Hotel Ylem

Check in was pleasant and organized. Room was clean, nice size. Decor was fun. Fairly close to NRG stadium and the Houston medical area grouping of buildings. High marks for free breakfast. We did not use it, but we understand the hotel offers free Uber service within a certain radius of the hotel, which sounded helpful. There is a nice Kroger supermarket fairly close to the hotel, and a number of different types of restaurants within a short distance. Every thing in our room worked, and we would stay there again.

The staff was so amazing! Very helpful and took the best care of myself and husband. Being in Houston for Dr visits was already overwhelming but soon as we stepped foot inside Ylem we felt a good release of pressure. Xander is the bartender and is a whole vibe in himself. We definitely cut up with him several evenings and he was the icing on top of such a great stay. We most definitely will be returning for all my appointments.

Being in Houston for Dr visits that came daily with no warning so we kept having to extend our day. Being there a week I went ahead and extended 2 days instead of one just to not bother with it. Just our luck Dr released me and we checked out but the hotel wouldn't refund the 1 stay. Just kinda seemed a bit petty knowing that we was happy there and we would be returning as future customers.

Location was good, and staff always helpful.

Breakfast should have more low sugar healthy choices. Asked for an invoice at the end of the stay and was told this was not possible as I booked through Booking.com. I was told that booking.com would send me an invoice which I have not received, unsure how it is possible to get an invoice for my stay through Booking.com Would have been nice if the hotel had an garden area that you could sit in - some chairs, tables.

Wonderful clean rooms with all basic amenities. Great check-in counter and room services. Wonderful Management Staff - Ms. Felts, Misha & Martinez....The cleanliness of this Hotel is a good example to others in its class.

Good, decent breakfast but could of had a little more variety. Couldn't use Gym due to musty room smell and out-of-service cardio machines. Hotel Ylem should invest in constructing a Swimming Pool.

Clean and beautiful decor! Everyone i came into contact with was professional and friendly and willing to make us comfortable. Amazing breakfast!

We needed transportation to MDA. Instead of a shuttle, they book an Uber for guests. Our Uber driver who took us to MDA had no idea where he was going and dropped is in a place where we had to walk forever to get where we needed to be. On the way back we went through at least 3 attempts with Uber drivers that Ylem arranged and none of them knew how to get where we were. We ended up booking our own Lyft drive back to the hotel. Not sure why uber was so clueless, especially in this area where so many people stay near the medical center. Maybe ylem needs to rethink this arrangement.

The design was really great and eclectic. I really appreciate everything that the owners did to make this a boutique hotel. However, I assume the hotel was old because it had a bad old motel smell. also the bathtub was very filthy, but really I’m assuming it’s stained black because it’s so old. The owners need to refinish those tubs… as we were staying just one night I waited until I get home to take a shower. Other than that I cannot complain. Staff was great really friendly except the morning clerk. We came down and she didn’t even greet us.

I've stayed at Hotel Ylem at least 8x's. The staff is always super nice and the rooms are immaculate in appearance and cleanliness. Free breakfast in the morning is great. The location is perfect due to lots of shopping areas nearby such as Target, Ross, Five Below, Big Lots, and a Fiesta. Plenty of restaurants and fast food spots within the same area. My favorite Hotel in that area for the price.

The elevator was out of order at the time but there aren't many stairs so the walk was easy. I needed the exercise anyway. 😊

This property was very unique and beautiful. The decor inside and out was just stunning and fun. The person at the front desk when we arrived the evening of the 20th of December at 11pm was an absolute delight and very friendly. Everything was extremely clean.

My one and only complaint is that it was winter and cold outside, and the blanket wasn’t much of a blanket, more like an extra sheet. Still not enough of a complaint to not make me absolutely RAVE about this place to all of my family and friends though.

The service! The wonderful overnight man at the desk and the new guy at the bar were both amazing!! I’ve stayed here a few times before & really enjoyed it, hence coming back. But this time, the service was the best yet. these 2 were happy & laughing & it was contagious- they had everyone that was in the bar & lobby all talking with each other & laughing along with them every night. Thank you guys so much for the fun!!

Had never heard of the property but we were pleasantly surprised with what this boutique hotel had to offer. Great location near the Houston Medical Center, near many restaurants and shops and in a relatively safe part of town. For a hotel with this price point a bar was a nice touch. Xander the bartender was a special treat and had a wealth of info about the area. A hot breakfast meal was way beyond my expectation.
