The Rookery

The Rookery is in an ideal location within easy walking distance of the beach and the town of Swanage. The hosts were very welcoming and went to great length to explain everything about the hotel and the location. The rooms were comfortable and decorated to very high standards and the ensuite was well equipped although has to be described as 'cozy'. Breakfast was well organised, tasty and of a high standard.

Although car parking is mentioned in the website, if the hotel is full, the parking area does need to overflow onto the street - however a place was available for everyone who needed one.

Alan very friendly person made us feel very welcome.Room was of comfort size, bed comfortable, plenty of tea/coffee/ water available and replenished, bathroom good size, clean shower excellent loved the 2 different shower heads. Breakfast was excellent and like how you chose the night before and it was all cooked fresh . Location was good about 10 minute walk along seafront to the town. We took a bus to Bournemouth it was great through Studland Bay, Sandbanks on the ferry onto Bournemouth and returned all for £4 each great way to travel. Parking- asked for parking had to park across owners car first night then had space next day when someone else left, but all good. We will return!

There wasn’t anything to dislike all very good, friendly. Plenty of choice.

Such a friendly welcome from Alan and Charlene who explained everything brilliantly and made us feel very welcome. We loved our room and its facilities. Breakfast each morning was amazing too and with such a great choice, thank you. We didn’t make use of the lounge /bar area but thought it was such a nice touch too. The Rookery has been beautifully furnished and its location is perfect for the town and especially for North Beach (which is lot quieter than the main beach further down, but don’t tell anyone!!) Thank you for a great 3 night stay.

It was more than our expectations, Everything was perfect, the room was bigger than the picture and the decoration was so beautiful ❤️ It was very immaculate! The picture doesn't do justice, the place is much more pretty. The owner Alan is very friendly and very dedicated to make everyone happy and satisfied. I'm very difficult to satisfy so he is the best, 😉 All the time he was very happy and made us feel like we're were truly on holiday. The breakfast it was fresh and delicious 😋 hand made Lovely time here :) 100/100

Friendly and jovial host, Alan. Good choice at breakfast including cereals, fruit, juice, croissants, crumpets, and cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, egg etc nicely done without too much fat or oil. Modern room with ensuite, comfy double bed, sun shining in all day till late evening. Only a 5 to 10 min walk to sandy beach and town for shops, cafes, restaurants.

These were actually no problem for us, but just pointing out as could be negatives for some: Needed to tick a menu list of what we wanted the evening before and breakfast from 8.30 to 9.15, perhaps restrictive if you want an early start. TV high up and a bit small (room 5). Car parking sometimes a bit tight and sloping sideways Hotel is on short road, but quite steep.

Comfortable stay at the Rookery. The location is great for visiting Swanage and the surrounding area and also walking on the coastal path. If you're traveling by public transport, a bus stop for the No. 50 service to Bournemouth via Studland is very close by. Owners were very welcoming and friendly and my room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is at the opposite end of the bay from the town centre so most of the shops, restaurants, bars etc are a 10-15 minute walk away. The location on a side street does mean that the B&B is nice and quiet in the evening.

A really minor suggestion, but it would be great to have some coat hooks in the room and bathroom to hang up towels, coats, bath robes etc.

We loved everything about the Rookery and our stay. The owners and staff were all so lovely and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, the food here was absolutely gorgeous, perfectly cooked and perfectly presented, I will personally be missing the black pudding more than anything :) the rooms are lovely and spotless giving us a very good nights sleep every night. If you are thinking about staying in Swanage I would fully recommend to choose the rookery as a place to stay as it was by far the best B&B we have had the pleasure to stay in . everything was perfect, their were no faults whatsoever.

Full English breakfast selection with opportunity to select for our preferences, catered well for a vegetarian. Parking was invaluable at this time of year. Rooms spacious, well decorated, clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities topped up daily. Able to access the room through the day with a small lounge area in bar area on ground floor.

We stayed in a hot period and windows stayed open, some additional ventilation would have been welcomed (but we didn't ask!).

The location was beautiful. Parking was a bit dodgy but we did manage to park our car in the same road. The breakfast was amazing, the couple who owned it were brilliant & very hospitable. The only down side was the duvet cover it wasn’t very big.

There was nothing to dislike about this guest house. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was lovely and well finished. The breakfast room had a lovely nautical feel about it. Plus the room opposite had a bar.

Everything about The Rookery demonstrates a genuine love from Alan and Charlene for what they are doing and an energetic attention to quality and detail. The focus is always on meeting guests' wishes. Nothing is too much effort - whether meeting changing food requirements, giving reliable recommendations on local attractions and restaurants, providing very convenient parking facilities or soliciting customer feedback. Suffice to say, the food, accommodation, facilities and overall welcome are all outstanding. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay but in the heart of Swanage and hundred yards or so from the beach, look no further. You've just found it ! Highly recommended !
