The Host, Diane, was very friendly, helpful and attentive as she offered a lot of great local suggestions. Very knowledgeable of the area. Room was very clean and the wood décor made for a very cozy feel. Jacuzzi is excellent and had many features/mode and absolutely made the stay memorable. Room can be a bit toasty due to a well-functioning heating system but thankfully there's an a/c available to make temperature control a breeze.

If you're planning on driving there just make sure to be attentive to alternate side parking rules or plan ahead and park in one of the nearby garages. The meter-maids are very punctual as I spotted a few cars with tickets within 15 mins of ASP-cleaning start time.

This is an historic mansion in Harlem with a great deal of character and style. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great for allowing us to visit our daughter, who lives 1.3 miles away, and to see the sights in the area. The staff was helpful, friendly and accomodating. Because of 7 flight delays, we did not arrive until 11:00 p.m. I had kept the staff informed, and someone available to check us in and help us with baggage when we arrived. The kitchen is magnificent. We were very pleased with our stay.

There was a missing door knob on the inside of our bathroom, but we managed without it.

I like the location and the general feel of the property. the house is historical and the room  was comfortable. 

there was no one there to greet us when we arrived, even though we had told the owner our arrival time. We had to wait an hour and a half on the stoop for someone to come let us in. That wasn’t actually that bad, and we were compensated nicely. Everybody at the property is very nice and warm, but we did not get a general orientation to the kitchen rules and there was nobody there when we got up the next morning around eight to show us how to make coffee and where the refrigerator was to store our food.

Host was absolutely accommodating, helpful, and pleasant. Location in Harlem is perfect, super close to everything, especially the Harlem hot spots, Central Park, Yankee Stadium, and the airport! A lot of food options close by and of course the Apollo theatre! Comfortable bed, nice clean bathroom and clean, fun, eclectic decor throughout the shared parts of the bed and breakfast (kitchen and dining room). Really well priced for NYC as well!

The only thing I would have liked different was to have a closed off toilet. The suite/floor we were in was nice and has an open concept in which one can view the sink, shower, jacuzzi and bed all from one spot, which is fine for a couple. The toilet however, although tucked away around the corner of the shower, didn't have a door to shut, which was weird. Also, not a big issue, but the mini fridge in the room didnt work and I dont think there was a microwave on the premise to easily heat up food.

I appreciated that they made their stay like a home to us. There’s usually some food and kitchenware for our guests. I especially appreciate the free water bottles they have near the front of the first floor. The room was clean and at the right temperature. It was not too cold or too hot, which I also really appreciated (I’d prefer staying here more than the typical Marriott hotel room, where it gets too cold for me to stay comfortably unless I change the temperature). A bonus portion of the stay is the $20/person breakfast, which I enjoyed! The location is excellent - located in a beautiful neighborhood the heart of Harlem. I’d 10/10 recommend! The folks who maintain Northern Lights Mansion were very sweet! I stayed for a business trip but would highly recommend folks to book the suite option here for a date night!

I loved the Harlem location, it is close to transportation, restaurants, and stores. Northern Lights harkens back to a time of elegance and has plenty of vintage charm and decor, with a twist of modern. It boosts a big, beautiful kitchen and fridge to store stuff. My room had amenities like a sauna and five jet shower and big screen cable TV. The front desk manager/concierge was very welcoming, gave me a tour, and helped me with my bags.

Luckily, I had my own, but there was no soap or body wash in the bathroom. A thicker comforter or bedspread would have been nice. And unfortunately where I stayed was close to the front sidewalk and I could hear voices for a bit, but that is typical sometimes in Harlem.

The place is gorgeous, the decor is lovely, the location is great (little bit frightening at night but to be honest it was fine once we found a route we were comfortable with), Aubrey was just a delightful host, the other guests were lovely and it was a pleasure to have a cup of tea in the morning and evening together and catch up about our day for half an hour. It felt like we had all known each other for years. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows. It was lovely and warm and the sauna we had in our room was gorgeous (although we only used it once because we were so busy). Great facilities. All the other reviews say it’s like home from home and that’s a very accurate description.

Absolutely nothing

great location close to 2 subway lines, supermarkets, grocery stores, walkable to Central Park (about 10 mts). Although Harlem might look unsafe sometimes, this place is well located and we didn’t have any safety issues. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

Although they say it is Bed & Breakfast, they don’t serve breakfast. There were some small mosquitos and a big cockroach in the room, probably due to the humidity for the jacuzzi. Internet sometimes didn’t work well.

The host was incredibly kind. The shared area and kitchen were very clean and unique. The room was also very unique and cozy.

The only thing about my stay that I would mention is the room and entire building were too warm. I opened the window and turned on the air conditioning when it was 20 degrees outside, and I still could not sleep in the heat. However, it was still a wonderful stay.

Our room was beautifully appointed and quiet. Having Aubrey there to greet us as we entered and say good-bye when we left was an extra special touch! Building felt secure and the restoration was truly lovely.

We were on the ground level so could not pull back the curtain for natural light. Some small noise at night when people checked their mail or put out some trash but overall, not a big issue. Remarkably quiet side street off a busy main street.
