This is a close to perfect hotel for people seeking a peaceful, quiet break. The building has lovely proportions (high ceilings, wide hallways), so it feels really quiet, even when busy (as it was when we stayed). The facilities are clean and comfortable. The complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch, as was the selection of teas. Breakfast was great - good range of choices for those trying to stay healthy and plant based, but also some meaty, carby ‘treats’! The setting itself is just beautiful …. Lovely gardens, access to the historic mansion, as well as to the river, which is unmanicured and beautiful in its own way. There was a colony (?) of ibis there on the evening we stayed (absolutely magical). We are not zoo types, but if you were that’s another bonus! We didn’t have time to use them but there’s also a pool and spa. The onsite restaurant is great if you want to avoid driving (gastro pub standard)

Almost the only whinge I’d have about this property (tho not a deal Breaker) is the coffee! The only way to get a good coffee is to order and pay for it at the bar when it is open . There is only instant coffee in the rooms and the breakfast coffee is very average indeed! It’s dispensed via a machine. A good pre-made drip coffe would be a kinder option for coffe drinking patrons!

The staff were very friendly. The location is good - kind of secluded which was nice being surrounded by nature. The restaurant had a decent breakfast buffet, and we also went there for dinner one night. It was expensive but the food was nice. The pool and spa area was good too.

The room had a whole wall of windows which faced the hotel entrance and was only covered with Venetian blinds, which let in a lot of light at night. Some blockout curtains would be good. The junior suite was large but only had a bed, ottoman and a couple of armchairs - I think it was overpriced for what it was.

we loved the architecture, the history and the grounds were just beautiful. If you enjoy learning about early settler history ( take the complimentary self guided tour of the original homestead), spa luxury and quality dining then the Mansion will tick the boxes. This is a most unique hotel experience that blends history with modern facilities really well. We stayed in a King Supreme room in the “new” extension to the 100 y.o. Seminary wing. The old English style gardens and the adjoining Rose Gardens are immaculately maintained like a botanic garden. The breakfast buffet is very good quality and al the staff were attentive and friendly. The magnesium mineral heated lap pool/spa was a treat and each change room has a steam room to unwind from a day out in town.

going home! Oddly the wiring in the room means that to turn off the bathroom light, you have to isolate the bedside lamps and power points….so no charging of phone o/night unless you use the USB power point on the “desk”…trap for young players! minor point….the b/room furniture is showing their age and are overdue a refurb

We were welcomed by very professional and helpful team members, particularly the greeter and bag porter who showed us around and explained the facilities. We appreciated our Welcome Drink voucher followed by an extremely enjoyable evening in the restaurant with delicious food and a lovely wine list. The second night we ate more informally in the Bar Lounge and also enjoyed the experience. There is so much to enjoy in the surrounding gardens, rose garden and historic Mansion that our time was too short. The spa and pool facility was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

As the bathroom in the 'original' rooms is quite tight it would be helpful to have a hook to hang a bath towel somewhere close to the shower and maybe a bathrobe.

It was our 1st time staying. The staff were just lovely. The hotel stunning. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was divine. Did a wine testing at the nearby winery and a tour of the old mansion. The swimming pool was so lovely. We received some complimentary sweets on arrival as it was my daughters 13th Birthday. Would highly recommend staying you won't be disappointed.

The pool may need some attention as the floor surface surrounding it was a bit rough and slippery in places

Joseph's restaurant was amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu. The spa was also an amazing experience.

The room was quite disappointing, given what we paid. I understand there were limitations on what could be done with the rooms for historical reasons but it was still underwhelming which was a shame. It would have also been nice if there was some kind of incentive for hotel guests booking into the spa, maybe a small discount or something. I believe non-guests are entitled to use the pool/steam room facilities for an hour afterwards so surely guests of the hotel should be appreciated for their business as well.

The location was perfect for visiting Werribee Open Plains Zoo and the Historic Werribee Mansion attached to the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and well appointed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The pool is huge and all facilities were very clean. The price included breakfast.

The breakfast was not very extensive for what I would consider an upmarket hotel. My vegetarian son didn't find much that appealed to him. The sliding door into our bathroom was beautiful but very heavy and would no doubt be difficult to push and pull for elderly or otherwise compromised individuals.

The service, almost every employee went out of their way to be pleasant & helpful. The man at the check in/check out desk was so lovely. :) Sorry I didn't get his name. The woman in the cafe & the man at the mansion were also very helpful. The heritage buildings/grounds were a pleasure to stay at. My husband loved the golf course & the snooker room. Our set menu dinner & breakfast in Joseph's was delicious. special thanks to Victor & Renee for making it so. :) :)

The signage could be better to let visitors know exactly how far something is. A sign with an arrow pointing to a venue gives walkers no idea how far away it is, especially for older people, or those with young children. We were not made to feel welcome at the spa & found the woman at the desk sarcastic when we asked if there was a lift.

The bed was comfortable and breakfast was great. Staff were superb.

Wasn't that hungry for dinner and just wanted a dessert, was told have to order 2 courses in main dining room for $85, or I could eat in cafe which was noisy and crowded. Ended up just having chips in my room. The bathroom was nice but there were no towel hooks near the shower. Couldn't adjust temperature in my room, preset to 20 degrees with doona on bed. Wasn't particularly pleased with dirt road to hotel and muddy walk to reception.

It's right at the center of the Werribee Park. Very easy for guests to visit the mansion, the rose garden and the zoo. The Shadowfax Winery next door is surprisingly good. Staff is super friendly if you can find them.

Room is small with tiny window. It has more business hotel vibe than a holiday destination feel. It's very short handed when we visit. The only front desk lady checked us in and she also helped us with our luggage. No one pick up the phone when you call room service. Then the front desk lady called back to take our order. It's not up to the 5 star hotel standard.
