We really enjoyed our stay at the Gallery House. The staff was really nice and welcoming and the place was clean and big. The wifi worked well and all the facilities offered were exceptional for this price. It is located in the "save area" of Harlem and has a metro station nearby. Next time I go to New York I wouldn't even look for another place to stay. We would definitely recommend this place.

I would only say that it was a little bit cold in the room. But there was a small portable heater in the room and the bed was warm and comfy.

Location in Harlem was very good, subway very close and a weeks unlimited travel can be purchased for just £30. The house is set in a quiet street, we barely heard a noise during the night. The room had all that was needed - bed, sofa, wardrobe and dresser, tables, fridge, coffee maker, microwave. Bathroom had all that you would expect. Towels, hairdryer and basic toiletries provided too. The host - from the initial greeting to carrying our cases up and downstairs to giving us a quick tour of the area. Above and beyond what you would expect.

Nothing that bothered us while we were there. We stayed near Halloween so the creaky stairs were spooky.

The perfect place to stay for our family, with 2 adults and 3 teenagers. The location is great, nice, quiet and friendly neighbourhood, in a beautiful historic district of tree-lined streets with nicely preserved old row houses. Close to subway, so it is easy to get around to all NYC attractions in short time, and with nice restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. The host is super helpful and friendly, and the apartment had everything our family needed for our one week stay. I strongly recommend this place to others.

We felt like home warmly welcomed by the extremely kind Marc who was there for us every time we needed. The house highlights typical NYC architecture with a narrow staircase and lovely street view. The room was spacious and big enough for 3 pax family and our stuff. We had a microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee machine. Even a heater in case there is chilly. The wi-fi quality was excellent. The place is quiet and cozy - must stay to feel like a resident of the city. The location of this apartment is in Harlem, 3 mins walk far from the Metro Station (135th Street), from where you can easily get to anywhere in NYC and the express line if fast transport is needed. There are a lot of delis and grocery stores nearby and a commercial center is just a few blocks away.

We are a group of 6 friends visiting New York for the first time. We were looking for a quiet location that is reasonably priced and relatively close to all attractions. The host was very kind and welcoming and he was available for all the information we needed. We had a 5-minute walk to the metro station, from where we could move in all directions, especially towards Downtown of New York. The apartment is big enough for 6 people, 5 of whom are women :) The interior is super interesting. We definitely recommend.

Mattresses could be a bit firmer, but again that's just a matter of personal preference.

Location very good. Walking distance to the closes metro station: 5 minutes. Several restaurants, fast food and supermarket in 5 minutes walking distance. The room is nice, perfect for us (we were 3 persons). We were in the top floor and the room was super quiet, which is quite difficult to find in New York. I remember been in hotels in Times Square paying double where you could hear every whisper from the room nearby. Mark helped us with some recommendations about the neighborhood

Everything was fine

First and foremost - the landlord was extremely welcoming and helpful. What made me chose this over perhaps better locations in Queens much nearer Midtown, was the ambiance of the room and the reviews that mentioned the landlord - and I was right. This was so much better than a soulless hotel - ample space, clean room, good bathroom and the personal touch. You get a coffee maker and a fridge. The neighbourhood seemed safe (this particular street is lined with brownstone buildings and is very nice), there is a supermarket nearby where you can stock up for your breakfasts. There were also some restaurants but in the end we didn't try them out. You can reach two subway stations in a few minutes on foot. The centre of Harleem (125th Street) is one station away. Generally, highly recommended.

Aircon was kind of too strong, as everywhere in the US, and you can't really adjust it from within the room - it is blowing straight in your face when you are lying in bed (solution - sleep the other way round). Beds/pilows could be more comfy too. Pricewise - I guess the whole New York is just ridiculously expensive from my perspective (I live in Berlin), it was comparable to some basic hotels which had a bit better location.

Excellent location. So good to leave the busy and crowded streets in the centre of Manhattan and return to the quiet street and The Gallery House. Great position to reach the subway from/to The Gallery House. We tended to get off the subway at 135th street from A and C trains (or B). A few minutes walk to The Gallery House on 137th street. Peaceful. Mark and Dana very friendly and helpful.

Today's Harlem is not yesterday's Harlem. I stayed here in early June 2022 with my 17 year old daughter and we are two females. It felt like we were visiting Sesame Street. We walked to nearby restaurants in the late evening and felt safe; watched a local basketball game at 11pm on a Friday or Saturday night, and we loved the neighborhood vibe. It was actually really nice to "come home" to The Gallery House at the end of our busy days in the City, and we mostly got around by subway but one night we took a taxi back from Times Square and I think it was around $30. Great location and the subway access was just around the corner. Corner deli nearby, also easy access. The building itself is interestingly appointed - loads of character. Loved this place. Mark the host is a gem, too.

We stayed on the top floor in early June, and summer temperatures were already well under way. The building has central air so it's temperature controlled by the host. Knowing heat rises and we were on the third floor, our particular room did get a little warm - but we found a fan in the closet and it came in handy at night, to help circulate the air. Didn't feel the need to open the windows since the a/c was on, we just needed a little boost with the small floor fan. Otherwise the room was awesome and the eclectic vibe runs consistently throughout the building which gives it so much character!
