people prefer so that they can help themselves to the quantity they require and which is the norm in all other hotels I've stayed in.

The stairs!! there were so many of them and, in some cases, quite steep - certainly not a hotel for the mobility challenged.

The hotel was wonderful. The room was clean with a really good shower, toiletries and lovely white towels. Comfy bed with good pillows. Just a little fault, we were really hot during the night despite the window being open. The very best breakfast ever, just perfect. Good menu, well cooked. Table service and Amy who took our order was lovely.

The room was hot , there was a fan. I don’t think anything could be done to improve this. Just a small problem when everything else was perfect.

Lovely old building - spacious and tasteful decor. Great location opposite the beach and ample parking. Close to town centre and good access to other areas of interest.

The exterior looked a bit shabby and in need of a fresh coat of paint but it’s probably a bit like painting the Forth Bridge especially as the building faces the sea and is open to all elements. My friend found the steep staircase and random steps between corridors a bit difficult to navigate so some additional hand rails or bannisters are needed, and she found it difficult to get in and out of the bathtub so a hand rail would have made that easier.

The friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. All staff were great. I felt ill one day and the cleaners came in the room so quietly and respectful got me water, sho clean towels and left quietly. The Indian restaurant was excellent we ate far too much but wanted to try different dishes. The lamb shank was AMAZING! Very well cooked suffolk breakfast. Looks right onto beach near to beautiful moot Hall. Excellent walks try walking along sea wall just before martello Tower.

There was some dust behind doors . Not enough drawer space good job we only came for two days. Very warm duvet for the weather. But many more positives than negatives
