Homewood Suites by Hilton Burlington

PROS: Full kitchen, large fridge, quiet, comfy, up to Hilton standards. Wednesday dinners. Enjoyable 1-bedroom stay as always.

CONS: long stay should have some discounts instead of charging nightly. The rest of CONS are minor and can be ignored, but here they are: - despite breakfasts being great by U.S. standards - they can't compete with even a mediocre European breakfast - despite room-cleaning is great overall - the housekeeping ladies never open sofa beds (full of crumbles/chips/candies/etc) and never clean under heavy furniture like armchair/sofa. I know it's a "norm" for U.S. and the spots they did reach to clean are all shiny and exceptional :) - minuscule cups (150ml or so) don't work well for tea-lovers

Front counter staff was friendly and kind. The stay was good. I mentioned it was my daughters first hotel stay when I booked. They gave us a room on the top floor with the good view. Might of been a coincidence but maybe they did it on purpose for her? Either way it was really nice for her.

I forgot a really expensive jar of green powder drink mix in the cupboards so I contacted them right away when I got home that night. Three email requests later, and two “we’ll pass it along to housekeeping” replies later, I’m pretty disappointed. I offered to pay shipping and expressed how it was expensive and I really really need it back. I was ghosted after the third email. No email from housekeeping. Not even a “we tried but sorry it was thrown out” (trust me anyone who saw this and felt that it was totally full, right beside a shaker bottle that wasn’t ever there before, wouldn’t have just thrown it out). A really nice trip ended on a disappointed feeling that I wish I hadn’t forgotten it. I know it’s my fault, just bummed about how it was handled by the staff.

Everything was great except for that my husband was downstairs on Sunday morning to get breakfast, he didn’t realize you couldn’t serve yourself as he missed the sign and an employee saw him in the breakfast area and yelled at him “who the hell are you!?” I understand this employee may have been thrown off his guard but that’s no way to speak to anyone!!! My husband politely said he was a guest even though he was shocked and offended. This is an industry of hospitality. there was no hospitality in this employee. The employee could have just simply asked my husband if he was a guest then explained how breakfast worked. We don’t frequent hotels. We didn’t know.

The pool should have some sort of floatie or life jackets for kids to play with or use.

Had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, the suite with a separate lounge/bedroom helped make it feel a bit like home away from home.

I found the air conditioning units to be quite loud which wasn’t great for a restful sleep. The decor seemed a bit basic and outdated (ie bed linens were torn in places).

Staff was friendly and took care of all requests promptly. Property was clean. Breakfast buffet offered a variety of foods and there was plenty to eat.

Room door was damaged, the paint was flaking off and was getting tracked into our room. Ceiling needed repairs from water damage.

The kitchenette had an apartment sized fridge, cooking elements, and even a dishwasher making it easy to prep meals in our room.

I wish they had a self serve washer and dryer for guests.

Our stay was great. This is our second time at this location. The hotel is very clean, the staff are excellent and the space is very welcoming.

We were in town to spend time with family and the pool was a main factor of our booking. The pool temperature was rather cool.

the property was easy access from the highway.

On the sidewalk on the side of the building no wheelchair exit of the sidewalk. More than 2 creamers in the room with the coffee would be nice. And enough coffee for 2 cups for each guest. I was charged more than what my confirmation stated for the room. I don’t know why, maybe someone could contact me about this?

Breakfast was hot, restaurant quality and delicious. The pool was fun for my kids! Staff exceptionally friendly.

It was super busy so it was a longer wait to get extra pillows, etc. Couldn’t call front desk bc it was too busy.

Breakfast was good and location was excellent as it was close to the key areas of my meetings at McMaster University and Columbia International Colleague
