The whole checking in process was seamless. Sent a code to my phone and walked into the place upon arrival and went right to the room. The staff was friendly and full of history of the actual facility which I found out is only a bit more than a year old. Our room was bigger than my college apartment - apparently I received what would normally be a family room as it had a completely separate breakout room (no door) with a large daybed. The appliances were modern but made to look older - added a cool effect. The facility itself is huge inside with a great bar and very knowledgeable bartender. The drinks were top notch as well.

Not a criticism just an observation - there were no pictures or anything of that sort on the walls in the room. I asked and was told that the place is so new they are getting to everything and plan to fill the space with art from local artists. I had no idea the place was that new.

There was a major problem with the “Booking” website. I was able to book a room that was “blocked” by the owner. The property is a historic building and the owner is a wonderful hostess. She worked diligently to correct the problem with the Booking website to get us credit. Will definitely stay there if in the Albany area in the future but will book directly with the property not thru Booking.com.

Stunning historical mansion, painstakingly restored to its grandeur. Super clean, nicely decorated rooms, and large comfortable common areas including coffee bar, cocktail bar, kitchen for use, and sprawling comfortable sitting and dining rooms. The Hotel is 30 steps from the beautiful Washington Park that is replete with walking/jogging trials around lake, giant beech and maple trees, playground. Owner/Operators make sure everything is “just so”.

Everything was done exactly right.

The rooms were freshly renovated and very clean. The house is in a terrific location, walking distance to Washington Park and the state buildings. It is a historic house restored to its original grandeur. The owners were terrific and a pleasure to talk with. There was always something available to eat - coffee, apples, bananas, oatmeal, yogurt - so it was great if you arrived late or got up early.

My husband thought the bed was quite hard. Our door was not hinged properly, so we had a difficult time opening and closing it. There was some delicious hot breakfast items but they were limited in variety.

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Great location next to the park and walking distance to restaurants and cafes. The lounge and cocktail area is beautiful and the cocktails are excellent. Rooms could use a little updating. Love that they are pet friendly

Beautiful room, elegantly decorated, and huge! The tv was almost too far away lol! The bath was beautifully remodeled with a wonderful slipper tub. The continental breakfast was nicely done. The cocktail lounge had a terrific wine selection-I went home with a new favorite. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Jane Sargeant

One of the best stays we’ve had in years. The hotel is beautifully designed/restored, with the lounge/bar area and communal areas being lovely places to hangout and relax. The owners (Terra and Matt) are GREAT hosts. Both nights we stayed, we ended up sat in the bar for hours, chatting away and having fun. When we realized we missed dinner, they shared their food with us!! Highly recommend The Argus. We will be back.

Nothing - everything was great

I found our room to be spotlessly clean. The building is charming and the breakfast room was cute and cozy to hang out in.

The rooms are very small and basic. Also, I am not sure why the door to our room was wide open when we arrived, as a result, we got eaten alive by mosquitos while we slept.

In all my years of traveling I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything quite like this place! Great people. Great bar. The-property is something everyone should see. Just really groovy and cool with cool folks to help you find what you need!

it was a little hard to find but it was on me.

i liked that entry was done with the codes so we could come & go as we pleased

it’s an old building so no A/C but couldn’t open windows so even though you could request a fan, maybe having one in the room would be better (we got hot after midnight & didn’t want to bother anyone)
