Auld Sweet Olive Bed and Breakfast

Auld Sweet Olive Bed and Breakfast is situated a little way from the 'main' city - about a 10 min cab/uber ride, but you can walk in quite easily. Neighbourhood is quiet and traditional - there are bars, shops and restaurants nearby. And a climbing gym just around the corner - for me, a real bonus! The building itself is very low key and beautifully decorated/presented. Overall, this place gives off an air of relaxation - it has chilled out vibe. Owners were very approachable and helpful. Breakfast was had just the right amount of choice - and plenty of it; great coffee! Everyone sat around one table. Seemed to attract like-minded guests - everyone chatting before getting on with their day. Bedroom was very comfortable - large bed, large bathroom, clean and tidy. Garden and porch offered nice spots to chill out in.

A beautiful home decorated to a high standard with lots of interesting features and dining area lounge to relax and read a book. Beautiful veranda out front to sit and have a cuppa. A quiet area and 20 minute walk to the French Quarter. Katie is a great host with lots of stories of the area and places to visit. Also does an amazing breakfast endless pastries and bacon and eggs and beverages just delightful. Highly recommend this wonderful home and Katie's hospitality.

We loved everything about Auld Sweet Olive! We've been to NOLA before but this was the most wonderful place we have ever stayed. Our room was lovely (16-18 foot ceilings!) and comfy. Breakfast was done family style and we really enjoyed meeting the other guests and talking to our host Kate who always had great suggestions for places to visit and dine.

I can't think of anything we didn't like except that we should've stayed longer

what a brilliant place! From the moment we arrived it was like being welcomed into a friend’s really cool house; beautiful arty decor, all super clean and comfortable with great breakfast, and lovely communal spaces. And all in such a cool, walkable neighbourhood, and Kate was the dream host, with spot-on tips for local places to check out. Couldn’t have asked for a better first taste of New Orleans, really hope to return someday!

Kate, the innkeeper, could not have been more pleasant and helpful. When all the street parking spaces around her B&B were suddenly taken, we had to park farther away. A little later, the spot directly in front of her place became available. She alerted us, then stood in that space to block others from trying to take the space. There was a nearby festival going on, so she really did have to physically hold the spot. She went above and beyond!

our stay here was wonderful. Kate and staff were truly welcoming and very informative about the area. everyone we met was warm and friendly. the property is beautiful from the plants and porch,patios to the antique furnishings, cultural decor and artist painted walls. the place has a cozy, bohemian vibe and relaxing feel. breakfast was scrumptious, homemade casseroles, baked goods and fresh fruits.

we found the bed too soft for our own personal taste, the pillows were comfortable and towels were soft. the soaps were a nice touch and shower was fun.

Lovely and charming! We traveled with another couple (family from France) and it was so tranquil. Comfortable rooms and we enjoyed breakfast as well as relaxing in the pool at night. Beautiful attention to details…music playing, robes by the pool, little amenities. Kate and team…amazing!

The whole stay at the Auld olive was very enjoyable, our host, Kate, went out of her way to make our stay unforgettable. If there are vacancies for here in March 2024 we will return.

There are no downsides to our stay. The whole experience was most enjoyable. we recommend the Auld olive to anyone wanting a stress free stay.

Beautiful house, lots of artwork on the walls. Games and books available in the living room. Outside sitting areas. Close to Bourbon Street. We purchased senior bus/trolley/ferry passes, $.80 each! $1.60 for two! (Daily). Breakfast was wonderful! Some snacks were also in the dining room when we arrived. The room was on the small side, but the king bed was very comfortable. Nice soap! Our AC worked great. (Olive Room)

The room key was very sticky, almost couldn't open the doors.

Jessica is maybe the best innkeeper we have experienced in our travels. She was super responsive, very friendly and a pleasure to visit with. Plus she even kept a white board with great things to do coming up that day so you got an inside scoop on how to enjoy the neighborhood and the city. The facilities themselves are very nice and kept spotless. Nice common areas (living room, large outside yard, broad front porch with chairs). Breakfast, while buffet style, was more than ample and Jessica was very gracious about accommodating our vegan preferences. Our room (Palmeto) was small and quaint. Will mention for those who might have mobility issues that there is a tub with hand shower. While this did not cause us to skip a beat, it might be something for others to take into account. Other rooms may have different bathing facilities. There are no TVs in the Sweet Olive... but honestly... why on earth would you choose TV when there is so much to do within walking distance? Speaking of which... the neighborhood that the Sweet Olive calls home is sweet, qwirky in some ways and historic. We were there during clean up from Ida, but short of that, the neighborhood was fun to walk around. The French Quarter is about 15 minute walk, so long as you take the right route (which we did not once). While it was a short walk to most of the action, it was nice to be in a quiet neighborhood. Frenchmen Street is the place to go for a more authentic Jazz experience and that is only a 10 minute walk. All in all, I'd say don't hesitate to stay at the Sweet Olive. I enjoyed the experience very much.

I can't think of any negatives. Be sure check that the bathing facilities for your room are what you prefer (there are more than one option). Don't hesitate to book here!
