Hampton Inn Albany-Western Ave/University Area, NY

Immaculately clean rooms and bathrooms!!! Availability of quality amenities: Pool, gym, business center, free parking/wifi. Liked that breakfast was included & warm cookies in the afternoon. Water bottles hilton honors members at check in were a nice touch. Staff: Kudos to Craig for an efficient check in and follow up with a text to ask if we needed anything to make our stay perfect.. Kudos to Diana for her kind care during breakfast!

While loved that breakfast was included with a good variety of options especially hot items, for the price point would have liked a bit better quality food available. Also didn’t like we could hear folks in the next room and late at night could hear someone knocking on a door down the hall repeatedly.

I have stayed at this Hotel 3 different times, each time around 1 week, they only were beat at the breakfast set up by a hotel in Prague. though here at Western Ave. Breakfast very varied selection daily, more than what you would think of, good quality, selection, and great staff.

I checked in around 9pm on Sept. 7. the person at the desk was the same as at my last visit, a young man, 30ish. not at all welcoming or friendly, very short with his commands about what he needs, interrupted by talking to a maintenance person, as little as possible information to me, had to ask. Not at all a person to be representing the establishment.

The breakfast was well rounded with a variety of choices. The coffee was much better than expected. And the dining area was bright with natural light and had a variety of seating options that suited our large family gathering. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The moment you walk into the reception area or pass someone in the hallway, they make eye contact and greet you.

This is a minor detail but... the scrambled eggs were chopped up into granules. It was unappealing. They tasted alright but I don't think it is necessary to pulverize them like that.

Our room (a double-queen) was very comfortable. The heating/AC unit worked well and was quiet. TV reception was good as well as the mattress and pillows. There appeared to be a good variety of both hot and cold breakfast items. (But since I am an extremely picky eater, I brought my own food.) Staff at downstairs desk were very welcoming and efficient. I was happily surprised to receive a text as soon as we checked in, asking if everything was okay with our room.

The bed's comforter (in a duvet) was extremely weighty, which I found rather uncomfortable. One of the room's lamps was not working, but I was able to advise staff by responding to their text message and told them they could check on it after we left the following morning.

very comfortable, spacious room. allows delivery to room (as a solo business traveler, this makes life easier) property is well kept. would definitely stay here again :)

when i checked in, housekeeping was still in the hallway cleaning the room across from mine. with the tv on, i could still hear them loudly talking, laughing, cursing, and complaining about their job. other than that, it was quiet.

The gentleman at the front desk, Keith, greeted us with a much needed levity after a very long drive. He got us checked in and answered our questions about the area and recommendations for dining. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The pool was a great activity that evening. Our son is autistic had a loud meltdown in the morning before we went down to breakfast. (We were staying because he had a medical procedure and he was very nervous.) I stopped at the front desk to explain in case there were any complaints and to apologize. The lady told me not to worry about it but thanked me for letting her know. The breakfast was above what I expected. The lady serving it was cheerful, interacted with the guests asking how everything was and genuinely took time to not only bustle around and keep the food filled but make sure every guest was greeted and felt at home.

Breakfast was good. Had a nice selection for all ages. One thing would be possibly to have more fresh fruit choices but really was a nice selection.

The bathroom sink was cracked. The counter in the bathroom met up with the tub. If you were to have children or an older person in the room it would be tight to help them.

A mistake (mine or Booking.com) was made. The mistake came in the form of booking me for TWO rooms! It was my wife and me. I did NOT need a second room. I was instructed by clerk in hotel to contact Booking.com, report the mistake and have Booking contact the hotel. That was accomplished on Booking's end. Booking made necessary correction. Unfortunately the hotel made mistakes that piss me off: (1) the Hotel charged me for the second room (greedy and stupid) and (2) the General Manager, Nathan lied to me. He said Booking.com never called the hotel (I have a document showing Booking. I reported this General Manager to their Corporate Customer Service rep.

The location was near everything we needed to go. Staff was very nice and of course lets not forget the chocolate chip cookies 😋

It would have been nice if the pool was heated. The continental breakfast was not good at all, while there was an assortment. The eggs and chicken sausage was over cooked and the already made waffles was too sweet.

The breakfast was great. Big selection. Something for everybody’s dietary needs. The pool was clean and very warm.

There was a bad smell when the air conditioning was on (like stinky feet) at first we thought it was the carpet, but tracked down the smell to the air conditioning unit.
