The Bed was a great size, as was the room in general, so much space that we could spread out and not feel cramped like other hotels. The Bathroom was a good size as well for both our needs! The staff were so polite, quick service, helpful for our needs and even gave us advice on places to visit. Especially the note about staying parked in the hotel and going to the Salamanca markets! We ordered room service, being a large order, we were expecting a late dinner, but honestly it was up and ready within 30/40 minutes which is insane, it was all fresh and still hot, couldn't be more impressed. We also had Breakfast included that was the attached restaurant. They had tea, coffee and different juices which was great. A lot of options for breakfast, whether it was cereal, bacon and eggs, yoghurt, acai or my personal favourite, an omelette bar! It's worth getting this added with your room booking.
The carpark hits capacity fast, we paid for parking but if you're not back early enough, you won't be parking there, or you can park on parts that are not parking, which was super unsafe. One morning I couldn't get out safely, because a car was parked at the exit, when I brought this up, they advised they would check, but didn't seem too concerned that this happened, as if it's pretty common. it's quite stressful. The only other thing I didn't like was the shower, it's a new shower head with great water pressure, however the drain was not adjusted for this, so the bathroom floods pretty fast, so a quick showers a good shower!

The location and view was amazing, providing a really comfortable and happy vibe. All the duty managers and staff were so very very nice and accommodating in every way possible. My wife was sick with a stomach bug for 1 and 1/2 days, All reception staff were concerned and trying to help. Everything I requested was provided like toast and vegimite at 10pm because my wife needed something light to eat after laying in bed and not eating the whole day. I cannot leave out the staff working in the Atrium Bar or Tasman Resturant, absolutely fantastic the way they looked after us during our stay. I fully recommend to stay here and we will be back again without a doubt.
No safe in the room, but there are lock boxes available at reception for your valuables.

Mostly everything really. From the service at check-in, the bar, the room, the views. Fabulously located and beautiful hotel. On the whole the staff were exceptional, polite, friendly and warm.
The hotel advertises that there is a hairdresser on site. However it was impossible to get an appointment for 4 months. I would have thought since it was promoted on the hotel site that he would keep a few open places for hotel guests. The staff in general were absolutely lovely, however checkout was cool. I think he was a manager as he was more interested in training someone than in me. Off putting.

Location was excellent. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. I booked for 2 rooms 1 with water views and City view on the other. The staff was very helpful in terms of our needs (travelling with 2 kids and parents) and was able to provide 2 double ( I didn't have this option when I booked) as my kids wanted to stay in 1 room instead of my eldest staying with grandparents in the other room. The rooms, while not that close as I would hoped for, were situated on the same level. It was a minor thing as my parents loved their views. Rooms were very spacious. My kids loved this hotel the most during our trip in Tasmania ( best out of 3). We are definitely going back to Tasmania and would love to stay at Grand Chancellor again.
Minor thing was the shower as the bathroom floor gets wet easily. That said, we had enough towels to keep the bathroom floor dry.

Loved our room with the harbour view - I could sit in front of the windows the whole day! Room was spacious and beds were comfy. Liked that they had a swimming pool although it was a little smaller than I expected. Breakfast was really good and staff were very friendly and helpful. Toiletries provided in the room were good and I liked the little chocolate bars placed beside the bed.
There could have been more free TV channels provided. Restaurant was slightly pricey although it could be due to the location too. Shower area in the bathroom was not fully enclosed, so some water splashed out and made the floor wet. Towel rack was placed right beside the toilet bowl which meant we had to remember to close the lid everytime we flush, otherwise particles may have gotten onto the towels...

Close to everything, we got a room with a great view looking over the harbour although it was one of the lower levels. Great gym, and sauna, clean with great smart TV in room. Comfy beds. It’s a big hotel, with options for food delivered or in the restaurant downstairs. We were there for my husband’s 60th and they very kindly supplied a bottle of champagne which we thoroughly enjoyed!! 🤩
Hate paying $20/ day for parking….its a bugbear of mine especially when you’re paying top dollar for a room. The great pool has a crazy amount of chlorine…. only swam once because of it.

All staff go beyond and are committed to hospitality. On a recent trip to Tasmania, my son fell ill with gastro and had to be taken to Hobart hospital. As a result, we needed to book a nights accommodation in the city, urgently and in the Christmas period! From emergency, I booked via booking.com but when we arrived, we were advised there were no rooms available under that rate as booking.com had a delayed capacity update. The reception staff kindly upgraded us to a lovely spacious room. They then allowed our oversized campervan to be parked in the front driveway as it was too high to park underneath. We ordered room service and the food was restaurant quality. The following morning, as my son was still unable to eat much, I explained to the restaurant downstairs and they arranged toast and some croissants for him to eat.
Nothing. It was all excellent.

Clean comfortable room Excellent bed
We stayed 2 nights with a friend in 2 rooms. We decided to have a drink in the bar for happy hour. The first time our friend had a gin and tonic and I didn't feel like having a drink. The next day we decided to both have a gin and tonic but our friend hadn't enjoyed the gin the day before so he enquired if he could have a different brand of gin with his g&t only to be told that this was the only gin used at happy hour. Consequently we missed out on having a drink together. And we where very disappointed that another brand of gin(even at a higher price than happy hour) wasn't given as an option. I think the bar staff needs improving.

Everything! From the concierge, Eve , best customer service for me, Millie, and in the Tasman Restaurant, Bec with the Cambodian man who served us so very well. Definitely superb service for me and my family! Also, this is a big thing, I forgot my eyeglasses, as soon as I realised it, I called and the lady at the concierge, on the 27th, told me on the phone she will have someone to look for it and will get back to me asap, I was in already in the airport then. She called and said they found it! I just requested for it to be posted to my address in Brisbane, and it came really fast, like the day after we arrived! Thank you Grand Chancellor, you made our stay in Hobart very memorable! To Eve, thank you so much for your hospitality, really far beyond my expectations!

Very lovely Hotel, in a perfect location overlooking the harbour. The view from our window was a perfect holiday post card view….we never tired of it as we sat in our lounge room soaking up the sun.🌞 We had a corner “EXECUTIVE SUITE WITH HARBOUR VIEW” all I can say is FABULOUS! The rooms of the suite are large and newly refurbished with large bathroom and TWO toilets. There is one restaurant and one Bar/Coffee lounge area on the ground floor which is very lovely to sit and have a breather with an Espresso Martini and enjoy the harbour view and the goings on of THE BEST KEPT SECRET……Which is HOBART and TASMANIA.💕💕 If you are planning a few days away, spoil yourself with an Executive Suite With Harbour View….(corner room) Loads of young staff at reception and all very professional and eager to assist which is so nice. You can walk to Salamanca market, shops, Battery point and just wander the streets in general. Very relaxing and easy to get around. If you are staying a few days you don’t really need a car. Catch the airport shuttle to the Grand Chancellor Hotel for $20.00 one way per person. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back…🌟🥂🌟
I feel that the breakfast could be a bit more interesting…..as it is a bit Ho Hum. I did notice a few large Indian families and quite a few Asian couples…..but no breakfast foods for them. We have been in other hotels where their breakfast catering is diverse and very much enjoyed by everyone. We do have to move with the times and be inclusive of everyone.
