Cleanliness of the room, and exceptional breakfast

The balcony, it wasn’t private on one side and we had an hour and half of an old lady talking to us from her balcony, when we just wanted to relax in private. Also the main curtain was on the wrong side of the room - it allowed the people next to us to see right in our room and from the reflection of the mirror as well. Had the curtain been fitted on the left side of the balcony door, it would have given more privacy in our room. We were not happy about that - we paid a lot more for a balcony that we couldn’t use because every time we went out, the couple next door could see us, even from their chair in the room, and kept talking to us! The balcony needs some kind of trellis up to add some privacy to both balcony’s . A small refund to compensate would be nice

Lovely breakfast and excellent staff throughout the Hotel. Great atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. I always have a pleasant stay at The Pines.

Dogs off leads. Owner allowed dog to run out of bedroom and ate my Grandsons sandwich. Should be more aware if going to have a garden room.

Love this hotel, great location, staff are exceptional, restaurant is amazing. Dogs are allowed to stay.

There is a huge bar/lounge but there is no dog friendly area within, although it would be easy to do so - there is an area ideal for this overlooking the car park and a seemingly unused room next door. It is lovely to sit in the garden in good weather but when it was wet, we had to hunt for somewhere else to go. Also, on this visit we were unlucky with the location of the room...right by the kitchen exhaust so as it was a heatwave, the room was stifling, even two fans didn't help. An air con in this room would solve the issue.

The hotel is immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful, the dining room fantastic with spotless table linen and napkins. We were warned the room would be small, but it was ok, and the bed very comfortable.

We chose to eat in the dining room every night out of convenience and the comfort of the surroundings. The food was beautifully presented but we felt the quality could have been better for the prices charged. Portioning was not generous, and the same dish of steamed vegetables arrived every night with the main course. One scoop of ice cream and one scoop of sorbet for £8 - come on. Service was excellent except for a busy night on Wed 16th (or maybe it was Thurs 17th) when there was an endless wait between courses.

Room was clean and bed comfortable. Lovely view of the sea. Nice garden at the rear of the hotel and access to the beach. Staff were mostly polite and professional - although not particularly warm or friendly. The restaurant is lovely with sea views and good food.

Room NOT soundproof and we could clearly hear the guests in the next room talking and coughing, as well as furniture being moved around on the floor below when we were trying to sleep. Toilet seat in the room was very uncomfortable - cutting into your behind for anything more than a quick pee! One of the waitresses was particularly unfriendly even though we made a point of saying hello and being friendly when we interacted with her.

Wonderful location and views. Lovely breakfasts. Efficient staff and most very friendly. Nice to have biscuits with the tea making facilities. Comfortable lounge and bar with our own table and seats through the French windows. Good service in the bar.

The bed was far too small. It should have been at least king size although the mattress good and firm. I was worried my disabled husband might fall out. The bathroom luckily was accessible with grab rails but again far too small. Thank you for the slip mat. We believe it was a bit expensive per night considering how important the bathroom and bed are in making a holiday really comfortable.

Fabulous location and our seaview room was modern and spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. Very helpful lady on reception who enabled us to switch to this room when we realised it was available.

1. A staff desk situated in the corridor outside the door of our room, where there was clearly a staff meeting going on from about 8am. Unprofessional plus it woke us up. This should be done in an office not near guests. 2. Poor shower pressure 3. Poor service in restaurant at breakfast. Hotel of this price should at least have staff deliver fresh coffee to the table not expect a guest to get it from a machine. The machine coffee was terrible. Restaurant was half empty but no one came to ask us if we wanted to order anything until after about 10 minutes, when we had given up waiting and just had the basic buffet breakfast.

Beautiful location with amazing views from the terrace and we loved the access to the beach below. Friendly staff and our room was clean and comfortable. Dog friendly too, the dog treats in our room were a lovely touch. Although dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant area, staff are happy to bring breakfast to your room if your dog can't be left. Overall, we had a lovely nights stay.

There was nothing we didn't like. It would be nice if there was an area in the bar where dogs were allowed. We were fortunate with the weather on our stay, so we were more than happy to sit out on the terrace with our dog. And, this wasn't a problem for us, but just to make others aware if they have any mobility problems, there are over a hundred steps down to the beach, it's a good workout coming back up!

This hotel met every requirement for an enjoyable stay. The breakfasts were superb with a well-led out buffet. the dinners were good and the menu changed every night and there was an interesting wine list. The staff were very attentive. The bedrooms were comfortable with adequate drawers and furniture. There was a comfortable lounge with a bar and a small garden with a view over the coast, where one could sit. The hotel is a very convenient venue for anyone who wishes to explore the Dorset coast and the beautiful Dorset countryside

Position and proximity to the beach. The views from the restaurant were lovely and lounge facilities very pleasing. Very enjoyable breakfast with a very good choice of menu.

As a solo traveller I think that it is a shame that the single rooms are very small and despite being told in booking that the room was en-suite it actually wasn't but I did have keys to a private shower room two doors along the corridor . Having made these comments , I found that the room was well equipped and was perfectly acceptable for one night and did have a sea view which I very much appreciated. All in all it didn't deter from the enjoyment of the short stay.
