Inn at Taughannock Falls

The lovely old inn itself, beautifully kept up and landscaped. Expansive patio overlooking Cayuga Lake for drinks and dinner. Easy walk to the Falls. Wonderfully comfortable beds. Bery nice continental breakfast.

Though our room in the modern Lakeview building was large with a balcony overlooking the lake, the entrance is on the second floor and you must carry luggage down to the first floor without assistance. We were able to do that, but it was surprising that we needed to. The stairway carpeting is worn and needs to be replaced. Dinner was disappointing, despite the beautiful setting.

I cannot express enough how impressed I was with the entire experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and the highest level of hospitality. The room I stayed in was absolutely perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud every night. The plush carpet added an extra level of comfort and coziness to the room, making it feel like a true home away from home. One of the most impressive features of the room was the bathroom. It was impeccably clean, and the warm atmosphere made me feel relaxed and rejuvenated. The shower was fantastic, with a steady stream of hot water and great water pressure. It was the perfect way to start and end each day of my stay.

We booked the Inn for a 3-day getaway for our 25th Anniversary. The Inn was charming and our room overlooking the lake was just what we were looking for. Dinner in the restaurant downstairs was wonderful. They even brought us free champagne for our anniversary. Breakfast each morning was also fantastic. The dining room is overlooking the lake. The Inn was a great location to hike up to the falls and centrally locate to visit the wineries. All-in-all it was a wonderful stay, and we would not hesitate to go back.

Even though we were there in October, the room got very warm at night. We were able to open windows but a couple of them were missing screens. This really wasn't a big deal and did not affect our trip much at all. We let the front desk know and I'm sure screens will be replaced soon.

We loved the size and decor of our room at Hillside Lakewatch. The bathroom was lovely as was the large shower. We enjoyed our walk to the Inn in the morning with beautiful fall flowers and turning leaves. Views from the restaurant for dinner were fantastic as was the dinner service.

Constructive advice: There did not seem to be enough parking at Hillside to accommodate all of the guests. The lot down the hill was not too far but may be harder for others to navigate. The curtains in the Lakewatch bathroom seemed to be a bit translucent. I felt if I could see the lights outside than others might be able to see into the bathroom. The continental breakfast was as expected but it was difficult to get utensils. I believe the waitstaff was to supply them but on the second day we never received any at all. Perhaps leaving a basket of rolled utensils with napkin would alleviate stress on staff and easily serve guests.

Breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented- something for everybody. Baked goods were delicious. The plain/vanilla? yogurt/fresh fruit/granola was excellent. The décor in the breakfast room was equally flawless- the white china, the flatware pattern, and the Empire style dining chairs all served to create well thought out and cared for surroundings. I hated to leave!

For your prices, you should have robes and slippers in the room. There was only one wastebasket and it was in the toilet room - We needed one in the sink area and a small one near coffee station - the latter two would not need to be pedal-operated.

The property is spectacular, set up on a hill overlooking Cayuga Lake. Our room in the Main Inn was spacious & felt luxurious with soft carpeting, charming decor, views of the lake and nice touches like bottled water & Lindt chocolates - although a bit more f a climb to the second floor. The included continental breakfast was lovely to have on the spacious enclosed veranda overlooking the lake. The whole property seemed very well maintained and had lots of places to enjoy sitting outside - even into the night with fire pits if you so choose.

The inn is comprised of two Victorian style houses situated on a beautiful property overlooking Cayuga lake. You can hike the nearby lakeshore or Taughannock Falls right from the inn, on foot. A kayak/sup rental shop is on the lakeshore (summer only). We celebrated an anniversary here, and we had the nice surprise of a champagne bottle in our room when we arrived. It's a very special experience staying here, I would highly recommend it.

Setting, rooms, view, upbeat attitude of the staff and the supper, which was terrific. We also enjoyed the easy hike (more like a walk) to the Falls, just adjacent to the property.

No inn or hotel of this quality and price should offer only a sorry buffet breakfast of rubbery eggs, stale donuts and the like (apparently a la carte breakfasts are available only on weekends). The least that ought to be offered would be an omelette station, for freshly cooked eggs and omelettes. This is a beautiful inn with high aspirations, not a national chain of low-price motels!

The outside seating; stone fireplace; fire pits and adirondacks; landscaping; view of the lake - absolutely outstanding. The property is fantastic, and close enough to Ithaca if you are in the area for a college or university event. The breakfast was better than I expected; the room spacious and clean. No televisions, but that was no bother to me. Bed was very comfortable. I will certainly stay again and I recommend it highly.

The shades they have in the rooms are decent, but dark shades will help keep the light from getting in too early.

The Inn was lovely! The foliage at this time of year was beautiful. Next time we will stay longer.

We left early morning to discover the area and didn’t get back till after 3. Our room had not been cleaned. The maid came at 4 when we were just taking a 1/2 hour nap. We politely declined. The breakfast on first morning as great. The second morning everything was cold. The eggs, sausage, potatoes. Was disappointed. Maybe they forgot to add the sterno?
