Super 8 by Wyndham Kingston

A lovely reminder of the Kingston of yesteryear, when you could buy drugs in every parking lot and smoke anywhere you pleased. The colorful characters and frisson of danger from the broken security measures provided an energizing greeting when I arrived after midnight, and my morning was enhanced by dappled light flowing through the curious holes in the curtains. I even got a free bobby pin when it fell out of my sheets, which from the hair throughout I could tell someone had been kind enough to test out for my comfort. I learned a new game- "dodge the oncoming water when you flush," and my accuracy was enhanced by the surprising grip- bordering on stickiness - of the floors. Falling asleep was easy as I focused relaxed attention on the ceiling stain directly overhead as the heater rumbled and ground away any outside noise save the soothing tones of a distant horn. For tech-forward travelers who might want to charge cellular telephones or the like, there is a single outlet conveniently located above the sink. Other amenities included three lights (two working), one chair decoratively spattered in glue(?), and a refrigerator that is remarkably clean, perhaps because it takes so much strength to open. The venue has cultivated a signature scent throughout which I couldn't quite place but fortunately seems to have settled in the back of my throat for further review. Upstate may be gentrifying, but this place is obviously putting a lot of work into maintaining its classic identity. While the fancy Marriott was cheaper than this the last time I was in town, it had none of the character and wasn't nearly as close to Rainbow Stores or the auto parts stores.

While on my bingo card I was able to find cigarette butts, hallway mold, juul pods and blunt wrap packaging, I didn't get to see any needles or vials. Maybe next time!

We stayed in a large suite. It was two rooms added together. It was clean. It was in a decent location. Great for families. The room had 2 TV's, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a small coffee pot.

One of the TVs had cable issues, which was not able to be used the 1st night. The cable company had to come out the next day and fix it.

Loved the big chair! My husband can sleep in a chair like that, Love the grab bars in the bathroom. The towels were nice and thick. The AC worked well. Lots of pillows.

One more blanket should be available. Perhaps the desk lamp could be updated with an outlet for a guest's laptop to be plugged into. The lamp was less than beautiful, with the meta base looking pitted. There was no bread for toasting. or butter, for breakfast.

Location is convenient. Enough parking lot. 24 hour coffee/tea and cold/hot water supply at the lobby. Front desk staffs are very welcoming and helpful. We would like to try using Apple Pay and the front desk staff helped us to try. Even though it didn’t work but still very appreciated!

The facility is quite old but decent. The room is very damp, the floor got wet over night even though we turned on the AC, probably due to the first floor. There’s no fan or air circulation in the bathroom. The bathroom got super wet and humid after showers. Also the wall is not sound proof at all. I can hear squeaking noise of bed from upstairs.

Front desk gentleman was extremely nice and very patient with a few others checking in. Room was large, Bathroom was very clean, King bed was super comfy, and the AC was already on which was so refreshing after a 6 hour drive in 95 degrees. The breakfast was prepackaged and choice of orange or apple juice. Coffee was really good. Room coffee was not the best.

I completely understand that during the pandemic you could no larger serve breakfast so I was happy to have a prepackaged breakfast but was hoping for a little bit more than a muffin, granola bar, fruit cup, and juice. I didn't dislike it I just wish there were possibly prepackaged breakfast sandwiches with egg and bacon or sausage to heat up in our room microwaves.

From reading others’ reviews, expectations were low. I found it clean and everything worked. Decor dated but adequate. I needed a place to lay my head and it worked great for that.

No available protein for breakfast except cream cheese. Plenty of sugar, though.

Big comfy beds. Clean room. Great air conditioning. Staff friendly.

Carpeting on stairs leading to 2nd floor and 2nd floor carpeting needed cleaning. Some tending to painting needed in stairwell. Wish they had a more sufficient breakfast. The return of a hot breakfast would be nice.

I was woken up to banging, like the sound of sex. Depends where I went out for a cigarette some weirdo would approach you. breakfast services do not last long at all

The trucker that took a picture of my 19 year old daughter coming from her car alone while he was broke down on side of. Building.

The room was basic but clean. The staff were friendly. The location is very convenient, it is located right off the New York Thruway and nearby Kingston.

There should be an automatic door when you enter so that you don't have to put down your bags or luggage to open the door. There isn't an elevator, which isn't the biggest deal, but we were traveling with a massage table so it was cumbersome to carry it up the stairs. Also, soundproofing between the rooms could be better.
