After a somewhat unfortunate check-in, I received a unique and unbelievable compensation. I don't want to give any details, but I've never experienced anything like this. wow and thank you very much. I stayed in a double room with a private bathroom. It was more like a small apartment with a separate bedroom. Everything is spacious and very clean. A broken lightbulb was immediately replaced. The hostel is very centrally located, right on the Esplanade, and yet a little distance from the hustle and bustle and therefore nice and quiet, especially at night. A good breakfast is available right outside the door at Muddy's. I can absolutely recommend the accommodation.

The location was great. Just one minute walk to the sea shore. The staff (Peta) were extremely helpful and friendly. She helped me book excursions and organised my stay for an extra night in the same room. Even booked a cab to take me to the airport early in the morning.

It's not a hotel so it's bound to be a bit rough around the edges but it suited my needs. Could be a bit cheaper.

Location location location, easy after-hours check-in, very friendly staff, private room away from others, quiet at night, plenty of clothes hangers, pool area (didn't use as it was a bit cool and rainy) and most of all... Bagus Cafe!

Airport transfer wasn't available, single hook in bathroom was broken, maybe put a curtain on the door's window so as not to flash everyone accidentally LOL. These are minor compared to the good things.

Right on the Cairns Esplanade with a lovely clean pool, a large room, aircon, laundry facilities, kitchen & only a short walk to a bus route, to take you to Cairns City & Cairns Central, which is a large Shopping Centre where the trains for Brisbane & Kuranda Railway arrive & leave. Buy a multi ride ticket from the local Bus company to fully enjoy your time in Cairns. Thanks to Zenon (the host) for a most enjoyable stay. Also to "Bagus" the Indonesian restaurant at the entrance of Caravella, who serve the most yummy food.!!

I was upgraded in one of the apartment and it was amazing. Clean and spotless with comfortable bed. I would highly recommend book these apartment as you feel like at home.

Location is close to the boardwalk and restaurants.

I didn't receive the check-in code to retrieve my room key. Check-in took some time to figure out.

Very good location on the esplanade, close to the city centre. Good facilities (swimming pool, kitchen, garden...). Very large room.

Staff rarely available at reception. Room quite noisy as on the road side and no insulation between rooms.

Bigger room, the bed is clean and tidy and good location

Never seen the staff before I check out,and the toilet light is not working. I try to contact with them, no answer forever. The toilet is dirty after I check in, I can see still have pee on the toilet seat, and also not provide toilet paper and shampoo and body cleaner. The washing machine had to pay $4 per time just for quick wash, and the dryer is not good working, I have to pay $8 spent 2 hours for drying.

Zenon and the staff were outstanding friendly, helpful and considerate. I felt welcome and valued immediately on arrival . The room was very clean and neat. There is a good size open pool, two communal kitchens and it’s right on the Esplanade but wonderfully quiet. The Bagus restaurant outside the hostel sells cheap and delicious Indonesian food. The room rates are very reasonable and I will be staying here again on my return.

It’s a little run down in some communal areas but Covid is currently making it difficult to generate enough money for a new coat of paint. If you’re not too precious then it’s not a problem.

The location. The friendly staff. The private bungalows were renovated and they were great!
