Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Gateway, an IHG Hotel

Staff was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was excellent. Location was great. The hotel was close to everything we wanted to see, Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Very good restaurants close by. Nice having the 7/11 close for things you might need, coffee creamer, snacks and gas.

We didn’t use the pool. The water was cloudy and you could see dirt on the bottom. It needed more chlorine and vacuumed. It is a public pool so I wish it was cleaner so that my husband and I would have felt comfortable using it.

The location was central to all of our needs. It was in a great location.....

When we arrived at the holiday inns and suites the person at the reservation desk stated that she could not locate our reservation that booking .com stated that they had confirmrd..The holiday innn staff person booked for us a great suite direct with holiday inn at a great price.. What WE did not like turned out great.....Booking .com did a great job explaining the problem to me....All IS WELL AT THIS TIME.......W V B, Hmpton va

The hotel is in a great location, close to everything in the area. The staff was just amazing, from Alisha at the front desk to the staff in the kitchen. Everyone was super helpful, willing, and friendly!!! Breakfast had a lot of choices, which is rare. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, tater tots, biscuits and gravy, cereal, fruits, yogurts, breads, etc. Many drinks to choose from as well. My child cannot have dairy (except for eggs) and when I asked the kitchen staff if the scrambled eggs had butter, she said they did, but it was not a problem for her to make scrambled eggs for my child without butter!!! They absolutely did not have to do that but went above and beyond to make sure my child had a good breakfast. Amazing. All booths in the dining area had their own TVs at the wall on the table, which was a plus for the kids. If breakfast is not included with your stay, it was $15 per person, but worth it in my opinion. Plus, kids under 10 yrs eat free breakfast with paying adult. Loved it. The hotel was super clean and new/modern. Although we did not use the pool this time, it is a plus and stays open late. We will definitely be back if staying in the area.

The Air Conditioner Truly Worked Very Well. Water in Shower was Nice and HOT. Bed was Very Comfortable. Room was Very Clean, not brand New but nice enough for me to give a 9 for cleanliness. Bathroom was modern but Shower/Tub Area needs to be Updated. Shower looked OLD and could use a TILE Remodel. The Staff of this Hotel were VERY NICE and Very PROFESSIONAL!! Very Rare to find this level of Treatment in hotels.

The View from our room 218 was bad and we could not see over see the lower rooftop's black tar surface from our window. Curtain was ripped, not enough USB Outlets. Microwave Turn Table was not turning because the glass inside was not the one intended for that model microwave, must have been a replacement glass. At One Point during our stay, our key to the room didn't work. I had to go to the front desk and have the key reactivated. The front desk person was VERY HELPFUL and NICE. The Staff was EXCELLENT and Very Professional.

This hotel has a personable and professional staff. The hotel seems relatively new and is very clean and has a fresh feeling to it. Very convenient to restaurants, gas stations and Colonial Williamsburg.

I didn't realize until I arrived that I would have to pay for the breakfast buffet. There were good selections but considering that I paid over $300 for the 2 nights it would have been very nice if they had let me have the buffet for free. Also, the room that I stayed in was quite nice but it was right on Bypass Road and the view was of the gas station across the street!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel and the room was clean, spacious and close to everywhere that I wanted to visit in Colonial Williamsburg. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. They have a controlled A/C system and the room A/C n was not on when I got in the room. I called and spoke to the desk as it was after 11 pm when I checked in. They offered to change my room if the air didn’t come on, then the air suddenly came on while I was on the phone with them. The air never got cold enough for me for the 2 days I was there and I was too tired to move so I just stuck it out for the 2 nights.

The A/ C temperature level is centrally controlled and is not cold enough.

Location is excellent, right on Bypass Road you're literally two minutes from Colonial Williamsburg and a 10-15 minute ride to Busch Gardens. 7-11 right across the street in case you get hit with a snacc attac. This is really the biggest draw for this place IMO. I liked not being on the 'main hotel drag' because the traffic in that area gets a little nuts. The pool/hot tub area and the exercise room both looked good though I did not use my son did and was happy with both.

Beds could have been comfier, but I'm picky about beds anyway. Was a bit too soft for my tastes (and my back). I can't say that I didn't like the breakfast, but I could have taken it or left it. It was included with the room, so of course I took it. Plenty on the menu, both hot and cold foods. Buffet style. Consistent members of the buffett included eggs (albeit overcooked) and biscuits and gravy (yassssss). Breakfast meats were hit and miss....sausage just was 'off' but bacon was great when offered. Small boxed cereals and waffle maker to keep the kiddos happy. Fruit to go. Coffee to go.

The breakfast was excellent but the fact that they tried to charge us for any person over 2 was annoying ( you needed vouchers for every person and they only gave us 2 per day) . I've never had that happen at a hotel breakfast before. They did honor all of us for free but I had to call booking.com who then called the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful and very quickly helped us resolve the issue. Exceptional customer service by the front desk and the breakfast staff.

Our room was not vacuumed before we arrived (there were candy peices all over the rug). There weren't enough wash cloths. The carpets were stained. There weren't any towels at the pool one of the mornings that I used the pool. Minor issues overall as they were quickly resolved.

The front desk staff on the afternoon of June 25th were exceptional. We didn’t see them again during our stay but they were a high point in our visit. The suite was great for our family size. The free kids dinners were great.

We paid extra for the breakfast to be “included” with our room. The breakfast on good days was passable… the day we checked out we didn’t even eat. No plates, no cups, no bacon, the biscuits and gravy gravy had a film on top. It was awful. If there was a way to be reimbursed for the breakfast we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat, that would be nice.

Breakfast was good - Staff Jasmine was excellent during breakfast! Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Close location to busch gardens.

When calling the property to get specifics about our stay and accommodations the staff member was rude in tone and dismissive. She even told us "all my other phones are ringing here you can order off menu" and hung up on us. I wish the pool would have had longer time access. The price of our stay was pricy compared to other locations, but worth it since it was during a weekday.
