Silkari The Pavilions

After arriving later than we had advised, the lovely Manager Shannon met us with a cheery smile and was only too happy to provide us with all the information we needed on the property, including carparking etc. Shannon and her sister Crystal appear to have recently taken over the management of the Pavilions, which is now a member of the Silkari brand and appear very keen to improve the property and all it has to offer. We received plenty of useful information on activities in the area (including advice on the local crocodile spotting areas near the town) and also had bookings arranged at a great price. We cannot speak more highly of the service and the property itself. Our 1 BR apartment, located on the lower carpark level was so easy to access and super quiet at the rear. Being our first visit to Port Douglas, the great experience we had from the staff made it such a great holiday. The location of the property, being positioned on the main street between Four Mile Beach and the wharf area made it ideal to explore on foot.

Nothing. Everything was terrific.

The Reception staff were very helpful and knowlegeable. My wife lost her reading glasses and Jen at reception really tried to help us locate them. We also booked a river cruise through reception which all went smoothly. The beds were very comfortable. The off street parking is a bonus, we arrived on market day where parking was next to impossible, this plus the building location made our arrival and transporting our suitcases very easy.

The rooms are showing their age somewhat, tap fitttings are looking tired and our toilet cistern would take ages to fill, not good in the dead of night silence! There is an onsite swimming pool but no pool towels are in the room. Our first day was a Sunday and the reception hours are shorter, we could not get pool towels until Monday afternoon, They were given to us with no hessitation when we were able to speak to a reception staff member.

Apart from the location being excellent, The on-site managers Shannon and Crystal were unbelievable and I was just astounded with the amount of work that these two young ladies have to do all by themselves. They welcomed us and made our stay very enjoyable. They are a real credit and great asset to Silkari The Pavilions we look forward to our next stay and would definitely recommend staying here.

That we didn’t stay longer

Right in the middle of Port Douglas - great location with off street parking. Didn't really have any dealings with Reception. Large room with very dark patio which we didn't use. Bed large and comfortable in a separate area which had sliding doors. Living area large and well appointed. Air conditioning. There was a swimming pool which we used twice. Plenty of shops, restaurants, shops and bars about. Would use again.

More stairs than we anticipated!! Down to our room (though it was beside the underground carpark. As mentioned above , very dark patio area which was very overgrown and not inviting.

Prefect location: central to the restaurants/shops/Coles, walking distance to the marina, the beach, flagstaff hill walking trail and the Sunday morning market. Pretty place with a nice heated pool to relax after a long day exploring the area and a peaceful garden view (with lovely birds around) from our apartment including a private balcony. The apartment was very practical with everything needed to cook and feel at home. Alison and Grant are great hosts and recommended us a nice tour to the Daintree Rainforest and more. We will definitely book the same accommodation when we come back next year! Thanks again :)

I checked in after hours and the staff were great. I was sent easy to follow instructions on how to get my key, so it was a smooth process. They even left details on how to find my room. The room was nice and had everything I needed for my stay. The pool area was well set up with seating and shade, and the location was fantastic. It is positioned right in the middle of the Main Street, only a few minutes walk to Coles supermarket and within walking distance (10 mins) to the beach, cafes, the marina etc. They offer secure parking, but I found that there was usually plenty of parks on the street and didn’t have any issues with leaving my car there overnight. The cost was affordable and the accommodation very comfortable, I would stay here again if I come back to Port Douglas.

Overall the facilities, accommodation and location were spot on the mark for a quiet getaway. The Pavilions is located centrally in Port Douglas so don't expect a full on resort style experience, however for a family or couple holiday to experience the area and it's surrounds with easy access to restaurants, the Marina and all of the other wonderful facilities Port Douglas has to offer the Pavilions provides a hospitable comfortable base.

Just off Main Street, the room was at the back with a balcony and a pleasant view. Pool was small and I didn't use it, but not far from patrolled area on the sea. Also very quiet and had good internet and a great tv.

Cooking facilities were limited and no dishwasher. Everything else was fine. I also stayed at the lagoon which had a really good 3 bed flat, outside tub and better pools - but a short ride to the centre. Both very good.

5-star enthusiastic service Property Manager couldn't do enough for me and did everything to make me feel welcome, rearrange transfers and book tours. Range of soaps. Spacious apartment in central location. Balcony with table overlooking mini-rainforest.

Room was serviced first and second morning but then not for rest of week so ran out of things like coffee, milk, toilet paper. WiFi kept going down.

Jen, staff member was exceptional and deserves a pay rise, she was always available to assist in anything we wanted from restaurants to outings or moving in or out, would definitely book again. location was excellent with direct access to town and very close to beaches and marina.

furniture, I am sure north queensland has a competition for most uncomfortable lounge.
