I came across Windarra as a last minute search for accommodation, close to Launceston hospital, as my wife had recently broken her ankle. All aspects of my stay exceeded my expectations. Susanna (host) is very kind, considerate, and was very compassionate to my situation. She responded immediately to my queries, being very flexible to my needs (late arrival, parking), taking the trouble to ensure that I would be comfortable. 'The Residence' is a very spacious apartment, with a large windowed central room (a tasteful extension to the old house), linked to the original (refurbished) building, bed rooms, separate lounge, and a very large bathroom. It met every possible need. This is very comfortable accommodation. The location on High Street (elevated on the ridge line) is central to all of Launceston's highlights.

Easy contactless check in. The breakfast was delicious. Very friendly staff. Lovely old building. Able to check out but leave our luggage at reception for a late flight. Very comfortable after hiking the Overland track for 7 days. Lovely fireplace in room although no need to use as a heat wave in Tassie during our stay

A bit noisy first night from other guests. The room was quite small ( the Elizabeth room) but had everything we needed. No aircon and hot weather experienced so quite uncomfortable at times.A pedestal fan only.

Windarra on High is all charm and elegance. It’s a beautiful step back in time with all the luxury of modern convenience. We met Gordon both mornings at breakfast and his attention to his guests was a breath of fresh air . The stories you hear around the breakfast table was a delight . We particularly liked the fresh fruit salad and local yoghurts , the granola was delightful. We were given a sneak peak into some of the other rooms and the elegance and attention to detail in each room is personalised and unique to each one . A treasure will we find out on all our next return stays. Thank you Gordon for being so generous with your time , not just to us but all the other guests around us . It was heart warming to see hospitality at its finest . Elle , Paul & Melly

This is a beautiful grand residence about a 15 minute walk to the cbd. We had the Somerset Suite - room 4, which is a very spacious queen room, located upstairs, with a bathroom, kitchenette and dining table. It was very quiet, and there was plenty of on street parking. Entrance into the property is via a smart lock so it was easy to check in as we booked our room last minute. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the formal dining room which is a really lovely and classy - on offer is fruit salad, yoghurt, toast, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. All up this is great value for money.

Feedback wise the TV screen could be bigger for a bedroom so large.

Huge room in a stunning 1850’s Victorian house. It was so comfortable and quiet and in a gorgeous street with similarly beautiful houses. The breakfast was delicious including good quality coffee. Although there were a few steep hills to climb when returning later from town, this wasn’t a problem and we thought the location was great. Gordon & Susanna were super friendly & helpful hosts.

Nothing! We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this great hotel to everyone.

Average breakfast. Great location. Good security and average fire emergency strategy.

The bathroom was poor. The sink area had no where to place a toilet bag and make up bag. There was hair in the toilet and old shampoo sitting on top of shower door. The tiles were not capped as they abutted the bedroom carpet , a 10cm gap evident which I stumbled over twice. I subsequently placed a towel along the gap. The kitchenette kettle had grime on the inside which I had to clean out and scald with boiling water before use. Great breakfast but no eggs bacon beans mushrooms. The jar of peanut butter was low grade.

Stunningly restored 1880 beautiful home, original with modern touches where it matters. Divinely comfortable beds and linens. Gorgeous suite, great shower. So quiet at night we slept soundly. Fresh breakfast in lovely dining room with fire place. Pretty roses adorn the front garden and easy parking. So close to town without the noise. Great morning walks past gorgeous homes with stunning gardens in bloom.Loved it!

Nothing. Absolutely superb

A lovely, old-fashioned house that is a delightful place to stay. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful in providing information regarding the surrounding area. Breakfast was also good and overall, this was extremely good value.

Situated on top of a reasonably steep hill, you will find a car useful in reaching the town centre. That being said, we managed to walk back from a central restaurant in about 20 minutes without any problem, despite the gusts of wind which were swirling around us.

Located a little bit away from the city centre and very steep hills if you are walking but such a beautiful building with lovely staff. The manager went out of his way to assist us with parking. (Which was free) Breakfast was basic but fresh and plentiful.

The third room in our apartment was very basic. No mirror or bed side table. Designed for children really

The building was great, the location excellent, Gordon was lovely but the breakfast did not meet my expectations. The fruit salad and yogurt were great but the bread (supermarket sliced bread and fruit bread) was not up to standard. It would be much better to serve quality bread with quality local jams and/or local honey. Launceston has a reputation for high quality food products and this would be a chance to highlight these goods. Also my husband is allergic to nuts and the muesli was not labelled as containing nuts (the nuts were quite small). It would be good to have a nut-free muesli. Possibly with a bowl of nuts so those who wanted nuts could add their own. The coffee setup was not labelled. I used a coffee bag because I couldn't work out how to use the coffee machine. The breakfast could easily be improved, resulting in a impressive experience in all regards.
