Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol

The breakfast was amazing. The best part of the stay.

The booking site implied parking was included with your reservation, which was why I booked here. It was not. The parking available was very pricey valet. But there was a garage across the street that was cheaper and not far. However, the address they give you for the hotel, doesn't have an unlocked door. You have to walk around the block to get to the entrance, and I had to do so with 4 little kid and all their stuff.

The staff was superb. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Rooms were spacious and comfy. Pete's Coffee has the best cookies and is a 5 minute walk away. Lots of food options nearby.

Housecleaning... Cleaning a room every third day is fine but if someone says no to day 3, they should ask on day 4 no? I thought my room to be cleaned and it wasn't. It was hard to get through to front desk to ask for it as either the phone isn't answered or the front has a lineup. They may be understaffed. My blackout curtains were broken and wouldn't roll up or down. Again hard to tell someone about it when the desk is always full.

I felt the breakfast was good. It was what I expected which was eggs, sausage, pancakes or waffles, juice, coffee, oatmeal, cereal, and bread/toast options. I absolutely loved that the a/c felt extra cold due to the humidity. It was nice to come back to a cold room. The front desk was very friendly. I had a 2 queen room with a sofa. I loved the spacious room with a great view. I flew in the night of 4th of July at night so I was able to see multiple fireworks even after 11pm. The bathroom was spacious as well.

The only thing I can think of if at all, would be that not all ice machines were working. I had to go to multiple floors to find a working one, which I did.

Everything was good at the hotel.

The hotel is called Hyatt Place US Capitol. I reserved there because I thought it was near the Capitol and museums and Mall. It was not. I had to spend almost $100 on Lyft for transportation that I wouldn't have had to spend if it was near the Capitol. The name is deceiving. There is a Hyatt Regency for the same price that is close to the train station and the museums and monuments that would have been much more convenient and have saved me the money I spent for Lyft. They need to change the name of the hotel. The neighborhood is Noma. It should say that and not "Capitol".

Excellent Location for walkers. This hotel boasts an outstanding location, a mere 20-minute stroll away from both the Capitol and Smithsonian Museums. Notably, during the booking process, there was no information provided regarding the presence of an outdoor swimming pool, making it a delightful surprise for our children, particularly given the scorching weather outside. Additionally, the breakfast offered here is of a commendable standard. Good value in comparison to other similar hotels in the area.

The staff is wonderful. True they are busy, but they are kind and do a good job. If you are patient to wait in line behind the person in front of you, they will certainly tend to you next. The breakfast is great as is the kitchen staff. Occasionally I did see a line going in to get food, but this hotel has about 200 rooms. Those people come to get food. The line was never long enough to deter. Offerings each morning are great for us as vegans but non vegans alike. There is fresh berries and fruit each morning. Toast, bagels, steel cut oats with various toppings, diced potatoes or hash browns and oat milk, which were all delicious. There are also eggs, yogurt, dairy milk, meat and breakfast cereal, I can't voice any opinion on those other than the fact that they were frequently consumed by they guests. The neighbourhood is about 1.5 miles from the National Mall. We walked to and from most days. It is a pretty typical DC neighbourhood. We never felt unsafe, just know you are in a big city with a moderate crime rate, like anywhere in DC.

So many negative reviews. People are so harsh.

The room was wonderful. Clean, spacious, comfy beds, great shower. The complimentary breakfast was solid. Scrambled eggs and sausages were always fresh. Great coffee. Super friendly and helpful staff.

The only really bad thing is the regular criminal activity at the cross street of this hotel. While we didn’t have any problems and felt safe in and in front of the hotel, you need to be especially prudent walking on the streets near this hotel. There were two shootings the week prior to our arrival and police were parked outside a neighboring apartment complex 24 hours a day the five days we were there. The valet parking was great and helped alleviate our concerns.

The first rooms they gave us in the 4th floor where a little dirty one of the rooms have a very strong cigarette smell, and a mattress without fitted and both rooms have the A/C filters box open. Kind of their not ready for us. When we call the host she almost call us liars, that was very uncomfortable we where there with 4 kids and a 7 months old baby. We just want to feel like home and comfy. But finally she bring new keys and a kart and tell us to move alone. The new rooms in the 7th floor where perfectly clean I inspected everything and we stay another night, we have fun, the breakfast was super delicious.The engineer in the first night Dec 20, he was kind, and all the staff in Dec 21 and 22 where excellent.

The hotel is clean and smells good. Room is spacious. The bathroom/shower room are modern/updated. And even if we were in the higher floors, water supply was impressive. And we loved that restaurants and groceries are just across the property. And it’s very accessible to public transportations, like just a minutes walk to the metrobus stops and metrorail station. Staff are great too. Responds quickly to our concerns. And not only that, a bonus of a balance and wide selection of breakfast buffet too. And the property is secured. Cannot enter the property without your keycard. The whole stay was great. Highly recommended to travelers.
