Very friendly & polite staff, fantastic chef, food excellent, great views out over the dock, Complementary Port in the room, just the ticket Breakfast, my wife had the full Scottish and said it’s the best breakfast she’s had, so much so the Chef helped us out with some haggis, Top tip, book ahead for evening meal and you get priority seating, I’ll mention the staff again as they made our stay

Nothing to note, Watch out which way you turn the shower on though, I went to turn off and turned it hot, big mistake as hot is scolding hot, thankfully only for a second, enough to notice though

We were on a tour of my Bonnie Scotland this week, and needed a place to stay as we'd an early jump to Orkney the following morning. Given the cost of accommodation elsewhere that week, we didn't expect much. Well, we were wrong. For the money, this little hotel provided us, with a great dinner. A clean comfortable, quiet room. (Even although there is a busy pub below some of the rooms). The surprise was a courtesy mini-decanter of Port waiting for us. Never had this before and it was lovely!! Marries nicely to the nautical feel of the entire hotel and village of Scrabster. The staff could NOT have been more helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

We got the impression that this hotel and restaurant is in the middle of an improvement program as it is part of a bigger and well respected chain. So if you are expecting the Ritz, rethink. That said there is nothing about this hotel that we didn't like, and were delighted with the staff, food and service.

Alan United Kingdom 8.0 Enjoyed my stay here and I am 68 to put my views into context. Very nice and helpful reception when we arrived. Room was of a good size and clean. Food at the Upper Deck was very good in nice surroundings with views over the harbour. Popeyes, the bar served good beer, had music and a pool table. It did get rather rowdy in the evenings, it was the bank holiday weekend however, young adults would likely love it as it was friendly as well as lively. Handy location for the ferry to the Orkneys, which in itself is a nice excursion.

The building is old and the floors are squeaky. We were on the middle floor and was thankful a honeymoon couple was not in residence above us! My advice would be a top floor room with an outlook over the harbour, but as an overnighter or two it's no dealbreaker.

Was greeted warmly and after mounting the rickety spiral staircase I was pleasantly surprised to find a light and quite large room, overlooking the harbour. The bathroom was showing it's age but was spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant along with other guests who were catching the early ferry to Orkney. Had a very nice cooked breakfast which accommodated our need to be away to ferry. Lovely staff Pleasantly surprised by a small bottle of quite nice port for a night cap.

The bathrooms are due a makeover

A large room with ensuite (wash basin in the bedroom though) a view overlooking the harbour, the cheery & friendly staff only too pleased to help in any way lead to a relaxing stay. Plenty of tea & coffee with biscuits & of course the tipple on arrival. Clean room with a comfortable bed, great nights' sleep apart from the early morning lorry off the ferry but to be expected. The meals are excellent, one of the best restaurants for quality of fresh food we've had the pleasure to dine in both for breakfast & evening meals. The good weather was a bonus! Second time of stopping & we're sure there'll be a third. Thank you Ferry Inn staff for a wonderful stay.

We've stayed at the Ferry Inn a number of times. It's such a perfect location for catching the ferry in the morning. Every staff person we've met (hotel/restaurant even Rosie the awesome bartender) has been super friendly and fun to talk to, check in is easy, parking is plentiful, rooms are comfortable and clean, the restaurant is conveniently right there. Great view from our room (we don't mind a few stairs; you might) and even a complementary night cap. Easy and restful.

Excellent location for the morning ferry to Orkney. The early breakfast is fine for having breakfast before checking in at the ferry terminal. The hotel location is also excellent on the return journey from Orkney if on the afternoon sailing. The selection of food , quality and service were perfect for a small friendly hotel. Will stop there again if visiting Orkney.

nothing really except possibly a more comfortable chair to sit in while watching evening TV.

What I liked most was the staff – they were incredibly friendly – like a family, and so for a solo traveler that is a very welcoming feeling. The food was excellent and the vibe in the pub was great. My accommodations just could've been a little bit nicer, but in the end, it's two thumbs up from me!

I booked at the last minute and was in an efficiency apartment on the first floor, which was good because I had surfboards, but it could be updated slightly :-)

The Ferry Inn is located at the harbour in Scrabster - perfect for catching the early-morning ferry to Stromness the next day. Our room was at the front of the Inn over-looking the harbour, and was spacious with a high ceiling, being very comfortable with good facilities. Overnight car parking was available on the road in front of the hotel. The Upper Deck restaurant next door made for a very easy evening meal. The hotel breakfast times (taken in the Upper Deck) are such that breakfast can be eaten without a rush and then the early morning ferry can be boarded. The Ferry Inn at Scrabster has to be the obvious choice for a night-stop when taking the early morning ferry to Stromness in the Orkneys

We were well satisfied with the Ferry Inn - no adverse comments to make
