I loved my stay here though it was only for one night, check in was easy even though I didn’t arrive until 19.00, I was offered the opportunity to dine in the restaurant and it was carvery night, the food was plentiful and varied, I opted for the gammon which was delicious. My room was a standard double with en-suite, it overlooked the garden at the side and was very quiet. The bed was comfortable, linen was crisp and clean. Nice hospitality tray. The TV was great easy to work even for me who doesn’t watch much tv and certainly not on a modern one like this one. Bathroom was great, lovely fluffy towels and nice toiletries. I was intrigued to see there is a library in the hotel, on this occasion I didn’t have time to check it out having arrived late and leaving early the next day. Breakfast was excellent, again plenty of choice, the cooked breakfast was very high quality, being fussy about sausages I can honestly say these were very good indeed. The location is excellent, not far from all amenities and ideal for onward travel being situated near rail and bus connections. I understand there are no on site parking facilities but this wasn’t relevant to me as I was travelling onwards by train, breakfast is available anytime from 06.30 onwards. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they couldn’t have been more helpful, efficient or cheerful.

There was nothing I disliked.

Central location with parking on street with numerous plot holes and subject to restrictions but plenty behind. Friendly helpful staff. Unbelievable meals better than anywhere else. Rooms are comfy.

Rooms need a refresh and WiFi was slow. Noise from main road by roads and was plagued by late night boy racers. Stayed out of season, so low occupancy meant bar shut at 10pm as did most other places nearby.

Excellent location in town and just a short walk from the train station. The hotel retains a lot of character features. The room was small but that is what we booked so no complaints, plenty of storage. Breakfast had plenty of options but the tea was in flasks and was not up to scratch.

The main thing that let the hotel down was the bar, it was more like a cafe. Even at 10pm on a Saturday night, the sauces and condiments were still on the table, it had no pub feel or welcoming feel.

The staff were welcoming, helpful and understanding. The room was great for the price and anytime, I needed an ironing board near midnight and got it with no hassle from the staff and I was late for breakfast and the kitchen staff Willie & Anna were both very friendly and were happy to get me some food and coffee. The receptionist gave me their charger for a few hours out of their own kindness for me headphones and the location was excellent for getting anywhere you would need to around Thurso. Would recommend to anyone.

Firstly, as the hotel wasn't busy, we'd both been upgraded to a double room. The rooms were well appointed, clean and fresh, with lovely bath sheets and cosy.

I'm intolerant to mushrooms and lactose, which made choosing a meal quite limited (I tend to go for vegan options to avoid lactose, and it's generally easy to ask for no mushrooms in the dish being prepared). Unfortunately, in the choices available, there were lots with cheese, or cream sauces, and no indication if there was a vegan option. As it turned out, there was vegan cheese for the burger I had, but that wasn't mentioned in the menu.

We upgraded room as other was small. Superior room, amazing fab roll-top bath huge bed. Breakfast was to order but we left early and not that hungry. We were there late so didn't get to rate other facilities.

First room small double with basicly a large single duvet on bed that would not cover 2 hence change of room. I should have done before going at great price but only £20 to change and SO worth it. Staff issue at breakfast and checking out. Poor guy on his own.

It was very clean and tidy. The room was lovely and warm. Enjoyed the tea and coffee facilities.

I liked the property. Did not like the “boy racers” going up and down the street. Believe this is a problem lots of holiday guests complain about in other hotels. (Know this as visiting a friend from Thurso and they said it had been in the local papers the complaints) Perhaps the local hoteliers could get together and approach the local Police.

Absolutely outstanding! My room was gorgeous with a little alcove seating area by the windows overlooking the town, and it was warm despite the -7 temperature outside. Abigail the Receptionist was incredible, so friendly and organised, and the newish barmaid/waitress in the David Attenborough Christmas jumper was an absolute joy, recommending drinks and making us welcome. In fact, all the staff were great, the venue is beautiful, it was quiet and there's a lovely restaurant on the premises. 10/10!

Only downside is the shower pressure was low. Enough to wash your hair but it took a while! Toiletries were nice though.

the room was a lot larger than expected and was really clean and comfy. The bath was deep, perfect for a nice soak after a long day of driving. The room had a kettle with tea/ coffees and biscuits provided. The bed was large and comfy with a heavy thick quilt to keep you warm. The staff were really friendly and polite. We had the breakfast included and it was delicious, a buffet style of hot foods bacon, sausage, eggs everything for a full English, it also had a cereal bar and a pastry section with hot drinks and a verity of fresh juices AMAZING!!

The only thing was the room was quite cold due to the window being open when we arrived, we couldn’t get the radiators to work but once your snuggled under the big duvet it’s fine

Comfortable spacious room, clean & well appointed. Friendly & always helpful staff, good filling breakfast with plenty of options. Central location for beach, shops & train station.

Not really didn't like, but had issue with sink in bathroom, cold tap wouldn't work. Reported it to front desk & it was repaired the next day. Another slight issue is lack of socket outlets in useable locations, not great.
