Clarion Hotel and Convention Center Baraboo

The restaurant was amazing!!!! Some of the best Italian food we have had!!!! Both of the gentlemen who checked us in and out the next day were very helpful, made us feel welcome, very genuine.

Stayed in room 103. It rained hard before we checked in and again later during the night. The window leaked all over. We informed the front desk when we checked out the next morning, he made a note to get it taken care of.

Due to COVID, the Clarion was quite shut down, but our interactions with the staff were pleasant and service was good. We had a room on the ground floor from which we could monitor our car in the parking lot just outside the window. The hotel's location is reasonably convenient to local eateries and attractions. When we arrived, we thought we might have made an error in coming to Baraboo, as we'd come intending to visit the Circus World Museum, only to find that it was opening later than usual due to COVID (long after we had to depart again!). But we had some of the best meals of our 24-day trip here: Jen's Alpine Cafe (superb, a 30s diner on the main town square) for breakfast, Driftless Glen Distillery and Restaurant (right on the Baraboo River) for dinner, and the Log Cabin Family Restaurant for our second breakfast. And instead of seeing the Circus World Museum, we were able to reserve a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin East. We definitely intend to visit Baraboo again, and the Clarion was a good place to stay while enjoying this characterful and welcoming town.

The Clarion is a bit run-down, and the pool was a particular disappointment. But the beds were comfortable and the price right, and we slept well both nights.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great location and attached to a Italian restaurant with some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten.

Bathrooms were very small, workout room had pretty much no equipment, pool was over chlorinated.

Only thing left was coffee. Lady with daughter was there when I was checking out and they took all of lunch bags that were on counter by coffee and there were at least 8-9 and nothing was left and clerk was busy behind desk. We left and went down the block and purchased breakfast -

The room was great and the man who was at desk when we checked in went out of his way to take are of our needs. We had stayed here twice before but had our best experience this time. Our business was scheduled close so this is best place to stay & based on previous experience we almost didn't make reservation but our experience this time and based on the man who checked us in definitely changed our thinking. They definitely have a great staff person working.

The property has been refreshed with new paint, carpeting, and air conditioning.

Still some things that need sprucing up- the pool floor needs to be repainted, windows need to be washed a little more frequently, and back of house operations need to be cleaned up- a lot of crap laying around back there.

Pool area was really really hard to breathe in. We were looking forward to the hot tub but got out right away. Couldn’t breathe the air and the chemicals in the water made our eyes red and irritated right away. :/

The beds were the most comfortable I've ever had at a hotel. Very clean rooms and pool area.

The breakfast area needs reconfigured. The juice is in the corner, but there are so many people lined up for waffles, you can't get to the juice.

the air conditioner filters need cleaning. didn’t want to open windows due to poor air quality at the time of my visit.

The property was pretty nice itself, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. It was a perfect stay for a weekend getaway, with many food options near by as well as gas stations and grocery stores.

A lot of construction was going on with the doors. The noises of the drills and tools were kind of obnoxious, but that is about all.

We really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the waffles.

There was only one bar of soap in the room which had two queen beds. There was also only one bottle of shampoo.
