Galt House Hotel, A Trademark Collection Hotel

I had stayed at the Galt House Hotel almost 20 years ago, I was in town for a church conference. I remembered how regal and impressive the hotel was and I wanted my family to experience it. And they did we had a wonderful time in the city and visiting family in IN.

The front desk concierge was not friendly at all. He didn't seem as though he wanted to check me in; a African American female. He over stated the daily parking rate as if I wasn't aware of the expenses I would incur while at the hotel for the weekend. I expected better. Overall my stay was pleasant and my family enjoyed themselves. I would definitely stay again despite the cold shoulder from the front desk. Our room was very nice and clean. On our next visit I would prefer a view of the river front. The weather was perfect for our planned outdoors events and sightseeing, there was rain earlier in the week. I loved the variety the hotel offered for eating and the gift shop items were not overly priced.

Room was nice and big, the shower was lovely, the location was perfect and walking distance to a lot different things, the bed was soft and comfy! Loved that the pool overlooked the river! Staff were really friendly, food at the hotel was amazing!

The only thing: There was a wet spot at the end of our bed on the floor, that never dried during the duration of our stay. Unsure what it was from, but it wasn't too big of a deal to us. We kept forgetting about it. Also, there wasn't the greatest directions on where to park for the hotel, so we just parked in a parking garage, and we got lucky that it was attached to the hotel! Other than that, everything was great!

The location can't be beat! We had a stunning view of the Ohio River from our room and there were so many great options to dine in the building or explore within walking distance. The pool is gorgeous, facilities and rooms are very clean, the staff are friendly and attentive. It was a great value!

My ONLY and main gripe is that the pool hours suck, especially for summer hours. We checked in at 6 pm and were very disappointed to learn that the pool was already closed at 6 pm, it reopened at 2 pm the next day, which is already past the check-out time. We chose the hotel for the pool and weren't able to use it, so that was a bummer.

The location was great. Everything we needed (KICC, Louisville slugger, Art Eatables, etc) was within a 10 minute walking distance. The view from west tower, overlooking park and river was spectacular. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The shops, the pool, plenty of parking ($30/day), the restaurants, being pet friendly… it was exactly the right place for us to stay.

There were only two things that weren’t completely happy with. The ac unit in our room was not the greatest. It wasn’t bad enough to complain about but it wasn’t what I would normally expect. Green space was a little hard to come by, which we sort of expected in that area, but it is a pet friendly hotel.

Walker's Exchange lunches and dinners were tasty. The mushroom dish was unusual and flavorful. Fried green tomatoes --the best I've tasted seasoned with just enough spice and a little heat and lightly breaded. The waitress, Jaerti, was excellent. Front desk attendants were professional and expedient. (As with all hotel staff you get what you put out.) Clean and massive rooms as was the hotel. I easily put in 5000 steps walking from the East tower to the meeting rooms in the West Tower. If you get a room facing west in the West Tower, you'll have beautiful views of the Ohio River and landscape.

Most hotels have nice cushioned pillows usual too large for petite people. No exception here. The air conditioner was loud, not silent or quieter than some other hotels. The AC kept going on and off blowing right onto our faces. While temp cold be adjustable, once the room temp was reached, the AC clicked on and off frequently throughout the night. That was annoying and made for a restless sleep. Turning it off, the room would become too warm.

Great stay. No complaints! Loved the double bedroom we stayed in. Clean, beds were comfortable. We stayed for 1 Night unfortunately we did not have time to use other amenities. Ate breakfast at one of the restaurants on site: Buffet was surprisingly good. (However, Separate Cost-Not complimentary) Please note: If parking on site of hotel, there is a parking fee.

Parking Fee and Non-Complimentary Breakfast. Seems to be more popular these days. But for the price of 1 Night I think breakfast with a ticket pass or food cost limit would be nice for the restaurants on site.

Enjoyed the view of my room and that the access to the upper floors needed a keycard. The bathrooms were very nice and the water pressure of the shower was perfect. I also like how they have refillable shampoo and things instead of the huge waste of individual plastic throw away bottles. Enjoyed how they also had a placard that said to reuse towels in order to save water.

I didn't like how roomservice came by 2 times in the morning semi close to each other when it wasn't time for checkout (left 30 minutes before checkout time). The only other complaint I had was it was a bit unclear how to cross over to the other wing of the hotel, considering there were two wings.

The Location Was Very Convenient if you are Attending and Event at the KFC Yum Center. our Room had an Incredible Water View that made the trip just feel so relaxing and nice even though it was super cold I felt like I was staying on the beach also the staff was very accommodating and sweet to help correct the 1 problem I had while I was there

We had to be Checked out by 11 so we Made Reservations for 10:30 for breakfast the website said they done breakfast till 11 and started lunch at 11 when arriving to the restaurant location we were told they were closed and when showing them the email with our reservation they told us they didn’t have any food very disappointing however the front desk did help me and comp my parking just as a “I’m sorry” and they were very apologetic which isn’t something you find often

We had a great stay. The room was very nice and clean. The staff helpful. Made our short stay very nice and will stay again. We were on the 11th floor and heard no one else during our stay, which made it even better. Nice and quite for a great night's sleep.

The only thing that was uncomfortable were the hallways were so hot and waiting for the elevators was not good. I am not sure if the ac was just not working or the hotel does not run ac in the hallways or at the elevators. It was so hot I felt I was going to passout.

beautiful, comfortable, quiet room with a lovely view of the Ohio River, plush bed and pillows, helpful staff and incredible onsite restaurants - bourbon is spectacular, if you enjoy a finger or two of fine bourbon. Highly recommend for families & romantic getaways. Louisville Slugger nearby for classic baseball bats & several distilleries to tour. Hotel has a covered walkway to KFC Yum! center (if you're big on KFC). Dined at Swizzle & LOVED the food & service. Just a lovely hotel!
