Where the property is positioned is brilliant, excellent coffee a short walk away, Canelands Shopping centre is only moments away as well- the pool is crystal clean and a delight to swim in, the staff are polite and accommodating, the manager James is amazing- he has gone above and beyond to ensure my stay is the very best it can be. He is warm and friendly, greeting me with a big smile no matter what time of the day it is…he is well suited to his role here and I wouldn’t hesitate to return next time I come through Mackay

The only thing I would say is where my room was the wifi wasn’t working the best- but after speaking to the manager they are looking at getting it sorted in the very near future

The staff were always friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was exceptional variety provided. When the staff heard me say it was cold, so I was looking forward to a spa bath, she immediately provided a lovely jar of spa salts that were wonderful! So thoughtful! There was a free washing machine and dryer for use on the property, which we made use of.

There were no cooking bowls or utensils provided in the rooms for the microwave, and only disposable plates and cutlery. We actually went away and bought melamine plates and sturdier cutlery, as we were there 4 nights and eating in. Then we asked for a can opener and china bowl for cooking and were supplied with those. Perhaps we could have asked for other things as well, but it wasn't listed on the room facilities list. It would have been more useful if the visitor book described what kitchen facilities were available upon request.

This is my little getaway from my home life as A busy single mum to enjoy some down time & relax in the spa.

I’ve stayed here with u quite a few times over the last few months not once have I been asked to pay a $200.00 deposit, upon arrival on Tuesday afternoon I was hit with the $200 deposit cost. After speaking with staff at check in they waved it for me. When checking out on the Wednesday morning I made sure the room was left clean also assisted with helping by removing the sheets on the bed to help the cleaning staff, which they always do a fantastic job.

Located on the northern edge of the CBD with the Pioneer River on the other side the Motor Inn is well located for a short walk to the shops. The Pioneer Boulevard along the river offers a easy walk in a westerly direction to the large Caneland Shopping Centre and a little shorter walk to the Forgan Bridge across the Pioneer River. The Motor Inn is U shaped with a pool and BBQ area in the courtyard. We were in room 25 on the upper level. The room is a good size and comes with a king sized comfortable bed which has side tables with interesting bed lamps. There is a lounge chair with foot stool, a good sized table with two chairs, a cabinet with two drawers at the top and a shelf part way down, and a wardrobe. There is a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board. The lighting is excellent, the mirror large a good size TV, air conditioner, ceiling fan and numerous power points. The bathroom is a reasonable size with two windows high up but lacks an exhaust fan. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, you were able to pick your choice of items for the continental breakfast from the selection in reception (an interesting way of doing it). The information folder in the room was informative. It seemed to us that the owners had spent a week living in the room and as a result had equipped it to be useful for occupants. While it is not fancy everything is very practical. Overall excellent value for $106 a night.

We didn’t like the throwaway plates or cutlery. The wooden trim on the bed side tables and on the cabinet were sticky probably from the cleaning solution used to clean the tops.

We enjoyed our stay, close to shops, restaurants etc, room was a good size, good size fridge and microwave. ALL Staff were wonderful, great choices for breakfast which was fantastic. Can't really fault the place...Loved that we were able to walk almost everywhere we needed to go. Would stay here again next time we are up visiting Mackay.

Very minor but could have done with a bedside lamp on both sides of bed or another light more central in roof but hey, it wasn't too bad.... Like I said very minor... all in all it has been a great stay

This motel was a surprising little gem right in the cbd, close walking distance to lots of eating options. We paid $102 for the room which included a complimentary breakfast. A nice surprise, help yourself & pick up cereal, bread, milk, condiments from reception. No other motel on this trip so far has offered a complimentary brekky so much appreciated & this was also our cheapest room so far. Older motel with upgrades, not the flashiest inside but very comfy large bed, good shower & air con, nice & quiet. Guest laundry.Great overnight stop. Very pleasant young lady on reception.

Quiet location. Short walk to shops, a range good food places and riverside walks. Large comfortable bed. One pillow felt like it was full of rocks, but there was a spare much better one hiding in the wardrobe. Good swimming pool. Adequate breakfast. We were part of a contingent competing in a sporting event. Many others stayed in motels far from the city centre on the busy main road to the south. We were in a much better location.

There was no fan or any other ventilation in the bathroom and this was evidenced by the mould on the bathroom ceiling. No other issues.

Both the price and the location. It is an older place so not pristine but is reasonably well maintained and has always be clean when I have stayed. They have a selection of breakfast in office for you to help yourself, which is excellent. Free onsite parking and it’s only a 5 minute walk to the big ‘Cane lands’ shopping centre, along lovely riverside walkway at the back. (10 minutes walk along roads) The old part of town is also on the doorstep and really pretty for a walk around, or a good coffee at a cafe.

Good size comfortable bed, had tea, coffee, milk, water bottles and biscuits. Had shampoo, conditioner and body wash, hand wash etc in dispensers. Also had toaster, kettle, wine glasses, coffee cups and disposable plates, bowls and cutlery. Our room also came with a complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast, juice, yogurt, milk and spreads. Good free wifi and TV channels. Lots of parking and walking distance to Victoria St and restaurants. Pool and BBQ Area.

Decor is out of date but was a comfortable overnight stay at a great price.

Flexible bed arrangements. Able to accommodate lots of children. Needed 7 separate beds. They were able to provide 2 rooms next to each other. Great for groups traveling for sports or dance activities.

Booking included breakfast, but we were not able to access because we arrived after hours, and food was located in the reception area. Room had all of the facilities to make your own breakfast though - if you BYO.
