I liked that this is a family run hotel. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and the staff are keen to help with anything. It is located in an alleyway away from the street noise but close to all the action of the old quarter. I loved room 401 which had a large balcony with lots of plants on it. I also stayed in room 301 for one night (when I came back from Halong Bay Cruise) which had a much smaller balcony but bigger room space. Showers in both rooms had good water pressure and hot water. A/C strong and not noisy. Lift was handy. I would definitely stay here again.
Nil - I liked everything!

We loved this little hotel. It's located down a safe, cool little alley way in Hanoi Old Quarter. There is shops, restaurants, markets all around you where you can get anything you need. The hotel is older but it's cute and has air conditioned rooms. It's the perfect spot for a home base for a few days......and all the tour groups we went through picked you up there. We definitely felt you get an authentic slice of real hanoi life. I loved waking up early ( around 6am) and wandering around, while the city wakes up...you'll see some of the coolest stuff. I also recommend finding a spot for Bun Cha....there's a couple little shops around that serve it that early....sit on a plastic chair and watch the world go by.
Everything was awesome

We love the location of the hotel. Even though it is. One star hotel, it has two beds, one queen and one twin. However, the queen mattress is super hard to sleep on. It is a family run hotel. The staff are very friendly. Even though it is located right in the center of the bustling city, the hotel is located in an alley way where only motorbikes could go in. So we don't hear the noise of the traffic from the main street. I love the food stalls and the morning market right down the street. It is so close to everything - restaurants, cafe, convenient store (Circle K).
Good location and clean. Walking distance to many attractions such as the lake and St. Joseph Cathedral.

Great location.. staff very nice pleasant.. ac is great but makes a little noise.. bed is super comfortable. Lighting great
Could use some plugs.. and some hooks to hang your clothes. I had room 302.. couldn't really open the blind for light or fresh air.. because someone living there out that window is always looking .. there house and garden is there. Fridge didn't work very well. ..lobby is a bit clustered and full of stuff.. the entrance way could use some work.. the alley is all muddy and dingy at night.. hard to walk thru..

The hotel is family-run and everyone is so helpful and friendly. They offered to arrange a pick up from the airport, arranged our bus to cat-ba and were able to extend our stay in the same room. Tung Trang is in a great location to explore the old quarter of Hanoi. it’s tucked down a small alley and is hidden away from the noise of motorbikes and cars. Room 401 has a lovely balcony to enjoy a beer on in the evening before heading out to explore. We will definitely come back to Tung Trang next time we are in Hanoi!
Not ideal to come back too late as someone waits up for you to let you in. So we felt a bit bad about that! Maybe some sort of system to allow yourself in at night would be good.

The owners were exceptionally helpful. We asked to organise a tour to Tam Coc and a transfer to Ha Long. All arranged quickly and for a great price. Breakfast daily equates to AUD$5 per person and well worth it. Coffee, tea, eggs, pancakes... cooked as you order. The accommodation is small but comfortable and clean and is exceptional value for money. We all slept very well. The hotel is dead quiet at night in spite of being surrounded by main streets. We have were going to to choose another on a main street, but we're glad we chose Tung Trang. WiFi is very good - just choose the router associated with your floor. The hotel is very central to everything you might want to see and do in Hanoi. Walking distance to almost everything. For very personal service I'd highly recommend.
Shower was a bit tricky to get right at first. But, once you know what you're doing it's fine.

Nice, comfortable affordable room! The reception check in was easy, and the hosts were really kind. The rooms were ready as we arrived, and they were clean and comfortable. There's a small reasonably priced mini bar selection (water or ramen for 20,000 vnd). There's a mini fridge and kettle and enough space for a short trip. We booked a more deluxe room as a couple, and I'd recommend that for some extra bedside space. Shower had hot water and was enclosed. Laundry service was available for 40,000vnd per kilo. We dropped it off around 15:00 and they had it ready for us the next morning before 10:00 am. Which was awesome! I think they are well located for exploring old quarter! If you have a lot of luggage, be aware that you may have to walk a ways down the alley to get to it from your taxi drop off. It wasn't far or bad, and we had backpacks, but just so you're aware. :) Thanks for a great stay!
The aircon works only when the key card is in the room. Fairly typical for this area, but our particular unit was a little slow to cool the room. Also it was 44.5C/113F heat index while we were there. It's probably not always an issue!

Everything was amazing! The hotel is run by a family and they were super hospitable, we really felt at home here. it was so nice that we extended our stay for another night. We wanted to go on a cruise to Ha Long bay and the owner showed us many different options and helped us pick the best fit for us, which came out cheaper than booking online. Requesting a motorbike was also not a problem. My girlfriend even got to wear an authentic ao dai from the family to take some pictures at Hoan Kiem lake. The hotel is located in a side street right in the city center, closely located to all tourist attractions while being quiet at night. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. This was by far the best stay in our entire trip through Vietnam. I will definitely come back to this hotel if I’m ever in Hanoi again.

On the date of stay I got the phones stolen from the street. (It's a terrible experience in Hanoi. Traveled to more than twelve countries, did not expect to meet in Hanoi. Because taking the train from Sapa town, the city is very warm and good and kind and nice for the people) Thank you to the host for being so kind to me. Walk to the police station as our friend. Let me borrow a mobile phone to contact a friend that my mobile phone has been lost. Even on bad days the owner of the room knocked on the door and asked if it was okay. On the day I'm checked out, she walked to take me to the taxi. It's a pity that there are no pictures of accommodation to review. I want to say that the room is clean. The facilities are all provided, the bed is soft, comfortable to sleep in, the accommodation is small, but there is an elevator, so you don't have to walk up, the shower, the water flows strong, the water heater works great, the door enters and exits the room. There is security in the room because it uses a key card system.

We spend 1 night at this hotel. The bus to Hanoi took longer then expected and so we were very short on time since we had an excursion booked in the early morning (also by this hotel btw). The staff waited for us until we arrived and could check in. In the morning the hotel staff helped us again very much by calling the train station and rebooking our booked tickets to make our lives easier. It is impressive how much they helped us in the very few hours we actually spend at the hotel. Again to the staff: thank you.
