Minerva Church Hotel

Good value for money in the Old Quater of Hanoi. Clean and staff was excellent. Organised a car to take me to the airport for $15.

Beware of the house of worship behind the hotel, the lone, loud male voice starts at 8.30am with an afternoon service. Perhaps it’s just on Saturday’s-? Check with hotel. Don’t let it put you off staying here though, nice hotel.

The staff were really excellent. However, I usually stay in other places around VN, so perhaps staff are generally more polite in Hanoi. But whatever, I was very impressed. They seemed to really care about our comfort, it was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable. I can't pretend this was on a level with higher-end hotels, but the location was absolutely fantastic. To be honest, if I go to a really expensive hotel and feel that the staff don't care about me, then I would rather stay at a more modest place where they do. This place was perfect.

Nothing, except the very minor issue that they said they would prepare breakfast for 5am and didn't. But I can't take issue with that, at such an early hour.

Its location is the best in town. I also like its elegant design. Good breakfast in a very peaceful and elegant set up. Staff is very attentive

The Minerva Church Hotel is superb!! The location in the centre of the Old French Quarter of Hanoi is perfect - all the tourist sites are within walking distance for the average traveller. We booked 9 months ago for a 6-night stay and paid on arrival only £207 (including one shuttle journey to the airport) - what fantastic value for money. We recommend the hotel's airport shuttle to all travellers - it was reliable and costs some 40% less than a standard taxi ride to or from the airport. The staff were exceptional - reception, restaurant (for breakfast) & housekeeping worked to the highest of standards throughout our stay. Breakfast catered for all tastes - both international and Asian. The restaurant has wonderful ambience and now provides a vegetarian signature menu for lunch and dinner - however, we only used the restaurant for our breakfasts (being meat-eaters). There are numerous nearby restaurants for those who like a meat lunch or dinner. The bed was the most comfortable we have experienced in any hotel for many years. Within the hotel is the Metris Spa - hotel guests get a 30% discount - need we say more! I have written over 100 reviews for booking.com hotel's in the last 15 years and have only ever given any hotel a perfect 10 out of 10 score in all areas once before (some 10 years ago) - now I award the Minerva Church hotel my second accolade of 10 out of 10 in all areas. This hotel is highly recommended for a short or long stay in Hanoi

The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. I loved the complimentary welcome passion fruit juice. Our one night at the hotel the AC in our room did not seem to be working very well. Sunny at the front desk was very helpful and helped arrange a fan for my room. We spent a night in Ha Long Bay and when we came back, the staff held our luggage for a few hours before our flight even though we had checked out the day before. They also helped us translate some confusing information for our flight and called the airline on our behalf. They also brought us more watermelon juice as they saw we were very warm. Sunny (again) and Lisa at the desk went above and beyond to help us even though we were no longer officially guests at the hotel.

Breakfast was tasty and varied, but some of the food was not very warm. They did bring us very tasty fresh scrambles eggs though. There was a small bench/step to get into the shower which may make it difficult for some people.

The property is clean and close to shopping whether it’s the grocery store or souvenir stores and the night market. It is walking distance to attractions like the St. Joseph Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake, puppet theater and train street. It is right across a Starbucks and other good restaurants. The outside of the hotel is not as crowded like the other hotels in the old quarter. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is also included with great selection of food.

It’s not easy if you have a physical disability but that’s pretty much all of Hanoi.

The location is very good, just near St Joseph Cathedral, with a lot of restaurants and shops nearby. But we appreciated especially the staff (Sunny, Lisa, Thomas), ready to answer to all the questions, always kind, smiling and helpful. The breakfast was rather basic - with tasty home made yogurt, noodles, eggs, omelette, some fruits, tea, milk, coffee (my suggestion would be to add some muesli and porridge), but enough for us. I appreciated also the shaving kit and the teeth brush in the room every morning (they have also umbrellas to take for rainy days). I would definitely stay here next time.

From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the hotel's prime location, which provided easy access to all the attractions I wanted to explore in the old quarter and the beer street (10 min walk). What truly set this hotel apart, however, was the staff. We interacted with Jenny, Thomas and Sunny. Their warmth, friendliness, and genuine desire to make my stay exceptional were truly heartwarming. From the moment I stepped foot in the lobby, I was greeted with smiles and assistance. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, from recommendations for local dining spots to arranging transportation. Their dedication to customer service truly made me feel valued and welcomed. The rooms were impeccably clean. The comfortable bed ensured a restful sleep.

The breakfast options were limited. However, there are plenty of options around the hotel.

I live in nearby Haiphong and stay at the Minerva Church Hotel when I transit through Hanoi or stay in the city for a weekend. I continue to return to this hotel because of its great location, friendly staff, and deep-soaking bathtubs.

The only thing I miss is the buffet breakfast not on offer because of covid regulations. On the plus side, the bowl of pho they provided in place of the buffet was excellent.
