We stayed on Tuesday 6th Feb for one night wished it could have been for longer ,it was amazing we were upgraded to the four poster room ,the decor was outstanding, the bed was Huge and very comfortable as were the pillows, tea coffee and hot chocolate provided plus bottled water biscuits and sweets , the bathroom was also excellent with beautiful fluffy towels and face clothes plus lovely toiletries, the staff were very helpful and friendly ,our only disappointment was breakfast ie lack of variety of breads ,food wasn't very hot ,grilled tomato hardly cooked at all and fried egg over cooked , the grounds, garden ect were beautifully maintained and the walk down to the lake not to be missed , we would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends ,and will without doubt visit again .many thanks .

Beautiful building in a fantastic location.

1. Limited views of the lake. 2. Dogs allowed in eating areas. For us this is a hygiene problem. Other people may well love their dogs, but we don’t have to and cannot see any reason why dogs should be brought into eating areas (such as the breakfast room). 3. An automatic addition of service charges without asking us. This is little more than an extra tariff and as such should be included in the room rate quoted at the time of booking.

I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel yesterday, and overall, it was a memorable experience. The hotel's picturesque surroundings provided a stunning backdrop for our stay, making it a serene and enjoyable family retreat. One of the highlights of our stay was the comfort of the beds and the quality of the bedding. It allow every member of our family had a restful night's sleep. Our boys were also pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful amenities provided for them. The small teddy bears left in the room were an instant hit with the kids, and they appreciated the gesture immensely. The selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate available was a warm and comforting touch, especially on a cooler rainy evenings.

it's worth noting that the hotel lacked an elevator. This meant that we had to carry our luggage up the stairs, which was a bit inconvenient, especially when traveling with a family and multiple bags. The breakfast sausage is a bit too salty, but the service is good and very welcoming!

Home from the exterior was lovely. Grounds were well-maintained. Breakfast was fairly good and the waitstaff at breakfast were attentive and pleasant.

Rooms and common areas were showing signs of wear. Furniture in our room, room 11 were scratched, chairs were stained. Walls within the hotel showed signs of chipping paint. Some staff were attentive but others showed a lack of care/cleanliness. One waitress left two used glasses for over 15 minutes at a table. She then cleared the glasses and left ketchup at the table and a chip on the floor. Water was noticed dripping from the ceiling that the waitstaff attributed to someone taking a shower upstairs. Not to worry!?!?!

We love the location of this Hotel. The rooms are excellent. Breakfast good. The grounds are beautiful. We have visited many times before.

Very disappointed with the Evening Meal Menu in the Restaurant. It had nothing suitable for my husband so we settled for a bar meal which was good on the first night. Unfortunately on the 2nd night with not much choice we asked for a sandwich or toastie, they stated they had "No Bread". Having had a couple of glasses of wine in lovely surroundings we were unable to drive out somewhere to eat and were left with a dish of chips which was their only alternative. We did ask if we could have the Risotto from the Restaurant Menu and eat it in the bar but they refused - not very impressed.

The staff were very lovely and I got a free room upgrade! Even when I had checked out they let me stay in the lounge while I waited to go to the event I came up for and they offered me tea/coffee. I had a nice view and the beds weren't too soft which I always find is a problem in other hotels. It's also very close to bus stops which is handy.

The shower drained a bit slowly than what I was used to so I checked the drain and saw that hair (from the previous occupant I assume) was partially blocking it. Also, I wasn't sure where it was coming from but walking up to the hotel there was a distinct foul smell but you can't smell it once you're inside.

The food was superlative. We had excellent breakfasts and dinners on both days, served by helpful and efficent dining room staff. Of course, the location on the edge of Windermere was ideal.

The hotel evidently undergoes heavy use by people of all ages. As a result, it does not show that extra sparkle of a place that is looked after by the most diligent of staff. An example is the newel post on the stairs to our landing, more than slightly grubby. It was good to see families with little children in the hotel, though youngsters just learning to use their voices did get a little much at dinner.

The location in our opinion is absolutely perfect and the grounds are stunning, even in autumn. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is equipped with everything you need and the staff cannot do enough for you. We had the luxury of staying whilst quiet so it felt almost as if we had the house to ourselves. We staying in a lake view room, room two. We sat in the back room with an open fire for most of the evening after a short night walk around the garden. The night sky is fantastic. It's also worth getting up a little earlier to walk down to the water to watch the sunrise. The water was so still and the sky was beautiful. We hoped to see the baby deer but better luck next time, as we will definitely be back for another stay. This place is dog friendly so we will return with our bichon frise. We would also like to add that Fernando really added to the vibe of this place . A great guy, funny and attentive, he definitely added to our cragwood country house birthday stay. Thank you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a place; what a location! Spent 4 days at Cragwood and couldn’t be happier with the choice. With the great weather, we spent many hours on the patio with friends gazing out at Lake Windermere. Fab! Our clean and comfy room was well equipped with all the amenities- tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries, etc. The quiet location meant a great sleep as well. The bus service is close to the property and we used it one day and happy we did! Parking a car can be a nightmare in the district as we found out . At the time of our stay, the facility was hosting 2 weddings and the servers were kept hopping, but the one meal we had in was a delight! Best fish and chips I had my entire, lengthy stay in the UK!
