The location was excellent, close to the station and a short walk away from the city centre.

The very long queues at check in time, despite this being a weekday and not a weekend. Maybe the hotel could be a bit more flexible with check in time. I requested a slightly earlier check but this could not be given, no problem, but on arriving at the hotel an hour earlier than check in time we were told to come back after 3pm( check in time was 3pm) as it would be too busy at 3. We were not happy about this. I travel a lot and have never seen such queues of people waiting to check into a hotel anywhere in the world. Housekeeping had not filled up tea and coffee etc in the room so we had to request this and wait some time.

We upgraded our room and that was the best decision ever - we had a view, breakfast was included and the price went up only slightly. The hotel is located very close to the train station and literally in the city center. The room was fantastic and modern, there was bottled water, coffee, tea, biscuits, towels, bathrobes and slippers. Everything we needed was there and super comfortable! The breakfast offering was very generous with a continental buffet and breakfast menu, both included in the price. The fresh breakfast was cooked fast and was delicious. We also had breakfast in bed one day and it was super smooth, they also accepted our additional requests for decaf lattes. We had an amazing experience at the SPA and enjoyed a package including two SPA treatments, complimentary lunch, chocolates and bubbly. Can't wait to go back!

Only one very minor thing, which may be due to my previous experience in the hospitality sector. There were several spots in the bathroom where black mold was visible, which is typical for showers and baths, but I would have expected this to be cleaned in such a modern and expensive hotel.

Location, location, location, everything was walkable, private parking very convenient, good view from the room, loved the Nespresso machine. Bedrooms seemed very quite & certainly 5th floor seemed quite exclusive. Bar staff make great cocktails.

No "wet" spa facilities, pool/sauna etc would have been nice, also Spa & roof closed at the begining of the week, this isn't obvious when Booking on Booking.com. Breakfast at £20 a head I thought was expensive, consequently we ate elsewhere & can't comment on food otherwise. Not sure the upgrade was worth the extra, but didn't see the standard rooms as a comparison. Ensuite/bathroom lighting was quite poor & the vanity light didn't work.

Excellent location for the town and attractions. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was really good, with a good choice. Great idea to ask if housekeeping was required as part of their eco policy, we said no as only stayed 2 nights, for this we were allowed a free drink in the bar. Overall, really, good value for money.

It was too dark in the room, found it difficult to get ready/do make up etc. I felt the bed and pillows were too soft and were uncomfortable, my personal opinion

The location is great, the hotel is stunning and we enjoyed our stay!

What I really didn’t like was that I was only informed that the spa was closed on Monday and Tuesday once I had booked for Sunday and Monday night. So we arrived at the hotel just after check in time in the hopes of using the spa on Sunday as it would be closed for the rest of our stay to be told it was fully booked and we would have to have a treatment or package booked to use the spa facilities. The main reason we booked the hotel was for the spa facilities as we wanted a relaxing girls trip so we were very disappointed with this.Apart from the initial disappointment, we really enjoyed our stay

The location was excellent. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean room and comfortable bed. Rooftop restaurant was lovely, as was the main restaurant. Good selection at breakfast, although not too much choice if you had any allergy/intolerance. I.e.lots of hotels now do gluten-free sauages as standard & unable to have scrambled egg due to milk in mix but didn't offer with real egg. Just small things that can be a bit faffy & makes all the difference when you find it's offered.

The dressing table mirror light didn't work (reported to reception but not repaired), and neither it nor the stool were height adjustable, it meant you had to slouch down to use it. Because of the 'mood lighting' it was tricky to use other mirrors for make up as in shadow. Maybe a bit more Free From for Full English if possible.

It was a great location just over lendal bridge from York minster, an NCP car park can be found in same street and the hotel provide a discount of nearly a third off! The room was impressive in its looks and it’s comforts.. even the TV was great! Bath and shower products were provided and it was all isle of arran products which is very luxurious. The sky bar was gorgeous and had its own dedicated staff just as helpful as the hotels dedicated staff! There was also a Starbucks on the ground floor which was very helpful the morning of departure. We had cocktails in the chez mal bar which were some of the tastiest cocktails we’d ever had too!

There was nothing to fault about my stay.

(1) The staff were lovely. (2) The breakfast was delicious and the breakfast were outstanding. (3) The shower was excellent. (4) The location in city centre was very good.

(1) The air conditioning was not sufficiently controllable so our room was hot and stuffy, despite staff trying their best to sort it out for us. We prefer air con we can control fully ourselves and/or an opening window. (2) The car parking was very difficult: we had to walk between the hotel and the car park a couple of blocks away and in walking between the two buildings with all our bags, we lost an expensive sweater. Staff mentioned that we could load/unload temporarily at the Starbucks entance but we couldn't find it. (3) When we tried to ring room service there was no answer so we gave up.

Great location. Both for central York and for the NCP car park! For which there was a small discount - thank you Malmaison. Our room - beds, shower etc was fabulous and extravagantly large. Which we loved. We only wished we could have stayed longer and that we’d had more space to consume the yummy, top notch breakfast on offer.

It’s hard to rate the front desk staff with any honesty. Largely because we found it tricky to engage with them. This was the result of finding only one staff member on the front desk each time we passed by. They understandably appeared rather flustered and stressed - dealing simultaneously with phone enquiries and queues of guests.
